This Week’s Videogame Releases

February getting to chilly for you? Then let these hot games warm you up! Bulletstorm has been getting a ton of buzz for its unapologetic action and this Mike “Busta” Capps interview (*snicker*). Killzone 3 is sure to dazzle PS3 action fans. If those action games aren’t for you then perhaps Knights Contract is just what the doctor ordered. I’m personally hoping De Blob 2 does well; the first game was refreshingly original and I hear that the second one is even better. Last but not least is a pair of excellent RPG re-releases for the PSP: Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Ys I and II.

Anyone picking up new games this week?

  1. I was so hopeful about bulletstorm before, but after playing the demo I just don't think I will get it. Whenever I play Gears 3 I might rent this to play since they are pretty much identical in the way they feel (to me at least). I will probably won't be picking it up at all though like I had previously thought.

  2. i placed my order for Kzone 3 and DCUO. you should get credit. please let me know if u see them!

    1. It's definitely not for everyone. In my head I see a dozen frat boys huddled around a TV enjoying the hell out of it. For me it's like The Expendables of videogames. I understand the popularity and appreciate what it offers, but it's not in my wheelhouse.

      1. I guess. Whereas I find something like Gears or Expendables entertaining and fun….Bulletstorm doesn't offer my any entertainment value. The over the top part is not very well done in my opinion. To each their own though.

Welcome back. Give your impression of Bulletstorm please. I've noted 3 folks here who just say it isn't for them. Curious to see who would like it and why.

      1. Played through the demo twice. Thought maybe I had missed the fun part. Somehow the game doesn't feel unique as it might have on paper. It just feels like another shooter. I know it makes it out like there are lots of options, but I just didn't care for any of it. Maybe the full game will be better. I might give it a rent if I get bored.

      2. Some of the controls and ideas behind the style points seem really cool, but it simply feels like another Gears game with a different skin to me—and although I like the Gears of War games well enough, they definitely are not my favorites out there. The movements are weird to me and I don't always feel like I am in total control. Wish I could say I loved the game, but I can't.
