WrestleMania XXVII…in 3D?!?

Would you be into watching WrestleMania XXVII in 3D? You just might get the chance if The Wrestling Observer is right. According to the dirt sheet, the WWE is planning to make this year’s WrestleMania its first 3D broadcast.

I’m frightened by the prospect of sports entertainment in 3D. Don’t get me wrong — I’m all for seeing as many dimensions of the WWE Divas as possible (especially AJ Lee!). That said, too many wrestlers wear trunks. Seeing Sheamus’ milky thighs in HD is one thing. The thought of seeing them in three dimensions makes me shudder.

I know that most of you are anti-3D. Does WWE programming in 3D interest you or repulse you?

    1. I hate those little glasses! The only thing I plan on supporting that is 3D is the 3DS only because it is a Nintendo handheld and I want to support Nintendo handhelds, not 3D technology.

      1. I don't believe in supporting any piece of technology based on who made it. If it's worth buying, and reasonably priced, I'll buy it. So far I've yet to see 3D tech that makes me say "ooooooh….gotta have it."

      2. My point was that it wasn’t the 3D tech that was influencing me wanting to purchase a 3DS, but the manufacturer- what I expect from the company behind the product and my previous knowledge of their products before. It has nothing to do with 3D tech giving me the “gotta have it” feeling, but that a Nintendo handheld is what makes me feel that.

      3. I got that. But I also don't think that buying it simply because it's "Nintendo" makes any sense either. How many people bought iPhone4's that didn't work simply because it was "Apple?"

      4. Why is brand loyalty a bad reason to buy something? I have never been let down by a Nintendo handheld in the past, I love a lot of the games (or enough of them) to keep myself busy on each system, and I believe that the future Nintendo handhelds will give me the same quality of fun and games as previous systems have. Also, I try to always make a clear distinction between their handhelds and their full systems as I did not care for the Gamecube at all.

Also, if Pokemon Black/White were on the 3DS only and not compatible with my DSi then that alone would be all the justification I would need to purchase a 3DS. Although I wasn’t the biggest fan of the third generation of Pokemon games, the fourth generation being released was the main (and only one at the time) factor for me purchasing me first DS lite.

      5. When you say "The only thing I plan on supporting that is 3D is the 3DS only because it is a Nintendo handheld and I want to support Nintendo handhelds, not 3D technology," that doesn't really make any sense to me. If you don't care for 3D tech, then buying something just because it's Nintendo flies in the face of that. Shouldn't you need more than just the name on the box as provocation to purchase something?

      6. bsukenyan's logic can apply in this case because the 3D is optional. If you don't like the 3D feature, you can turn it off and still enjoy great, new Nintendo games that won't be available on any other system.

      7. Not when I trust the quality of Nintendo handhelds. Also, since the 3DS will not require any glasses to work properly that is a good incentive too. My main motivation for wanting to purchase a 3DS still remains that it is a Nintendo handheld though, and I don’t see anything wrong with trusting a brand that has never let me down and which I have always chosen in the end even over console systems.

      1. I just wouldn’t want to see all that shit he had coming out of his mouth looking like it was going to fall into my lap.

        That dude was gross.

Imagine if 3D was used when Mae Young went topless.

    1. I was hoping that it was already dead.

We just have to keep people from buying 3D content. If the cable card slot fiasco is any indication, all it takes is for people not to buy/use/understand something and it’ll go away pretty quick.

I guess it also helps to have an entire industry backing you up instead of pouring countless dollars into 3D promotion.

      -M
