Spider-Man Reboot Trailer Leaked

Here’s a leaked trailer of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot starring Andrew Garfield. It’s most likely the trailer that was going to be used to dazzle the kids at Comic Con 2011. You can watch it now in all of its filmed-off-a-screen glory! The trailer was originally posted by We Got This Covered.

Please check it out when you have a chance and let me know what you think of that guy from the Facebook movie playing Spider-Man.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer: Batman vs. Bane!

The Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer debuted with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and high quality versions are finally available online! It’s short and it’s subtle, but the ending is killer. I love how it closes with a seemingly unsure-of-himself Batman facing off against Bane. While he doesn’t exactly look like the Bane that dazzled me in the Knightfall storyline, he appears to be much closer to the real thing than that crap Bane from 1997’s Batman & Robin.

Any thoughts on the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises?

Netflix Hits Nintendo 3DS, 3D Content Coming Soon

Netflix has launched a client for the Nintendo 3DS portable gaming console. Considering that Netflix is already available on all sorts of platforms, that seems like a fairly ho-hum announcement. That said, there is one notable facet of the announcement — Nintendo announced 3D content on Netflix before Netflix did. Here’s a clip from the press release:

The new Netflix application for Nintendo 3DS displays movies and TV episodes in 2D on the system’s upper screen. Users will soon have access to an additional library of select movies that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses.

For fans of 3D movies, the 3DS could be a compelling option for Netflix on-the-go. It will be interesting to see if other mobile 3D products, like the Android-powered LG G-Slate on T-Mobile, will be pulling from the same content pool as the 3DS or if Nintendo has some degree exclusivity.

I know that most of you aren’t into the 3Ds and that most of you aren’t into 3D movies, but I have to ask if 3D Netflix content on the Nintendo 3DS interests you. Would you use Netflix on your 3DS? Or are you satisfied with mobile Netflix on your Android or iOS device?

Today’s Poll: What Do You Think of Netflix’s New Pricing?

Netflix recently announced some upcoming changes to its subscription rates. The old $19.99 plan that included unlimited streaming and DVD rentals will die. Unlimited streaming will continue for $7.99 a month, while unlimited DVD rentals will cost $15.99 per month. If you currently enjoy streaming and renting discs then your monthly cost will rise to $23.98 starting September 1, 2011.

I know that most of you are Netflix subscribers, but I don’t know if you’re all about streaming or if you also rent physical media. What do you think of the new Netflix plans? Kindly take today’s poll and explain your choice in the comments section!

Beats, Rhymes, and Life Trailer (A Tribe Called Quest)

I’m so psyched for Beats, Rhymes, and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest. The documentary will see a limited release on July 8, 2011 and I plan on catching it as soon as I can (I’ll be in Hawaii and I’m not sure where it’ll be playing or how I can get there.). I love A Tribe Called Quest. I love that era of hip-hop. Groups like Tribe and Diggable Planets made for a cool and stylish hip-hop period. It wasn’t about pimps, gangs, coastal warfare, etc. It was all about slick beats, sweet samples, and smooth lyrics. I’m looking forward to reliving those times and seeing today’s hip-hop stars pay tribute to A Tribe Called Quest (represent, represent!).

Check out the trailer when you have a chance and let me know what you think (please)!

Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn Admits to Steroid Use

Controversial actor Charlie Sheen told Sports Illustrated that he used steroids while playing pitcher Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn in the movie Major League. Known for his love of controlled substances, expensive call girls, and nonsensical statements, Sheen’s admission shouldn’t come as a surprise. Here’s a clip from the SI interview:

I was already bitchy because — let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit. It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did it for like six or eight weeks. You can print this, I don’t give a f—. My fastball went from 79 to like 85.

I wasn’t doing enough to be completely insane — just a little bitchier than normal.

I think it led to my arm problems because it doesn’t enhance the strength of the tendons and ligaments, it just makes the muscles bigger.

Of course it’s not enough that several professional baseball players used performance-enhancing drugs. Naturally, make believe baseball players used them too. What a silly world we live in.

JK Rowling Announces Pottermore, Coming October 2011

JK Rowling has announced her plans for the web site Pottermore. The site will expand on the world of her Harry Potter books by offering new information, e-books, and interactive contests. The Leaky Cauldron has a long list of the site’s features. Here are a few:

  • Pottermore is an interactive new Web site and reading experience with more than 18,000 new words from J.K. Rowling: Much more to come.
  • JKR behind the scenes filming the video picture.
  • An online experience to read, interact with and share the Harry Potter stories. Exclusive writing from J.K. Rowling and more.
  • Pottermore will feature infromation J.K. Rowling has been “hoarding” for years about Harry Potter.
  • Pottermore will be the exclusive place to purchase the digital audio books and, at last, eBooks of the Harry Potter series.

I’m interested in Rowling’s additional stories and finally being able to purchase digital versions of the Harry Potter books, but a lot of the site’s other features aren’t my thing. And you? Are you interested in Pottermore? What features of the site excite you?

Moneyball Trailer is…

…awesome! Hear me out on this one. I loved the Moneyball book. I loved that Billy Beane (portrayed by Brad Pitt in the movie!) modernized baseball’s archaic scouting system. I loved that a lot of baseball people misunderstood and dismissed what Beane was doing with the Oakland A’s; they thought he was all about buying on-base percentage when he was actually all about buying whatever was undervalued at the time. I lost respect for the legendary Joe Morgan for flipping off Moneyball without even reading it. Billy Beane truly revolutionized the way baseball teams are made, the way players are scouted, and how stats are used acquire players.

I’m so ready to love this movie. While I don’t think it will be as big as The Social Network, I think it will be The Social Network movie for sports fans. Anyone with me on this one?
