The Avengers: Iron Man vs. Thor

Here’s a sweet clip from The Avengers that pits the invincible Iron Man against the mighty Thor. It looks like it’ll be completely awesome on the big screen. Highlights include Thor inadvertently super-charging Tony’s armor with a blast of lightning and a cool exchange of head butts. These clips have me more and more excited for The Avengers! How about you?

Scarlett Johansson Sexy Fight Scene From The Avengers

Here’s a short and sexy teaser (not Brian Leahy) from The Avengers. This time around, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is tied up and wearing a sexy outfit. Watch her bust through her…uhm…bonds and beat up the bad guys. Also, this scene has some awesome jiggling. While there’s still a small part of me that worries about the movie, I’m sure that it’ll be totally worth it just to see this scene on the big screen.

Amazon Instant Video Now Available on PlayStation 3

Amazon and Sony have launched Amazon Instant Video for PlayStation 3. The service allows PS3 owners to buy and rent video content that’s streamed to their consoles. Amazon Prime subscribers also enjoy a “free” library of streaming movies and television shows. Amazon Instant Video has been available on numerous Blu-ray players, smart televisions, and streaming-video boxes. The PlayStation 3 is the first console the service has been available on.

I played around with Amazon Instant Video on my PS3 and was most impressed by this first effort. The navigation was smooth and content was easy to find. Playback wasn’t as good; the interface felt a bit clunky compared to Netflix. Perhaps I’ll get used to it over time, but right now I prefer the way Netflix handles playback.

Looking at the bigger picture, this is just another sign of what consoles have become. It’s no longer enough for consoles to play great games. They have to offer video, music, and social services too. While Netflix is available on all three major consoles, Amazon Instant Video is only available on the PlayStation 3 (for now). The console companies will be competing fiercely to differentiate their services as well as a native software. While Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony are fighting it out, gamers will get to enjoy the most powerful and diverse consoles ever. Cool.

Any of you excited to use Amazon Instant Video on your PS3?

Loki vs. Tony Stark: Avengers Head Count Trailer

The “head count” trailer for The Avengers completely owns. I’m cautiously excited for the movie, but trailers like this have me abandoning caution (and logic?). I know that team movies are hard to pull off and it’s way too easy for them to splinter, but the trailers are so good and I’m a fan of Joss Whedon’s comic-book writing. This is all going to work, right?!? Check out the trailer and let me know if you’re more or less excited for The Avengers after seeing it.

Indie Game…The Action Movie?!?

As someone with tremendous respect for game developers, I really enjoyed Indie Game: The Movie. It was fascinating and I loved learning more about game creators. That said, there were some parts that were so pretentious that they were squirm-inducing. With that in mind, I enjoyed Mega64’s parody, Indie Game: The Action Movie. Check it out below and let me know what you think (please)!

HBO Go Now Available for Xbox 360

Microsoft has rolled out a bunch of new apps for Xbox 360, including one for the outstanding HBO Go service. Available to HBO subcribers, HBO Go allows viewers to stream a ton of movies, television shows, and sports events. In the past, the network has allowed HBO Go users to catch early episodes of its original programming. In short, this service completely owns.

I use HBO Go on my iPad all the time. In fact, it’s probably my favorite app for streaming video, beating out Netflix, Crackle, and all those other pretenders. It offers a large library of excellent movies. It offers every episode of some of the best HBO original shows (Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, etc.). It also offers loads of great HBO Boxing fights. As an HBO mark, I’m thrilled that the service is now available for Xbox 360.

How about you guys and dolls? Are you psyched that HBO Go can be experienced on Xbox 360?

New Avengers Movie Poster and Trailer

Double your pleasure with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (wait, that sounds naughty)! Here’s the latest movie poster and trailer for The Avengers. I’m still cautiously optimistic about the movie (team movies are difficult), but the latest trailer has nullified most of my caution. It just looks big and exciting and fun! What do you think?

What Do You Think of the Noobz Movie Trailer?

You’ve seen the interview with director Blake Freeman and star Jason Mewes. You’ve watched (and were dazzled!) by the on-set interview with the legendary Casper Van Dien. Now check out the trailer for the videogame movie Noobz!!! In addition to the four main characters going on a zany road trip to play in a videogame tournament featuring Gears of War 3, highlights include my pal Adam Sessler playing himself and the awesome Jon Gries (Lazlo from Real Genius!) being the awesome Jon Gries.

I’m totally psyched for this movie. It’s kind of like American Pie for gamers. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think (please)!

WTF?!? Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Earlier in the week I woke up to the television playing a making-of feature on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I honestly thought I was dreaming, because this is the stupidest f*cking movie I’ve heard of in the last decade. I knew I wasn’t dreaming when one of the actresses said something along the lines of, “He was passionate about ending slavery, but he was also passionate about killing vampires.” The sheer stupidity of that comment woke me the hell up.

Is it really that hard to come up with an original plot and an original hero? Have things gotten so bad that we’re taking revered historical figures and placing them in asinine situations? I’m waiting for the sequel — John Adams: Werewolf Killer, which will be followed by Theodore Roosevelt and the Mummy’s Curse. In the immortal words of Randal Graves, “What the hell is wrong with this world?”
