FFXIII Xbox 360 Bundle, Nomura Faceplate on the Way

Square Enix has announced that a special Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 bundle will be available for $399. It will include, “a 250GB Hard Drive engraved with the Final Fantasy XIII name, two Wireless Controllers, exclusive downloadable avatar items and a standard edition copy of Final Fantasy XIII.” The console itself is completely ordinary and not nearly as sexy as the limited edition FFXIII PlayStation 3 available in Japan.

I’m more excited about the limited edition Xbox 360 faceplates designed by Tetsuya Nomura. Square Enix stated that these faceplates will be available in limited numbers. I want one!

I’m guessing most of you have Xbox 360s in working condition. Are you tempted to replace yours with this bundle?

  1. Make it a SSFIV edition, with the game, Madcats Fightstick, and a headset. Then maybe I would buy another one to replace to broken one that MS wants a hundred dollars to fix even though i sent it in like months ago and it broke again. Sorry that was ranting i apologize for that. Thank God I have my PS3 and as a fall back plan there is the SNES/N64/PS2. and then after all of that the Wii.

  2. that chick is hotter than REO Speedwagon was in 1983.

You got to see my "Dragon of The Black Pool" jacket — pic does not do it justice!

  3. Eh I don't have the money to toss around, but that's a decent package. But I'd still only want XIII on the ps3 anyway.

  4. I might actually get this just because i want to upgrade from my 20gb xbox. I'll probably end up selling the FF XIII game on ebay or something. I don't want to change from 1 disc from the PS3 to 3.

On another note, Capt. America comic angers protesters for their depiction in a comic book.

People just like to be angry about something all the time.

You should see about getting a xfer kit first. That way you don't have to keep your profile on a memory card and not switch out HDDs.

  6. @Tokz

No, you can only buy it from MS. You have to call them. Ridiculous. Most of the ones on amazon or ebay aren't the real thing. They are merely a disc or something. Just be careful if you choose to buy it second hand.

  7. @Tokz

You have a PS3 don't you? Why on Earth would you buy the disc swapping version on the Xbox? It's 2010, not 1998.

  8. @RROD

I'm just getting it for the new xbox. I'm going to sell the game. I've already reserved my game.

  9. @smartguy

True. hmmm, i'll have to re-think this. You guys may have saved me from an impulse buy. I was just going to sell my old one for like $100 with the controllers and reasoned that would be like buying it at the elite price, when i eventually transferred the data, of course.

  10. @tokz

If you have no problem with your old machine, you could just buy a new HDD by itself for 100 or so and get the xfer kit from MS. Spend the other money on a nice dinner or something.

  11. @Tokz

If all you want is more HDD space then you could just buy the 120gb HDD but you will have to touch your toes to do so. Even still, buying this bundle just for the big HDD is an equal rip off. You are between a rock and a hard place which is exactly where M$ planned for you to be. Now you have to get ripped off either way just for more HDD space. I paid $90 for a 500gb HDD for my PS3. Last time I checked I had about 283gb of free space left.

  12. @smartguy & rrod

Thanks for talking me off the ledge. I won't buy it i promise! Eventually i need to upgrade my HDD for both xbox360 and PS3. I will just save my money. you know you just get your tax refund and you just want to blow it all away again.

  13. If I was in the market for a new xbox (or FF13) that would be a pretty good deal, 2 controllers, 250GB HDD and the game for only 100 dollars more… sold

  14. @Redtailman – there's a good solution, you could never buy another console again. in fact, why buy anything that could potentially break on you.

  15. @Tokz

I think the best thing to do is to go on ebay or somewhere else to try to find an Xbox HDD for a better price. I don't understand why so many people gladly fall in line with M$'s dirty tactics. Their HDD prices should be illegal.

  16. @Shockwave

Could potentially and knowing full well something WILL break in a short amount of time are two totally different things, and you know it.

  17. @tokz, true that is an option, 250GB HDDs sell for about 80-100 on ebay. not as good of a deal as getting 2 controllers, the hdd, and a game for 100 bucks but if you don't need a new system it's a good option. it will save you 300 bucks

  18. @Shockwave

For $100 extra you get ONE extra controller, 130gb of extra space, and the game. That's not a great deal.

True, nothing last forever but you can dance around it all you want but you know the Xbox failure rate is way above consumer electronics industry standard. I can't think of any other electronics company that was facing a recall and was forced to issue a 3 year warranty.

  19. @RROD – if I went to the store today and bought a controller and game I would leave with $120 + tax, forget about the extra hard drive space

  20. @Shockwave

By the way, the Heavy Rain demo is out. It will give you a reason to dust off your PS3.

  21. I know the xbox failure rate is higher than the ps3 but that was 5 years ago. the xbox 360 is in it's 3rd generation of hardware by now. I have a second gen console and it has been very faithful. I can't speak for the newest Xboxes but you know the failure rate is better than my own elite

  22. @RROD – definitely I plan on downloading it when I get out of here. I'm looking forward to that game big time. Even though X-Play hated on their review. IGN had a wonderful read I thought.

  23. @shockwave the 360 is the only console to ever break down on me and I have owned an nes Genesis n64 ps2 gamecube Xbox ps3 and Wii consoles shouldn't break

  24. @redtail – just giving you a hard time – I had similar issues like smartguy – I will say my original 64 is in very good condition but I went through a lot of PS2s. my xbox software crapped out but that's because I had it modded. still plays games, though I don't use it.

  25. I've never had issues with any other system but the 360. I even had a modded PS1 when i was in Korea and that worked perfectly. I ended up selling that to my friend that stayed in the military. My Ps2 works also but my sister uses that now. My NES/SNES/n64 still going strong!

  26. @RROD

Sure did lol. I went to a friend's house and played the AVP game. I was hooked man. That and tempest 2000. I remember getting some Ninja game that damn near used every button on that controller. Needless to say the whole thing was a bad idea…but if I had that thing still…I might play the AVP game.

I also had a Neo-Geo growing up. I had to have it because there was some gameshow about videogames and the grandprize was always a NeoGeo. I had to have it. Well..I didn't realize the games were so damn expensive and the fact that NOBODY within 100 miles would rent the games really limited my fun with the machine. It kind of just sat there lol.

It was my only present that year.

  27. @Smartguy

I'm jealous. I wanted Neo-Geo but my mommy wouldn't spend that much money on a "pinball machine" as she called it.

  28. @RROD. I guess everything will break one day. my ps3 and Xbox 360 are nearly 4 years old give or take. they won’t last forever I guess. but what does these days.

  29. @Redtailman
You are lucky then man. I had to learn how to solder to fix my Genesis. My Jaguar the same. My Gamecube crapped out a few times. Xbox once and 360 once. PS2 twice. It just happens.
