Sulu Wants Star Wars and Star Trek Fans to Combat Twilight

The legendary George Takei (Star Trek’s Hikaru Sulu!) is calling for “Star Peace” — a movement that aims to unite Star Wars and Star Trek fans against the evil of Twilight. This is truly one of the most worthwhile causes I’ve heard of in years! Naturally, an Asian-American man is bringing everyone to their senses. Check out the video above and let me know what you think (please!).

Now kindly excuse me as I have to find my phaser and lightsaber. Hopefully they both work against bloodsucking teenagers.

Cello Wars (Star Wars Parody) Lightsaber Duel Rules!!!

This Star Wars musical parody by The Piano Guys is one of the best Internet videos I’ve seen in 2011. It’s funny, creative, and awesome all the same time. The music is great. The costumes are great. The comedy is fantastic. I completely love this video! If I wasn’t poor, I’d donate money to The Piano Guys just for making this highly entertaining video.

How about you? Check it out and let me know what you think (please!).

Star Wars: The Old Republic Launching on December 20, 2011

BioWare and LucasArts have announced that the highly-anticipated MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic will arrive on December 20, 2011. The launch date is fascinating. Major game releases typically stop in early December. A lot of my industry friends are thinking, “Sorry family. I’m abandoning you this Christmas.” Others are surprised that the game is coming out for the holidays, simply because MMOs are typically “me” purchases and not gifts.

I think it’s a brilliant time to launch an MMO. A lot of people have time off at the end of December and the beginning of January. That’s the perfect time to create SWTOR addicts! I can see lots of people giving the game a shot while they’re off from work or school. They’ll return to the office or the classroom and dream about their SWTOR life all day.

Of course I could be wrong. The pull of family and friends might be too much for the Force. What do you think about the unusual launch date of Star Wars: The Old Republic? Is it a great time to create subscribers? Or will the game lose out to Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa joy?

Upcoming Clone Wars Reveal Secrets of Sith and Darth Maul

Future episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will reveal a new villain that reveals major secrets of the sith and Darth Maul. The baddie, Savage Opress, will be revealed in 2010 at special screenings that you can attend. Here’s more info from StarWars.com:

For the first time ever, Sith training will be explored – and with it, truths about the very nature of the dark side itself!

A warrior forged by a dark sorcery as mystical and powerful as the Force, Opress will uncover shocking revelations about the galaxy’s tenuous balance of power, including secrets about one of the Sith’s most infamous villains — Episode I’s Darth Maul! From his origins to his fate, Maul’s mysteries will at long last be uncovered…

I haven’t been watching The Clone Wars, but several friends tell me that it’s really good. I also liked Darth Maul in Episode I, but a lot of that had to do with him being a mysterious character that didn’t say or reveal much (you know, the Boba Fett ploy). I’m intersted and a little afraid to learn about his origins. That said, I’ll definitely be tuning in to see if his background is any good.

How about you? Are you interested in learning more about Darth Maul, the sith, and Savage Opress?
