Former ECW and WWE creative mastermind Paul Heyman has produced a series of videos for EA Sports MMA. His company, Looking 4 Larry, has done some fine work featuring MMA stars Frank Shamrock, Fabricio Werdum, and Cung Le. Check out the spots and let me know what you think (please)!

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011: Road to WrestleMania Screens
THQ sent over a batch of screens from SmackDown vs. Raw 2011’s “Road to WrestleMania” mode. Featured WWE Superstars include John Cena, Randy Orton, The Miz, and Christian. These screens illustrate some of the best writing ever made for a videogame. Check ’em out and let me know what you think (please)!

Faster Trailer (Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson)
Here’s the trailer for Faster, starring former WWE Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It shows off his natural chops as an action star, but is darker than his other movies. There’s blood, shooting, stabbing, and more. While I think The Rock is a fantastic comedian, most people prefer him as an action star. Faster looks like a great movie for fans of The Rock.
Let me know what you think of the trailer when you have a moment.
SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 DLC Announced: Nexus, NXT, and More!
THQ has announced details for the first two batches of DLC for the upcoming SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 (aka the game with the best writing in the world). I’m going to get all Michael Cole on you now. May I have your attention please? I have a press release from the general manager. It says, and I quote:
The first downloadable content package for Fan Axxess, currently scheduled for release this holiday season, will include WWE Legends British Bulldog and Lex Luger; WWE Superstars Wade Barrett, David Otunga and Justin Gabriel; WWE Diva Layla; alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars Shawn Michaels and Shad; and a playable WWE NXT arena. The downloadable content package will be included as part of the Fan Axxess program, as well as sold separately for the anticipated cost of 560 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $6.99 on PlayStation Network.
The second downloadable content package for Fan Axxess, currently scheduled for release in early 2011, will include alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars John Cena, Undertaker and CM Punk, as well as a playable WCW arena. The downloadable content package will be included as part of the Fan Axxess program, as well as sold separately for the anticipated cost of 240 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $2.99 on PlayStation Network.
I’m definitely interested in the first DLC batch. Most of you know that I’m a big Shawn Michaels mark. I also love Justin Gabriel’s 450 splash (which is almost as good as Austin Aries‘). The second one…I think I’ll pass.
Any of you interested in either DLC pack? Do you find it weird that DLC pricing and details are announced before the game is even out? Does it give you the “well why isn’t it in the game?” feeling?
Please Vote For AJ Lee in WWE NXT
Please vote for Miss AJ Lee in WWE NXT season three’s rookie poll. As some of you know, AJ is my ultimate woman — she wrestles, plays videogames, and reads comic books. A woman like this deserves your support, so please vote for her…a few times…throughout the day.
Coffee Talk #212: WWE NXT’s AJ Lee is My Ultimate Woman
Thanks to WWE NXT, I have found my new “ultimate woman” for the next decade — AJ Lee. She’s obviously a beautiful woman that wrestles, but I’ve learned that she loves comic books and videogames. I don’t see how you can beat this combination. She could beat the crap out of baby seals with a baseball bat she made from a tree plucked from a rain forest she decimated and I’d still adore her. She seems to be the perfect combination of beauty, brains, athleticism, and nerdcore.
Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, NFL week one, your favorite MTV VMA 2010 moments, or the big HTC/Nokia events this week, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

In case you were wondering (and even if you weren’t), Zoe Flower, my dearest BB, was my ultimate woman last decade. Now she’s an ultimate mommy. Given her new stage in life and the new decade, it seemed like the perfect time to find a new ultimate woman. May the reign of AJ Lee be a tremendous one!
Naturally, I want to know what you think of AJ. Do you have an ultimate woman? Is there anyone you can think of that can match AJ’s blend of beauty and geekiness?
WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 Screens
Here’s fresh batch of WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 screens — you know, that game with the phenomenal writing? This set includes shots of John Cena, The Miz, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Raymond Stereo Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, and sexy WWE Divas. There are no tables or chairs to be found, but there’s plenty of cage and ladder action. Check ’em out!

Coffee Talk #200: Gamers Should Hate Freddie Prinze, Jr.
It’s the 200th edition of Coffee Talk! I want to thank all of you for helping me make it this far!!! If you’d like to thank me then please do me a favor and start hating Freddie Prinze, Jr. You see, I saw him over Summer Slam weekend at the lobby of the Sheraton. Freddie used to be a writer for WWE and was visiting the wrestlers. Anyway, start hating him. Like now.

Freddie is young, handsome, and rich. He’s also a total nerd. He loves videogames. He loves wrestling. I hate that he turned his markdom into a job with WWE (especially when my WWE writing skills are far superior to his). I hate that he’s young, handsome, and rich. I hate that he’s married to an incredibly hot woman. And by hate, I mean I’m completely jealous of this man to the point where I almost have a crush on him.
To help me deal with this issue, please let me know if there are any celebrity gamers that you hate. If you like, I can hate them too!
Coffee Talk #199: My Summer Slam Weekend
Man that was an awesome weekend — great WWE action, fantastic friends, good food, and mingling with WWE Superstars! Here are some random highlights.

Man that was an awesome weekend — great WWE action, fantastic friends, good food, and mingling with WWE Superstars! Here are some random highlights.
– It’s always great to see the crew from Yuke’s Yokohama. I make lots of jokes about my tiny involvement in their game, but these cats work really hard to pump out a strong WWE game on a yearly schedule. They’re awesome.
– Melina is much prettier in person than on TV. I learned this when I met her a few years ago. I was reminded of it on Saturday. She’s also unnervingly sweet.
– The Sheraton bar was great on Saturday and Sunday. Among the people hanging out were WWE Champion Sheamus, Edge, Christian, Michael Hayes, Mark Henry, Kaval, R-Truth, Finlay, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Percy Watson, and Jack Swagger. I’m definitely forgetting a bunch of people.
– The only time I got nervous around WWE talent was when I bumped into Arn Anderson. The dude’s a legend and one of my all-time favorites. His spinebuster still rules!
– I marked out massively when Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) was announced for the Summer Slam main event. I enjoyed most of the card, but that had me out of my seat, screaming, and pumping my fist. (Keep in mind that I was in a luxury suite and not on the floor, where it would have been more appropriate.) Total mizzark moment.
– Hanging out with my boy Jose from Electric Playground is always excellent. However, two days of screaming “Ask him!!!”, “Excuse me!!!”, and “What’s up?!?” (like R-Truth’s) has completely screwed my voice for the week. And with that, I shall leave you with a song and a question: People on my site, what’s up?!?
My WWE Summer Slam 2010 Wish
As many of you know, I’m hitting up Summer Slam 2010 this Sunday. I’m really looking forward to the card, particularly the Raw vs. Nexus main event. It’s been one of the hottest angles all year and I’m hoping for a nice payoff that highlights some new talent. That said, there’s one thing missing…

…Bryan Danielson. I was super psyched that Danielson was part of NXT season one. He’s been one of my favorite Ring of Honor wrestlers for the last few years. Since Shawn Michaels retired, WWE hasn’t been the same for me and I was counting on Danielson to fill the void. Then he got fired for a seemingly ridiculous reason.
How awesome would it be for Danielson to be Raw’s seventh man (currently they have six to Nexus’ seven)?!? The Nexus would be trouncing the Raw Superstars when Danielson rushes to the ring. The Nexus would sport devious grins, thinking that they have an even greater advantage…when Danielson nails Wade Barrett with a punch, revealing his allegiance to Raw! It would be great for Danielson and extend the Nexus angle.
It’s probably not going to happen since Danielson’s schedule looks full, but who knows?!? He appears to have an opening on Sunday.
