Qualcomm Snapdragon Game Command Video Interview

Qualcomm director of advanced gaming Dave Durnil chatted with your excellent friend Justin Leeper to talk about the company’s gaming efforts on Google Android. In addition to developer outreach, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Game Pack and Snapdragon Game Command are two of the ways the company is reaching out to gamers. Diablo III Interview: Jay Wilson Game Director

RPad.TV caught up with Blizzard game director Jay Wilson to talk about his work on Diablo III. Wilson spoke about attracting new fans to the Diablo franchise while keeping longtime players happy, his favorite character class as a designer, his favorite character class as a gamer, the last month of development, and more. Diablo III Midnight Launch Video

Here’s a video from Blizzard’s Diablo III launch event at the Irvine Spectrum. According to a PR rep, more than 2,000 fans showed up for the festivities. Gamers were treated to prizes, cosplayers, developer chats, art competitions, and more. They even got to witness members of the dev team having their “Diableards” (think playoff beards) shaven. It was a fantastic turnout for Blizzard and a real treat for Diablo fans. I got a charge from watching so many people come together to celebrate a videogame. Sweet stuff!

Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 Video Interview

Nvidia director of GeForce gaming Jason Paul joins talks about the GeForce GTX 680 in this video interview. Not only is Nvidia’s latest graphics card its most powerful gaming card to date, it’s also the most efficient. In addition to killer performance, the GTX 680 consumes less power and runs quieter than its forerunners. Paul talks about the GTX 680’s numerous features, including FXAA, adaptive vsync, GPU boost, and quad-display support.

Casper Van Dien Talks Noobz

Justin Leeper and I were lucky enough to get to chat with the legendary Casper Van Dien on the set of the upcoming videogame movie Noobz. The Starship Troopers star talks about his roles (multiple) in the movie, whether he can take on Dom from Gears of War, New Jersey vs. wherever the hell Justin is from, and more. Here’s a video review of the Razer Chimaera 5.1 wireless gaming headset. Although it can be used with any console or PC, it only allows for chat on Xbox 360. It’s another  high-quality product from Razer, a company that’s known some of the best mice and keyboards for gamers.

Like

  • Super Comfortable — I wore the Chimaera for several gaming sessions of two hours or more and found it perfectly comfortable the whole time.
  • Great Sound — Although it’s not as impressive as headsets with multiple drivers, I really enjoyed the sound output. At the very least, it blows away TV speakers in terms of clarity and detail.

Didn’t Like

  • Microphone — The mic isn’t noise-cancelling, which could be a deal breaker for gamers that play in crowded living rooms, doorms, etc.
  • Possible Interference — I’m positive that interference won’t be an issue for most people, but if you live in a crowded apartment complex (like me) with lots of 5.8GHz devices fighting for signal then you’ll probably experience occasional dropouts. At home, I experienced a few dropouts but when I brought the Chimaera to my friend’s house in the suburbs I didn’t have any.

Jason Mewes & Blake Freeman Talk Noobz (Videogame Movie)

Actor Jason Mewes (Clerks II) and director Blake Freeman talk about their upcoming videogame movie Noobz in this excellent video. In addition to the movie, the two talk about Gears of War 3, discuss first-person vs. third-person action, send a special message to Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski, and go off-topic in a hilariously lewd way. The legendary Casper Van Dien also pops up in the video making it extra awesome. Warning: this interview contains lots of naughty language and dirty references.

Skylanders Action Figures Video

Please, please, please check out this video of some of the 30+ action figures that can be used in Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures. The action figures themselves have some cool designs and the marketing copy is hilarious. Most of the action figures have tag-lines that are so silly that you have to laugh at them.

I’ve actually started my second run of the game and the main reason I’m playing it again is because it’s fun to use the action figures to swap characters. I’m positive that the game and the toys will sell like crazy this holiday season. Well played Activision. Well played.

Here’s a video with my top five games of E3 2011. Please check it out! Also, please keep in mind that my list was restricted to games that I officially saw. Some developer friends snuck me into demos that I wasn’t scheduled to see and I don’t want to get anyone in trouble. Having said that, there’s only one game I “unofficially” saw that would’ve cracked my personal top five.
