  1. i should say since i just got a brand new laptop in august i automatically get windows 7 for free… so that kind of skews my vote hehe

  2. Ditto here, N8R… as long as I've used computers, I've always been a proud Apple user. I'm not the senseless fanboy type, I just have no interest in using their system/s. Though Star Trek Online interests me enough that I *may* get some form of Windows on here for dual boot, unless I do get a PC laptop for software development/demonstration for the publishing company I'm opening.

Personally, I find it amusing that a lot of the features on both systems are fairly similar, and yet some of the debates are more heated than ever. I'll reserve my judgement on the matter though ;)

  3. @ thisguy

I hear. My wife has a PC that she reformats every 2 months and hates it. I had one at my office until I got laid off.

Everything I do on a computer is either graphics, sound, or screw around on the internet. All of that (I found) is way easier and safer on a Mac. I have the Windows option, but I haven't had a good reason to utilize it yet. I have a few programs that are PC only that make some of the graphics things "easier" but that's it.

I don't really play that many games on my computer.

  4. Running Snow Leopard now. No need for Win7.

N8R mentioned games…I bought Aion…didn't like it…removed the windows partition and thusly decided if I am going to play a computer game it will only be made by Blizzard. I'm not strictly speaking of mmo type games…but they are the best in the business in whatever they do. So once again, no need for Win7.

  5. My friend has had Windows 7 for -months- now, and my little brother got it last week……. This leaves me very confused as to what the hell is going on with the release of this OS….

Whatever happens I ain't payin $ for it, unless maybe it's $30 like my bro.

  6. @leyke

we have to agree to disagree on that. Everything blizzard has put out has sold VERY well.

  7. I don't see the major improvemnts over Vista. My guess is your average consumer won't really see a difference but since the media tells them it's better they will believe it.

Why buy an OS that is trying to be OSX when you should just go out and get a Mac?

  8. @Shockwave562 I'm not sure performance gains are as important to the average consumer as much as marketing and hype. Windows 7 is getting a lot of positive press and Microsoft is going blow it up.

  9. @Rpad – it's amazing what marketing and hype can do to a product. the average consumer would tell you they hate Vista without stating a good reason but the same person would probably tell you they love Windows 7. Silly

  10. @Shockwave562 Agreed. After the first service pack, Vista worked quite well for me. A lot of its initial problems were overblown and fixed with patches, but it never recovered.

  11. I've been running Vista on the home computer and have never had a problem with it, though the free space/better graphic to memory interface that 7 promises will eventually lead me to upgrade.

@Shockwave – honestly it's about time they went after something that works as well as OSX. 7 is like a love letter to the people that have stuck with them for this long, it's an actual operating system that stays the hell out of your way, rather then the bloated BS that they have been shoveling the last few years.

  12. @Rpad – as an OSX lover do you know what my only real complaint is about Vista? The only reason I prefer to use XP? I just don't like it when it asks me and makes me confirm everything (sometimes with my password) ten times. like when I'm trying to delete something.

to me ease of daily use is the main concern of an OS. that's really why I like OSX.

  13. I run the Windows 7 RC through Boot Camp on my MacBook. I have been a Windows user most of my life so I like to have for games and the such. I am very impressed with it…not as good as Snow Leopard but it's still very solid and defintly a step-up from Vista.

  14. @Shockwave562 You can turn some of that off. It's still annoying though. Right now none of my permission pop-ups ask for my password.

@rbee90 I wouldn't call the new MacBook a netbook. It's way more powerful than a typical netbook.

  15. 30 Dollars for University Students, So you can bet I'll be getting a copy first day.

  16. @Ray

Give us some details on site traffic on Friday. Let us know if it has exceeded, met, or underwhelmed you in terms of volume. How goes the getting new ads? I need ads on sites or else I don't know what to click. Are you able to use this site as proof that you attract readers and are worthy of an ad heavy site lol?

  17. @Smartguy I'll serve that up on Sunday, similar to: https://rpad.tv/2009/10/18/housekeeping-sunday/

Right now I'm waiting on companies to get new ads. I've applied to three and there's one more I'm considering. Hopefully I'll hear back soon.

As for proving things, it's still early for that. Initially, I started this site because N8R suggested it and it was difficult keeping in touch with everyone on TheFeed. I mostly did it because I really missed the interaction, but I also wanted to keep writing. Next week should be pretty exciting — I have some cool, fully original content in the works. Hopefully the articles will blow up through you guys spreading the word, Digg, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

I will leave you with this interesting factoid — almost 20% of the traffic is from Twitter links.

  18. personally i never had any problems with vista until i installed my CPA exam test materials onto it. the screen wouldn't animate and i'd have to listen to the lecture instead of also seeing it and the examples. also once i installed the test materials, my computer would no longer update. MS blamed it on Becker. Becker blamed it on MS.

    i bought a mac.
