It's actually a pretty decent launch list. There's a little bit there for everybody – something I think that the PS3 launch lacked. I think Uncharted: Golden Abyss is the game I'm most interested in, but the FIFA game for the PSV looks pretty impressive too.
Always a Ridge Racer.
The Good:
Uncharted: Golden Abyss – This game is very, very nice from what reviews I've found. Some have even said it was better than the console version, which gives me high hopes.
Escape Plan – This one looks like it'll please with a simply casual puzzle game in mind, and it'll probably cost less than the others (being PSN only).
Gravity Rush – Besides Uncharted, this game has also been well received by those lucky enough to try it. It's too bad it isn't a launch title, because the Vita needs a good RPG. Speaking of which, where's the mandatory Monster Hunter game, huh Sony?
BlazBlue and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 – Both of these titles offer great fighting games in such small packages, yet neither will be available at launch (soon afterwards, hopefully).
Lumines: Electric Symphony – If you haven't heard of Lumines before, let me clue you in; think Tetris, but with a music theme. The other two have been well received in general, and I'm sure this one will be no different.
The Bad:
Reality Fighters – Yes, I know it's really just a tech demo, but come on. It's like that Dojo game (Photo Dojo, maybe?) that shipped with the DSi, but slightly different. This doesn't look like it is worth being its own game; rather, it should be PSN only or packaged with the system.
Silent Hill: Book of Memories – Sorry, I know people will disagree with this one. Then again, I don't mind much. Book of Memories is going to be a top-down shooter with a heavy co-op focus. So, big deal, right? Well, Silent Hill is known for its horror elements, and games are less scary when you are playing with others. It doesn't seem like a good combination, and I betcha it'll show.
The UGLY:
Riiiiiiiiiidge Racer!!! – Yes, I had to say that. Ridge Racer apparently has decent racing gameplay; good controls, nice scenery, etc etc. However, the game will only ship with a few tracks and cars and will cost an entire $10. This by itself would not make it very good, but then they had to do it. They said "We'll add DLC for a grand total of $20 more, but you can't get that DLC all at once". Since they launched the game, it will only get more music from now til February, then it will add a measly 8 cars and 6 tracks between the NA release and April. This game is NOT finished and costs way too much for the content it gives. It gets a rating of Meh out of 10.
That's all.
