Buy a PSPgo and Get Three Games for Free

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced a promotion for its PSPgo handheld gaming system — buy a PSPgo by March 31, 2011 and get a coupon code good for three downloadable games. The PSPgo is sexy as hell, but it hasn’t sold as well as Sony would have liked. Perhaps this promotion will give it a boost. Here are more details from marketing manager Kristin Neirinckx (great Scrabble score on her last name):

If you purchase a PSPgo system from today through March 31, 2011, you will receive an e-mail with a PlayStation Network voucher to download three games absolutely free! With premiere titles such as LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3, the PSPgo “Digital Game Pack” offers you an $80 value while giving you access to a great variety of our biggest games to get you started gaming on-the-go. What better way to get started with an all digital, full-scale, console-quality handheld gaming experience?

Are any of you tempted by this promotion? Do you think it’s enough to give the PSPgo a significant sales spike? Or is the portable in dire need of a price cut?

  1. I wouldn't buy those games anyway, so no it doesn't entice me. It also needs a price cut.

  2. im just not a fan of the PSPGo, having a digital download only format scares me. A price cut wouldn't entice me either.

  3. I love my PSP3000 for the size of it. The PSPGo is too small. Also if it has less parts (no UMD reader) and is smaller why does it cost so much more than the PSP 3000? It needs a severe price cut. I know the internal storage costs more but I doubt many people look at that.

Smaller screen, same functionality, $70 more. PSPGo will never make it unless something changes. Even free games won't do it.

  4. why would anyone who knows anything about gaming buy one of these with all the talk of a psp2 announcement at e3?

    im all over that psp2

  5. @thundercracker That's a fair point for people like us, but I'm sure there will be some people that aren't too familiar with the market that will jump on the promo. I question if that number is significant, however.

  6. That makes me not want to get one now. I don't like any of those games and the pspgo design is a major turn of for me, heres hoping the psp2 will rock (at as low as a price as possible).
