Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that the PlayStation Vita portable videogame console will launch on February 22, 2012 in North America. The system is already selling well in Japan and is expected to be one of most popular holiday gifts in that country. With the Nintendo 3DS performing below expectations, Sony has a huge opportunity to do some damage in the handheld space.
Here’s a clip from the press release, followed by a poll and some images. Please share your thoughts on the PSP launch date and your plans for getting or not getting one.

As much as I like Sony products, I don't pre-order anything.
But I do think I'll end up getting this.
I have only pre-ordered one thing in the entire history of video games, and that was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Turns out it was actually pretty good; who knew?
Anyway, I already decided to buy this. I just want to know what games will be out on release (besides Uncharted).
Though it's nice to know it'll be out sooner than March; that's all I was hoping for.
I'd have asked for it as a Xmas gift but I doubt I'll ask for it next year. Prob will skip it entirely now.
Aww, you'll miss all the fun! When both our neighborhoods are evacuated due to bomb threats and we forget our credit cards and can't go pick up a latte, I'll be playing Vita. What'll you be doing?
