Theme Song of 2010: “Pants on the Ground”
Ladies and gentlemen, last night on American Idol, General Larry Platt unleashed what could go down in history as the song of the decade: “Pants on the Ground”. At the very least, it should be the theme song of 2010. What better way to start of a new decade than with your pants on the ground? Right?!?
Give it a listen and let me know what you think (please)!
Beyonce Gets Her Nintendo DSi Groove On in Style Savvy
I’m pretty sure that none of you are interested in Style Savvy for Nintendo DS, but a few of you will want to check out these photos of Beyonce filming a commercial for the game. She’s beautiful and talented…and according to a certain hip-hop artist is responsible for one of the greatest videos of all time. According to the press materials:
Beyonce has fun during filming of two upcoming commercials for Style Savvy, a new fashion game for the portable Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi, in Long Island City, New York. Five designs from the real-life Dereon clothing line co-created by Beyonce and her mother, designer Tina Knowles, will be available for download in Style Savvy in the coming months.
Well, I’m glad she had fun. Ha!
Japan Getting Michael Jackson “This is It” PS3 Bundle
Japan is getting a Michael Jackson This is It PlayStation 3 bundle on January 27, 2010. It sounds weird, but this is Japan, where they bundle everything. An RPad.tv bundle is due out in May (not really). This special edition PS3 will support the DVD and Blu-ray release of This is It. Kotaku has reported:
Priced at ¥33,500 (US$366), the bundle includes a 120GB Hard Disk Drive “Charcoal Black” PS3, a Blu-ray copy of This Is It, a wireless DualShock 3, a power cord, one AV cable and one USB cable.
At last, a Japanese special edition PS3 that I don’t want. Ha!
“I’m on a Mac” Gives Apple the Auto-tune Treatment
This excellent “I’m on a Mac” video is a parody of The Lonely Planet’s “I’m on a Boat”. It’s cute and clever. More importantly, it shows how utterly ridiculous auto-tune is. I absolutely hate the effect and its overuse in today’s popular music. I blame Cher for making it so popular.
Anyway, check out the video and let me know what you think (please)!
Coffee Talk #54: Your Favorite Holiday Gifts
Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the blood testing controversy delaying the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight, digesting your holiday feast(s), or your New Year’s Eve plans, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
And we’re back! Well, I’m back anyway. Hopefully a bunch of you around to keep me company this week. I’m still in New York for the holidays, but I’ll be updating the site all week. The bad news is that most of the videogame business is on holiday, so nothing too exciting should happen. The good news is that you ladies and gents that read this site and leave comments are always more interesting than the news the gaming business generates.
For now, I wanted to check on your holiday gifts. I hope everyone got some cool stuff! Whether it’s gaming related or not, I’d love to hear about some of your favorite gifts.
My brother made me two CDs of Journey MP3s without the vocals. The music is from a Journey tribute band he’s in and he’s pushing me to lay some vocals down. I’m definitely going to do it as some point, but I rather have my trusty Shure SM58 around when I do it. It’s a pretty cool gift that takes my karaoke habit to a new level. Ha! (And yes, the video above is from one of his other bands, not the Journey tribute band.)
While I practice “Stone in Love” and “Faithfully” all day, I’d love to read about some of your favorite presents this year. Leave ’em in the comments section (please)!

Play Guitar Hero 5 with “Weird” Al Yankovic
As part of Microsoft’s Game with Fame series, Xbox Live members will have a chance to play Guitar Hero 5 with “Weird” Al Yankovic on Tuesday, December 15. His session takes place from 7PM to 9PM ET. To get in the game in Weird Al, send a friend request to “WeirdAl GwF” and be online 30 minutes before the session starts.
I usually ignore all the Game with Fame promos, but this one was too awesome to pass up. I am a huge Weird Al mark. I love parodies of all kinds and Yankovic has provided some of the best. Whether you’re talking about “Eat It”, “Amish Paradise”, or his brilliant polkas, I’m totally down with Weird Al.
Do you have a favorite “Weird” Al Yankovic song?
