Chris Jericho fans will want to check out this excellent transcript from a press conference conducted by Pro-Wrestling Illustrated. The presser took place in December, so some of the information is dated, but most of it is gold. Jericho candidly covers a wide variety of topics, giving some really excellent answers. It’s long, but totally worth reading.
If you have a moment, check it out and let me know what you think (please)!
Would you be into watching WrestleMania XXVII in 3D? You just might get the chance if The Wrestling Observer is right. According to the dirt sheet, the WWE is planning to make this year’s WrestleMania its first 3D broadcast.
I’m frightened by the prospect of sports entertainment in 3D. Don’t get me wrong — I’m all for seeing as many dimensions of the WWE Divas as possible (especially AJ Lee!). That said, too many wrestlers wear trunks. Seeing Sheamus’ milky thighs in HD is one thing. The thought of seeing them in three dimensions makes me shudder.
I know that most of you are anti-3D. Does WWE programming in 3D interest you or repulse you?
On last night’s episode of of Monday Night Raw, WWE announced that “The Hearbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame (excellent video above!). The ceremony will take place in Atlanta, GA on the Friday before WrestleMania XXVII.

Michaels has been my favorite wrestler of the last 15 years and I love that he’s headlining this year’s hall of fame class…but it seems off. Most of it has to do with the fact that he only stopped wrestling last year. Part of it has to do with Atlanta being a huge NWA/WCW city; I was hoping that this year’s class would focus on old NWA talent, centering around Arn Anderson and Michael “P.S.” Hayes. That said, I’m not going to complain — I’m too big of an HBK mark for that.
Man, I miss watching Michaels on TV. Just seeing him play around with the crowd, dance around like a tool, and deliver an awesome superkick to Alberto Del Rio (video below) reaffirmed that WWE hasn’t been the same for me since he retired. *sigh* Anyway, let me know what you think of Shawn Michaels headlining the WWE hall of fame class of 2011 when you have a moment.
You must watch the trailer for The Chaperone starring WWE Superstar Triple H (Paul Levesque). It’s one of the worst trailers I’ve seen in years. Hunter has been one of the most consistent WWE wrestlers for the last 15 years. As a movie lead, his career is off to a remarkably crappy start.
On a side note, why don’t more WWE fans find it strange that wrestlers that suffer “severe” injuries and disappear for months return with a movie in the pipe?
The Miz (Mike Mizanin) has been WWE Champion for a little over a month. Some of you think he’s “unworthy” of being WWE Champion, yet he’s drawing real heat and getting all sorts of mainstream exposure. Do you think he’ll keep the strap going into WrestleMania XXVII (April 3, 2011)? Or is he merely a transitional champ that’s keeping the title warm for Randy Orton or John Cena? Kindly vote in today’s poll and discuss!
“The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels has posted a video that reveals his longterm plans with World Wrestling Entertainment. While he has made it clear that he has no plans to return as a regular in-ring performer, he appears eager to help the WWE move forward in various ways.
With his close friend Triple H doing more behind-the-scenes work, perhaps Michaels will contribute to the creative side of the business. Or perhaps he’ll take the ambassador role that Ric Flair had before he bailed to TNA. Whatever he does, I’m just happy that HBK will still be working with the company.
Here’s an excellent clip of WWE Champion The Miz on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In addition to talking about wrestling and The Real World, The Miz throws some videogame talk in the mix. Obviously he’s on the cover of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 (best writing ever!!!), but did you know that a young Mike Mizanin competed in the Nintendo World Championship regionals in Cleveland, Ohio?
And yes, one of the reasons I wanted to post this clip is because I know that some of you really hate The Miz. Ha!
The Fast and Furious movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. Paul Walker’s crappy acting mesmerizes me. I love that Vin Diesel is a giant nerd that plays Dungeons & Dragons (and by numerous local accounts is also secretly homosexual). How can this crappy series get even better?!? That’s easy — pit Diesel and Walker against Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!!! That’s exactly what’s going down in Fast Five. That’s sheer brilliance.
While it wasn’t as epic (to me, anyway) as when Shawn Michaels appeared on ESPN Bill Simmons’ podcast, WWE Champion The Miz recently appeared on the show. It’s cool (and a little weird) when my worlds collide. As many of you know, I love WWE wrestling and Bill Simmons is my favorite sports columnist. When those two things come together, it’s better than a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Download the podcast when you have a moment and let me know what you think (please)!
Former WWE Superstar and current TNA World Champion Jeff “The Drug Trafficker” Hardy posted a shoot video blasting CM Punk. He rips on Punk’s attitude and straight-edge lifestyle. He also comes across as a drugged-out loser. To make it a family affair, Matt Hardy adds a line about CM Punk’s relationship with Amy Dumas (WWE Lita). Longtime WWE fans will remember that Hardy and Dumas used to date…before she cheated on him with Edge. Holy crap. Pro-wrestling really is a soap opera!
Let me know what you think of the shoot when you have a chance. Do you think Hardy looks lame? Or is he 2010 cool?
