It’s still a light week in the videogame-release department, but there are a few titles of interest that you might want to keep an eye on. EA brings back its brothers of destruction inĀ Army of Two: The 40th Day. That is, by far, the biggest release of the week. Outside of that, there’s an interesting DS RPG and a game for fans of winter sports…and that’s about it. As always, let me know if you’re picking up any of this week’s video releases.
PlayStation 3
Army of 2: The 40th Day — I’m pretty sure Kane and The Undertaker would wreck these guys.
Vancouver 2010: Offivial Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games — I totally forgot that the Olympics are happening this year. I guess I pay more attention to the summer games than the winter games.
Xbox 360
Army of 2: The 40th Day
Vancouver 2010: Offivial Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games
Nintendo Wii
Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces
Walk it Out — Base on the hit song by The Beatles…oh wait, it’s not.
PlayStation Portable
Army of 2: The 40th Day
Nintendo DS
Daniel X — A interactive retelling of one of the most powerful civil rights leaders in America. Okay, I totally made that up.
Sands of Destruction
Last thing I need is to be neck high in RPG's lol, considering I'm already waist high in those I haven't gotten to finish (I didn't get to finish Dragon Age this weekend like I had planned, I partied with the hubby's family instead). Not to mention I picked up Darksiders Saturday. My plate is full until Feb lol.
I'd really rather this was Mass Effect 2 week…..
Darksiders is a damn good game. Very happy with my purchase.
@Smartguy – absolutely. Trying to figure out if I have the stamina needed to do the whole thing again on Apocalyptic. Might give that a shot… but enjoyable nonetheless.
@Nightshade386
I still need to beat ME1 one more time before 2 comes out and that is after I finish unlocking weapons with the character I'm using now. I still haven't decided which gun type I want to devote myself to….
@larcenous
I will beat it on Apocalyptic eventually…but not in the next 10 months probably. Games like that I need to take a break from for a long while. It loses its luster after I go through it the first time and collect everything. Then again, it is pretty fun so I could see myself giving it a shot in a few months.
@Sandrock: Better get to work then!! Time is running out on you. lol.
@Smartguy – Oh god, I'm happy with that purchase too. I'll be almost afraid to try Apocalyptic mode lol.
@ME2 – After watching a number of the class vids they have released so far, and I kind of at odds over what to play first. My first ME1 playthrough was as a pure engineer, so chances are I am going to take that route just to continue with my version of shepard. The other ones look pretty scary too though. So many choices.
@Cami
they sell that in Mississippi???? :)
it is so fun.
@ME2
I have been avoiding any new relating to that game since they revealed the Normandy getting blown up. I would have (not) enjoyed finding that one out on my own. Have they said anything specific about carrying you characters over, like whether the keep their lvl and abilities? If not then I can just skip unlocking things and finish my main game already.
@Smartguy – :P
@Sandrock – you don't keep levels or abilities, but the choices you made regarding characters dying and politics seem to carry over. Apparently the stuff in the beginning affects Shepard enough that you can pick a different class. Also they have changed the weapon skill system, so as not to require points anymore, and apparently everyone can use everything. We'll see though.
@LarcenousLaugh
That sucks, I liked the point system more than Dragon Age's D&D system. Guess I should just make my Adapt and Infiltrator then. (I still feel like achievement hunting though lol)
Refresh my memory on how it is in ME1 and will be in ME2 and what the fundamental differences will be as far as combat is concerned.
@Sandrock – they still use points for skills, but they just removed weapon skills. The class videos still show a points tree for skill development.
@Smartguy – combat looks a lot more polished and faster as a result of the work they have done. Supposedly you can stil slow it down and micr-manage your squad, but it looks like a stronger overall experience.
@larcenous
cool. Glad it still caters to spray and pray.
@Smartguy
I actually found that to be the hardest strategy to use in ME1. All the guns that would/should work like that were to hindered by their heat limits. It would be nice if I could snipe without every enemy getting alerted though.
I downloaded the demo of the 40th nearly a month ago, but I still haven't gotten around to playing it. Now that classes started back today, I know I won't have time.
yeah I pulled the demo for this down a little bit back. haven't messed with it. I mainly wanted to see if the visuals had improved over the first one.
I meant to play it 40th Day this weekend, but I rented Bayonetta and Batman AA and forgot about it. Bayonetta was okay, but Batman AA was a blast. I played on of the challenges and I lasted about 2 minutes before I thought my thumbs was going to fall off because the fighting hordes of people is really just button mashing and little to no strategy.
I am going to play it first thing when I get home in 30 minutes though.
@ Slicky
Negative on the AA challenge rooms.
It seems like that at first, but when you start to go for those higher scores you find that you have to time your shots and counters perfectly.
@40th Day
I liked the weapon customization and AI behaviors in the demo. I might put the first one on my game que after I finish Bayonetta.
Seems like a slow week in releases for me. Nothing that i'm interested in for this week. But I also did forget about the winter games, now I'm excited for snowboarding.
Rented Darksiders, pretty good. Played Army of Two demo, pretty meh.
@RROD
Darksiders is damn good.
