NPD Console Sales Figures Top 10 Games of February 2010

Here are NPD Group’s console software sales figures for February 2010 (sorry for the lateness!). Along with the usual Nintendo sales, there were some pleasant surprises that should make every hardcore gamer happy.

  1. BioShock 2 (Xbox 360: 562,900
  2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii): 555,600
  3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360): 314,300
  4. Just Dance (Wii): 275,400
  5. Wii Sports Resort (Wii): 272,500
  6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfware 2 (PlayStation 3): 252,800
  7. Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360) 246,500
  8. Dante’s Inferno (PlayStation 3): 242,500
  9. Dante’s Inferno (Xbox 360): 224,700
  10. Heavy Rain (PlayStation 3): 219,300

I’m thrilled that BioShock 2 snagged the top spot in February. I’m even more thrilled that Heavy Rain managed to crack the top 10, despite being released at the end of the month. As you can imagine, seeing a BioWare game on the list makes me happy (duh). It’s also cool to see a new IP like Dante’s Inferno make the cut. Last month I was surprised that Just Dance made the list, but a lot of people in the business play it (to my astonishment). One game designer I know shocked me at GDC when he said that he plays it for at least an hour a day.

Now’s the important part — let me know what you think of NPD Group’s top 10 games of February 2010. Anything surprise you?

  1. When I first glanced at this list I didn't think of it in terms of new IP/ old IP, and it was a little disappointing to me that the new IP games are at the very end of the list, but I am glad to see them on there.

  2. There's a real shortage of games on this list that came out in February. I think that will change radically in March, which seems to be absolutely stacked with games I want to play.

  3. I am loving bioshock 2, finished the story last night then jumped on multiplayer. Got my but handed to me until I found the big daddy suit, still got my but handed to me but not as bad!

  4. Just Dance is a surprise, but then again I didn’t know it existed either lol. Most, if not all of the rest wasn’t really much of a surprise actually.

I haven’t gotten Bioshock 2 yet. I do want it because I loved the first one. Bioshock 2 just didn’t seem like a day one buy for me. I’ll buy later when the price is lowered.

  6. RROD, sup dude?, bioshock 2 is not hard to recomend at full retail price. since you were a fan of the first (as i was) you will really enjoy the second. the story is told the same way as the first, but alot darker and edgier!
the game is alot harder too! in the first i always felt like there was nothing I couldnt take down, this one however, will whip you silly if you dont plan out your attack on the splicers and whatnots.
