Kratos Returns to the PSP in God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Get set for more God of War action on your PlayStation Portable with Ghost of Sparta. Being developed by the excellent people at Ready at Dawn Studios, Sony has promised to take portable visuals to new heights with this game. Here’s some more info from the press release along with additional screens:

Set in the realm of Greek mythology, God of War: Ghost of Sparta is a single-player game that allows players to take on the powerful role of Spartan warrior Kratos. This new adventure picks up after God of War concludes, telling the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid himself of the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must embark on a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds, and finally answer long-awaited questions about his dark past. Armed with the deadly chained Blades of Chaos, he will have to overcome armies of mythological monsters, legions of undead soldiers, and amazingly dangerous and brutal landscapes throughout his merciless quest.

The game has been given a vague release date of “later this year in 2010”.

I’m totally psyched for this game. I love Ready at Dawn’s work. The company is one of the best PSP developers out there. Chains of Olympus is a great game that a lot of people I know missed simply because they’re not down with PSP. Any of you psyched for God of War: Ghost of Sparta?

  1. I'll take any chance I can get to get back into the Mythology and story of God of War. I always hoped they would make a movie for it, but after seeing Clash of the Titans I hope they don't.

Dude don't let that movie disappoint you. I haven't watched it yet, i fell asleep doing so but i fall asleep watching tv a lot. If you've watched the old one first and then the new one i'm sure you will be disappointed but you can't be disappointed if there was no GOW movie to begin with. True most video game to movie translations fail but with GOW the plot is almost cut and paste for a writer.

I just don't understand how a remake can be worse than the original. I thought Resident Evil and Street Fighter were pretty clear cut plots too. And both of those turned out well. They casted Guile, Mr. I love America and Rock and Roll so much I have a American Flag Tat and a Sweet Flat-top, as Jean Claude Van Damme a man who could barely speak English.

I think it has a lot to do with the writing or charisma from the actors, like this whole new Nightmare reboot has gotten a lot of mixed reviews but i hear it's like a shot for shot remake. This pisses me off because i might as well just watch the original if i wanted it to be like that but remakes are soooo touchy. Some people will like the changes and some won't. As a comic fans i wish reboots would be done as comic book heroes are when they're rebooted.

  5. I am looking forward to this. Chains of Olympus was one of the first PSP games I got. It looks great and plays very well (even w/o a 2nd joystick). It'll be a day one purchase for me.
