Here are a bunch of photos of the Samsung Fascinate for Verizon, a Google Android phone in Samsung’s Galaxy S series. It’s a very impressive piece of hardware with some curious — some say controversial — software choices by Verizon. In addition to a gorgeous Super AMOLED screen, the Fascinate packs a powerful CPU/GPU combo. I’ll write my initial impressions of the phone later this evening. For now, check out these pics (costarring the Motorola Droid 2 for size comparison) and let me know if you have any questions about the phone.
Disclaimer: A few of the pics are off center. It’s tough taking pictures indoors while you’re wearing prescription sunglasses.

nice looking device. I look forward to your impressions. Please elaborate on the VZ navigator vs free google maps. I see so much griping about that.
I'm also anxious for the HTC unveiling tomorrow morning. WOOT
@smartguy Bing Maps and — more importantly — Bing search are the defaults. I installed Google Maps, but haven't tried Navigator on it yet. Currently, there's no way to replace Bing as the default search engine.
I keep reading that the VZ navigator pops up when you want to use a maps app. VZ bloat if you will lol.
What did you do with that droid x?
The picture of the Droid 2 and the Fascinate side by side really shows the difference in the screen technology.
@Big Blak Yeah, the difference between TFT LCD and Super AMOLED is pretty dramatic. That said, I'm much happier being back on a decent sized screen.
@smartguy I sent back the Droid X in early August.
Are the main buttons at the bottom very responsive? On my captivate sometimes it takes several taps to get them to respond and the backlight on them goes out after about 2 seconds.
Also you should load up a game or neocore and watch how dang fast the Galaxy S is.
@ Slicky
I have a question for you that I asked in today's Coffee Talk.
The post started with me addressing it to Iceman (but it should have been Thundercracker).
