2010 Videogames: The Year in Review

In case you missed any of these excellent videos starring 1Up.com’s Sam Kennedy, Gamasutra’s Christian Nutt, and GameFly Media’s (Shacknews) Garnett Lee, here they are! Let’s start with their favorite games of 2010. Find out why these three excellent writers felt that Bayonetta, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, and Red Dead Redemption were the cream of the crop.

Next, find out why Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIV, and Gran Turismo 5 were the most disappointing games of the year to Christian, Sam, and Garnett.

Discovering sleeper hits is always a fantastic thing. There are games we all love that don’t get the attention they deserve. In the following segment, my dynamic guests tell you why Split Second, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and Bayonetta should have your attention.

Last, but certainly not least, is the biggest gaming news in 2010. In a truly fascinating year for the business that kicked off tons of change, Garnett, Sam, and Christian reveal what news they thought had the biggest impact.

If you have any closing thoughts on videogames in 2010, speak now or forever hold your peace!

  1. So… does that mean you won't join my club: The National Association of Apathetic Colligate People?

You can join if you want to, but we really don't care either way.

      1. Yeah, that's where I got the idea from. Funny you should bring up that clip, Tokz, because I found your club right here:

Also, I would like to issue the disclaimer that I am a member of the Brain slug party… as you all will be as well one day, MUAH, HA, HA, HA, HA!!!

      2. yeah that's a great episode. i actually think they're all great. they should've made a hypno toad party,

    1. That's also not how you spell Collegiate (Colligate is a verb) and the acronym is already taken by the NAACP….

But I doubt your group cares.

      1. I wasn't trying to spell "Collegiate", because that pertains to people in college. I really did mean "colligate" as in "to bring or bind together". Upon reflection, I guess I should have gone with "colligation" (as in National Association of the Apathetic Colligation of People) instead of it's verb form, so consider yourself half right.

I'm also happy that at least one person picked up on the acronym, although I better not show it because they'll kick me out of the club if they find out.

P.S.- Also, "colligate/colligation" is a much better word to use than "Color".

      2. I got an invitation to join NABA. National Association of Black Accountants. Wonder if they will rescind if I show up to their invitation dinner?

      3. HA! You want to know the real irony: If they do rescind the invitation, that's actually racial discrimination.

Back at the University of Miami, we had the group UBS (United Black Students) next to our club offices in the student life building and it was pretty funny because about one fifth of their members were white. No university-sanctioned organization can discriminate based on color, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc., etc. so UBS couldn't deny white students from joining just based on their skin color. It always made me wonder why the hell they still had the word "Black" as part of their club name instead of just renaming the group: "United Students Who Like Hip Hop Music Way Too Much For Their Own Good"

      4. @Iceman

I thought about joining up and paying the dues just to put it on my resume. Hell, I join all of the other organizations might as well add this one to the list of them.

        Phi Kappa Phi

        IMA

        now NABA

        eerily close to NAMBLA
