Coffee Talk #486: Whataya Want From Nintendo at E3 2012?

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, your reaction to the John Edwards trial, Randy Orton violating WWE’s wellness policy, or my awesome (unofficial) Chris Jericho t-shirt, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

After discussing Microsoft and Sony, let’s close out your E3 2012 wishes and predictions with Nintendo. Out of the three console manufacturers, Nintendo has the most to lose or gain at E3 2012. It’s the only company showing new hardware — the Wii U. After massive success with the Nintendo DS and Wii, Nintendo’s recent fortunes haven’t been as hot. The 3DS is selling well, but the company’s financials are way down. Many pundits believe that the Wii U won’t have the same success as its predecessor. What say you?

Personally, I’m still waiting for Nintendo to dazzle the world with the Wii Vitality Sensor. Remember that thing? Ha!

Anyway, now’s your turn to share your E3 2012 wishes, predictions, and expectations. Fire away in the comments section as you listen to Adam Lambert (please!).

  1. I just want to know more about the Wii-U and I hear they (the big N) are finally releasing a legit racing game (without licences but with likeness) that doesn't require power ups and turtle shells to win.

  2. Exactly. The Wii U has been oddly missing from the news in the last year since it was announced. We haven't been shown any footage of new games running on it, we don't know too much about the hardware and specs, and I WANNA KNOW NOW!

Also, I want them to announce that the DS Lite will be sold in stores again. Just sayin'.

    1. Look at a modern PC game…WiiU won't even be close. In other words it will be underwhelming like when the other 2 consoles release new machines.

  3. I wanna know what the deal is with the Wii U. We haven't really seen squat yet, and it's supposedly coming out this fall. Time to put up or shut up.

  4. Okay guys, I just finished a Survival Games round in Minecraft, and the video is being uploaded to YouTube. Once it's online, I'll put a link on one of the pages so you guys can see. Unfortunately, I may or may not be in the finals. Me and one of my teammates lagged out about the same time, so we're uncertain which of us got 3rd. The owner said I was 4th, but everybody else says I was 3rd, so I'm not sure. Also, one of the finalists was banned for some reason and there are now only 8, so I'm campaigning with my other friend to be in the finals. Wish me luck, guys!

  5. Newsflash: Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation has just been announced for the PS Vita, and I've heard that it's coming out later this year! This is the sort of thing that needs to be covered at E3!

  6. I'd like Nintendo to give me a reason to shell out money for their product this year. So far the other 2 big names haven't done so. The Me Too and Sequel pressers pretty much said this "hey you played the others, buy these!"

Granted Nintendo does the same thing with their established franchises so I'm looking forward to a new Miyamoto IP shown for Wii U.
