Stephen Colbert Addresses Miles Morales Spider-Man

www.colbertnation.com

After our interesting discussion on Miles Morales, the multiracial Spider-Man in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, it was great watching Stephen Colbert attack the issue with faux indignation. Colbert was his typically hilarious self, but especially funny to comic-book nerds. I was thinking about one of our other discussion when he brought up the fact that Superman is an illegal alien. It’s fantastic stuff, but what else do you expect from Colbert?

Thanks to my bud Parisi for posting this!

  1. I laughed my ass off when he said "In the latest issue of Marvel Comics Ultimate Fallout, Peter Parker is killed… presumably while performing in 'Turn Off the Dark".

    And the gay Batman rib.

  2. "Next thing you know, they'll give us a gay Batman… O.K., gayer Batman."

    So true.

    Worst. Superhero. Movie. Evar.

And this is coming from someone who watched the 1994 Fantastic Four movie.

      1. I'm keeping it in the comic book world iceman. I think alicia is straight and has a kid now.

      2. Yeah, I figured. I was kind of half-joking. Unfortunately, I don't keep up with the Batman official print canon as much as I'd like to. My knowledge of Batman is mostly from the mediums of TV and Movies. From Adam West & Burt Ward to Batman Beyond; The Animated Series, I've seen them all. You'd be hard pressed to find a TV show/series, DVD, or Batman movie that I haven't seen.

I've been meaning to get around to the graphic novels, but I guess I keep putting it off. I'm also more of a Marvel fan-boy (fan-man?) than DC for some inconclusive reason. Lastly, even if I was ready to take the plunge, I wouldn't know where to begin. I've heard lots of great things from lots of great Batman books out there. How do I decide which one to read first? I really wanted to read "Knightfall", but people say that "The Long Halloween" and "The Killing Joke" are much better. Yet another person tells me to only read the Mark Miller Batman books. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare $100 to drop on all of these graphic novels in one fell swoop.

      3. Those are three great Batman stories with three very different styles. The Killing Joke was ahead of its time and is considered one of the most groundbreaking Bat books. The Long Halloween features the killer combo of Loeb/Sale; they're just fantastic together. Knightfall isn't as good as the other two, but I really like Bane. If you read Knightfall then you'll be pissed at the crap version from the movie.
