Still riding high from The Dark Knight Rises? If so then you’ll dig these two videos that poke fun at Batman. The first one is a gem sent from my pal Cat. It’s a College Humor tale of how Gotham’s hero (as portrayed by Christian Bale) got his silly voice.
Next is a reenactment of the climactic battle between Batman and Bane…with Burt Ward’s Robin thrown in for a laugh. This fine bit of fighting and flippancy was made by Above Average Network.

Last night was the 1,000th episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. WWE has been cranking out the show since January 1993. There have been so many awesome Raw moments over the last 19 years and I’d love to hear about your favorites. Perhaps you dream about the days when Mr. Perfect put on matches that were…well, perfect. Maybe you long for the “Attitude Era” when “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was king. Some of you probably miss those lovely sing-alongs with The Rock. Please share your favorite WWE moments in the comments section!
As for me, two somber shows were my favorites…
Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, exploding DLP bulbs, sexy gymnasts, or Ichiro Suzuki going to the New York Yankees, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

As for me, two somber shows were my favorites. The tributes to Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero were beautiful. I loved that WWE talent broke character, showed real emotion, and spoke from the heart. The love and admiration the wrestlers had for these two greats…it was just emotional to watch. It made me appreciate all the times they entertained me and appreciate life in general. It was real and raw.
Now it’s your turn! Please share your favorite WWE Monday Night Raw moments.

One of the biggest surprises at Comic-Con 2012 was the reaction to the Mass Effect: Paragon Lost trailer. For the most part, people hated it. On paper, it seems like a “can’t miss” animated series. FUNimation has a strong track record. Mass Effect is a fantastic property. How could that go wrong? Check out the trailer above and see what caused the mass consumption of Haterade. Here’s the show’s official description:
Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is the prequel to the highly-anticipated Mass Effect 3 and follows the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega. Vega leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against a mysterious alien threat known as The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his soldiers must protect the civilians from a ruthless invasion determined to capture the population for unknown purposes. Learn more about the Mass Effect universe with an unprecedented glimpse into the haunted past of Mass Effect’s newest hero!

Inspired by Marvel’s announcement of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, I wanted to pick your brain on a hugely important topic — sexy green women. Gamora, as you know, is the Guardian’s kick-ass martial-arts queen. She-Hulk sexily splits time between fighting bad guys and serving as an ace attorney. Yvonne Craig dazzled as Batgirl, but millions of nerds know her as a sexy green alien from the original Star Trek. Poison Ivy wears skimpy leaves and her passion for the environment is hot.
Which green fantasy/sci-fi babe do you like best? Kindly vote in today’s poll and discuss!
Continuing a tangent started by RPadholic tokz21, I wanted to talk about actors and actresses that you’ll always see as one character. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the silly Dream Team vs. 2012 USA Olympic basketball team debate, iPhone 5 rumors, or Marissa Mayer leaving Google to become the new Yahoo! CEO, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
Continuing a tangent started by RPadholic tokz21, I wanted to talk about actors and actresses that you’ll always see as one character. For example, Bill Pullman will always be Lone Starr from Spaceballs to me. No matter what movie or TV show Matthew Perry is in, it’s impossible for me not to see Chandler Bing from Friends. Tokz brought up Alison Pill from The Newsroom and seeing her as Kim Pine from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
The ultimate example of this (in my ridiculous head) is Lou Diamond Phillips. He will always be Ritchie Valens…or La Bamba. Stand and Deliver?!? That’s La Bamba Goes to School. Young Guns?!? That’s La Bamba Rides a Horse. I suppose Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker or William Shatner as Captain James Tiberius Kirk would have been easier examples, but La Bamba Goes to School is much funnier.
Anyway, kindly name some actors and actresses that you’ll always see in one role.
Olivia Munn had more lines than ever on the last episode of The Newsroom. Previously, I was floored that her character, Sloan Sabbith, has a PhD from Duke and is an adjunct professor at Columbia. That’s pretty unbelievable. This week it was revealed that her character has two PhDs. Wow. I know she’s acting and I realize this is fiction, but this has crossed the line from “pretty unbelievable” to “are you frickin’ kidding me?!?”. Believing a woman portrayed by Olivia Munn has two PhDs is akin to actually believing you can get super powers from radioactive spiders.
On the slightly more serious side, the Sloan Sabbith character actually developed this week. She’s supposed to be “the smartest person on the show”, but she lacks social skills and understanding. Normally, I would find this irresistibly charming, but the characterization underscores what a poor choice Munn was for this role. While there are many things wrong with Olivia Munn, she’s certainly charming and gregarious. She just doesn’t work as a socially awkward economics nerd, don’t you agree?
Internet impressionist Steve Love posted this video of impressions from Game of Thrones. He does a good job with most of the characters, using their lines from the show. A few of them he completely nails. Love caps off the video with some fun at the expense of Ser Jorah Mormont. The clip makes me want to end every sentence with the honorific “Khaleesi”. Great stuff!
Here’s a video that takes the Ned Stark vs. Jamie Lannister fight from Game of Thrones season one and adds lightsabers! As you know, lightsabers make everything better. Naturally, this fight scene is more thrilling thank to Jedi weapons. While it’s not as slick fun as The Princess Bride with lightsabers, it’s a fine video nonetheless.
