Vaping Diaries #14: Vapor4Life Handle Review (V4L OMG)

The Vapor4Life Handle is a nice, compact vaping device that offers big power and amazing battery life. It’s part of V4L’s OMG line, which is geared towards advanced vapers. The Handle is currently available for $89.95 and comes in four colors: black, blue, green, and magenta. I’ve been using the blue model for a little under two weeks and I’m super-impressed with the product, save for one aspect. Read on for the details (please)!

What’s in the Kit: The Handle comes in a nice box with the unit, a battery, a charger, and the instruction manual. The 18650 battery is rated at 2,800 mAh, which is considerably higher than the competing batteries.

Form Factor and Ergonomics: This box mod has a simple but sleek look. With the battery in the unit, it strikes a nice balance between feeling light and having a good heft. The Handle is a pocketable device that you can safely place on a desk. I put a full 7ml tank on top of the device and it was totally stable on flat surfaces. The side of the unit has four finger grooves, but I found that using all four was too tight and my hands aren’t particularly big. For me, placing three fingers on the grooves and my pinky on the bottom was the most comfortable way to hold the Handle.

Operation: Using the Handle is a snap. It turns on and off with five clicks of the power button. A single click shows you the resistance of the cartomizer you’re using and the battery’s remaining charge. The former feature is fantastic for trying to figure out what voltage setting you should use (generally speaking, higher resistance cartomizers require higher voltages). The voltage can be adjusted from 3.0 to 6.0 volts in increments of 0.10.

Build Quality: This is the only aspect of the Handle that I wasn’t pleased with. The device is made from a rubberized plastic that has a nice texture, but feels a bit chip and flimsy. The battery door has a hinge that feels delicate. If you’re clumsy or not careful, I can see the battery door ripping off. While the plastic hardly screams luxury, the unit is put together nicely and the lines are clean.

Performance and Battery Life: The Handle’s performance exceeded my expectations. Output was very consistent for the first two-thirds of the battery. After that, I had to turn the voltage up a bit to achieve the same vape. This is normal behavior for an unregulated device. Battery life was outstanding. A full charge usually got me through a day and a half of heavy vaping. I can easily see many vapers getting two days out of a full charge.

Verdict: Aside from the plastic, I really enjoyed using the Handle. It’s a strong performer with stellar battery life. That said, it’s slightly overpriced. The good news is that Vapor4Life provides strong customer support, so the price is justifiable. For existing V4L users, I’d suggest picking up this product straight away. It’s easily the best device V4L offers and is compatible with the company’s many 808D parts. If you’re not part of the V4L family and have an abundance of 808D cartomizers/clearomizers, the Handle is definitely worth considering.

Lastly, if you’re looking for classic arcade action then Midway Arcade Origins will do you good.

Any of you picking up new games this week?

Coffee Talk #537: Create Your Own Angry Birds!

Angry Birds Star Wars was released last week and gamers are loving it. Many critics and fans feel that it’s the best Angry Birds game ever. This has people speculating that there will be future Angry Birds games based on popular movies, TV shows, and comic books, similar to how there are several LEGO titles that use the same core game mechanics and embellish them based on licenses. What mashups would you like to see in the future? Let’s play create your own Angry Birds!

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, root beer vs. cream soda, how cool Phil Jackson is for sleeping with her, or Mikey Garcia’s burgeoning boxing career, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

Personally, I’d love to see classic movies used in absurd ways. I’m thinking Angry Birds CasablancaAngry Birds Gone With the Wind, and Angry Birds Singin’ in the Rain. That probably won’t happen. If anything, future crossovers will be similar to the LEGO games — popular licenses of movies and comic books. Am cry.

What’s the Angry Birds game swimming around in your head? Do you want to see Angry Birds DC Comics? Maybe you’re up for Angry Birds Lord of the Rings? Leave a comment below with your Angry Birds concoction (please!).

Neil deGrasse Tyson Meets Superman

Here are two panels from Action Comics #14. This issue’s backup story features renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. This is outstanding for several reasons. Firstly, Tyson is one of the most outspoken and coolest scientists in America today. He’s the closest thing the world has to Carl Sagan in terms of making science fun and approachable. In a country where religion is used to spread fear and misinformation, Tyson is a much-needed voice of reason.

Secondly, Tyson’s awesomeness has him in a comic book hanging out with Superman! That completely rules.

Scribblenauts Unlimited at Carl’s Jr.

I was surprised to see Scribblenauts Unlimited toys at Carl’s Jr. today. I had no idea that items based on the game and the lead character, Maxwell, are the current Carl’s Cool Kids promotion. While it’s never a good idea to eat at Carl’s (except when you’re poor and the $1.29 Big Burger fits your budget), I’m happy that this excellent game by the excellent people at 5th Cell is getting mainstream exposure. Hot Star Wars Episode VII Rumors

The Star Wars Episode VII rumor mill is flying faster than the Millenium Falcon on the Kessel Run (less than 12 parsecs). Vulture has loads of exclusive info that Jedi knights, Sith lords, and scoundrels alike will want to read. Here are the highlights.

  • The studio wants Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa Solo to be in the film.
  • Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) has written a treatment for the movie.
  • The treatment has been sent to Brad Bird, JJ Abrams, and Steven Spielberg for directing consideration.

Out of these rumors, I’m most intrigued by Brad Bird being considered for the movie’s director. I absolutely loved The Iron Giant and The Incredibles. While I didn’t see it, I’ve heard good things about his job on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. That said, I’m sure loads of sci-fi fanboys are psyched about the possibility of JJ Abrams directing the movie. That would just be too weird for me. My head won’t accept the new Star Wars and Star Trek movies being directed by the same guy. That’s too much nerd power for one man to have.

Naturally, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the latest Star Wars Episode VII rumors. Leave a comment and share your feelings.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter Security Leak

Seven members of the renowned Navy SEAL Team Six — including one member that was on the mission that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden — have been disciplined for revealing classified information while consulting with EA on Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The heroes got in trouble for “disclosing classified information and misusing command gear while working with the gamemakers.” Here are more details from Interaksyon:

The seven each received a punitive letter of reprimand and were docked half pay for two months, a Navy official said. A defense official said all Pentagon employees are required to follow Defense Department guidance on outside employment, a measure put into place to ensure “the highest ethical behavior.”

Rear Admiral Garry Bonelli, the deputy commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, said the Navy treats allegations of misconduct seriously and also enforces nondisclosure agreements signed by sailors who join the special operations forces.

Personally, I think these guys should be allowed to club baby seals, deplete the ozone layer, and burn all the rain forests they want. They’re true heroes. However, I’m not military, so my opinion on the matter doesn’t mean much, and I understand that the Navy has to police itself. It would have been nice if the SEAL Team Six members got off scott free and all the blame was placed on EA. *joke*

Any thoughts on the Medal of Honor: Warfighter security leak?

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

There are two things that I’m going to play this weekend. First up is Angry Birds Star Wars. The game combines the simplicity and charm of Angry Birds with the pure awesomeness of Star Wars. The charm is similar to the LEGO Star Wars games in that it uses sights, sounds, and nostalgia to captivate you. This is a game that anyone can play and most sci-fi geeks will love. The other thing I’m going to be playing is conk-out-on-Vicodin. I tweaked my back on Tuesday, which — in a completely unintentional Star Wars reference — has me walking around like Yoda for parts of the day. It sucks, but hopefully some rest and Vicodin will heal me soon. I miss going to the gym.

How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?
