Noel Gallagher (Oasis) Blames London Riots on Videogames

Former Oasis lead singer Noel Gallagher knows the cause of the London riots — violent television and videogames. It’s fantastic that geniuses like Gallagher are providing astute analysis of the London riots, while Mensa members like Hulk Hogan are offering solutions. In a recent interview with Bang Showbiz Gallagher said:

We live in this age of violence — and I don’t care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal video games are a reason for this pointless violence as well. The people are immune to violence, they are used to it.

As much as I’ve enjoyed Oasis music in the past, I’ve always thought that Noel Gallagher was a prick. His take on the London riots confirms his dickishness, as well as his idiocy. Also, he looks like Mr. Bean.

    1. It's funny.

Right after the New York blackout, there was the birth of street hip-hop in New York.

Right after the L.A. riots, there was another huge influx of urban music from that area.

What happened? All these broke and starving artists got the equipment they otherwise couldn't afford (a lot like that Sublime song) and were finally able to focus on just getting out to the people.

The moral? Get ready for a massive music boom out of London (probably dance music), I'm calling it now.

  1. My wife actually LOVES Mr. Bean. My sister named her pet beagle Mr. Bean as well.

You know, I remember way back in the day (sometime in the mid-to-late 90's), I was swimming in a pool with my first girlfriend and her friend at some timeshare her parents had at the time. I was underwater and when I came up, my black hair drooped around my head and my girlfriend made the comment; "You look like the lead singer from Oasis." I kind of smiled and nodded and tried to take it as a compliment, but I had no idea who the hell Oasis was back then, let alone what their lead singer looks like. And since this was the time before Google picture search and DSL, I was limited in my means of research. I remember afterwards going around school asking people if the lead singer from Oasis is hot. Unfortunately, I went to an all-male school and I think guys I asked started to get the impression that I was gay and I liked the lead singer from Oasis and I was trying to justify my love for him by getting them to admit it.

    (*sigh*) High school.

… I wonder if she thinks that I look like the picture above now…?

  2. Yes it was convenient how he left out violent music from that mess of a comment. I hate people who get their voices heard like this use it to speak such uninformed opinions.

  3. @ The violent music thing

He could have easily placed violent music in there since Oasis is actually a pretty non-violent band that sings about wonderwalls and champagne supernovas. So his cred would stay intact.

The way I see it, things like playing music, playing games, sports, activities, hobbies, arts, etc. are all things that require time. This is time that people aren't out rioting and looting or just being general assholes. However… all of these activities come with an upkeep fee. Looting (as history has proven) will surely help people with all of these activities. I'm not saying it's right… I'm just saying I can understand.

For example… say the LAPD screws up big yet again and riots broke out in L.A. yet again. Around the same time and after they cool down a bit… Ray ends up with not 1… but 2 of the iMacs he needs and a Macbook… and a new camera… and badass lights… and a 45" 3D HDTV with 6 sets of glasses.

    I'm not saying it's right… but I understand.
