Coffee Talk #57: What Will Define Console Gaming in 2010?

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the J-E-T-S, if the Washington Wizards should change their name back to the Washington Bullets, or the most incredible reuben sandwich in the world, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

Whether you consider it a fresh start, the beginning of another chapter, or a baby step on the road of life, a new year is always filled with exciting potential. For console gaming, 2010 should be a pivotal year. Developers are starting to master the powerful hardware at their disposal and the hardware companies are set to introduce new twists to their traditional products. Which one do you think will have a bigger impact this year?

It’s easy to say that it will be the games. Titles like Final Fantasy XIII, Heavy Rain, and God of War III should offer polished experiences that truly harness the processing power available this generation. The counter-argument is that Uncharted has already set the bar and nobody else will touch it. Even if that’s the case, there will surely be more quality games than ever in 2010.

Microsoft and Sony are set to emphasize motion controls this year. Hoping to duplicate some of the ridiculous success of the Nintendo Wii and sell consoles to mainstream gamers, both companies will go large with the motion of the ocean. The mainstream press seems particularly enamored with these kinds of controllers; I was (perhaps naively) surprised by how many mainstream outlets reported on Microsoft and Sony going all Wii at E3 2009. I won’t be surprised when the buzz is even bigger in 2010.

What do you think will definite the year in console gaming? Will it be the number of quality games? Motion controllers for all systems? Or something else entirely? I’d love to read your views on consoles in 2010, so leave a comment when you have a moment (please).

  1. To me Nintendo came in and revolutionized and killed motion controls in one fell swoop. I can't be very excited about what Sony and Microsoft are trying do until I see them do something that is completely different.

As for games. There is almost too much that is slated to come out this year. Many games that were set to release last year got pushed into this year (but I am glad now because I hardly had enough funds to pick up all the others at once). My most anticipated game is God of War 3 currently.

Sony is going to have an excellent year. I hope Naughty Dog's achievement will quiet all of the development companies saying it is too difficult to program and get good frame rates and graphics from the PS3.

I think Microsoft will have a big sales year when they release Natal and their new console that has it built in this year (if it comes out this year).

Nintendo will still just be Nintendo and keep raking in piles of cash.

  2. I truly hope that MS and Sony (pardon the language here) don't have the kind of dipshit investors and management that companies like ATT and Charter communications have. To invest heavily in the casual market for a quick return would be a major blow to the base who buys their product currently. It's sad, but I'm sure a good amount of investors and management listen to terrible analysts like Craig Moffett who think the consumer is there to be gouged. If you aren't familiar with him here's some back info: He thinks uncapped broadband and 5 gig caps are too beneficial for the consumer. He thinks an initial flat rate for access AND THEN charging the end user per the byte is best for investors. He stands by that crap.

Pray that Sony and MS don't have idiots like him making decisions going forward.

Biggest splash this year: OnLive service. It will push the leasing of games.

    @Ray

I posted a video of the OnLive service on this blog last week. It showed the service in action as well as talked about the pricing model.

  3. @Smartguy – Craig stands by that because as a consumer you are more of a number then a person, and numbers are meant to be manipulated. An big ticket investor will believe anything that leads to a bigger bottom line, and when they see their numbers compared to the Wii numbers, they have a hard time thinking past the bowl of drool they are collecting. Investing today is more of a knee jerk reaction then an actual art… you see something take off and then scramble to put your fingers into as many things that match that as possible, hoping for a return. It's like Investing through the KINO method lol.

  4. gran turismo, final fantasy and god of war

microsoft has some good games coming down the pipe, particularly that splinter cell…

the ever reliable vgchartz has sony only 5.56 million back of the 360, i think theyll cut that in half, at least this year….

quote me on that this time ;)

  5. @2010 – Can't wait to see what the rest of the year is going to bring. The first part looks incredibly exciting already. Picking up Darksiders tomorrow, ME2 and the end of the month, and then the next big one is FFXIII followed by GOW3.

Guilty Thoughts – I would love to see Dante's Inferno do respectable numbers… and then get completely blown out one of Hell's Leaky nipples by Kratos.

  6. @ray

im going to bed now, but just wanted to let you know that i enjoyed the eddie izzard "dressed to kill" special.

im thinking of changing my psn name to "slut benwalla"

  7. unfortunately, I think motion controls will be what 2010 is remembered for, especially towards the end of the year. To me, it's going to be the games, we've got a lot of sequels and new IPs coming out on both consoles that I am particularly excited for. None more so than Mass Effect 2 this month.

  8. @motion controls made my sony and microsoft – i can't give two shits about it no matter how hard i try lol. sure we have a wii at home, and it was a novel idea at first but now it's a dust collector. and i really don't see myself buying a wand for my ps3. b/c truly i'd be shocked as hell if they produce any quality games at all for the use of motion control. hell, i'm livid enough that the ps3 gets shafted b/c developers are too whiny to learn it's mechanics properly but that's another rant in itself and i'm prone to tangents.

@gaming this year – all the games i've got on my list of must buys, in my mind i'm hoping, will cross defining line in incredible gaming. i'm hoping dante's inferno can live up to and passed the god of war standard. i'm hoping heavy rain's story and graphics blow my mind. and i'm especially hoping that when final fantasy xiv online is released at the end of the year that it defines a better console mmorpg then it's predecessor. that's the one game i've got my eye on the most.

  9. @motion – I think I've become ok with motion controls as a tangent market. clearly Nintendo has picked up a lot more kids, women, adults, and even elderly with its unique design.

It is unreasonable to expect Sony or MS to just ignore that demographic of untouched gamers. However, if the core gamers are shafted by either console in favor of this new demographic than I will probably leave one of those consoles behind as I've left Nintendo behind (this is the first generation I didn't buy all available home consoles.)

I don't want gaming to change forever in this way because of extra dollars on the bottom line. However, I firmly believe that there will always be a market for core gamers across all platforms. Even Nintendo throws core gamers a bone every now and then.

  10. I think this year will be the year where the PS3 takes over. I've had a lot of people ask me recently which console to get and i just come to one answer the PS3. It has a lot to offer for a current game library and a lot of their stuff is free. My friends are cheap and if they have to pay to get online and play; they won't get it.

As far as motion control gaming, i don't see MS or Sony doing much with these type of games right away. Maybe until next X-mas season, where more party/family games seem to be sold more.

@ R-pad what do you think about the possible start of a wrestling Monday Night war showdown today with Bret Hart hosting Raw and Hulk Hogan's debut on TNA.

  11. One more thought, The wii can be a gateway drug in a sense. My younger sister never played video games at all, hated them in fact. That is until she got a wii from her boyfriend. Now she's graduated on to titles like Halo, COD, Lego games, and more.

  12. I just think the motion controls don't translate well into the regular core game type or anything besides a party game. I got MadWorld for Christmas. Neat idea, but fails because of scarcity of save features and the damn motion controls.

    Motion = fail.

  13. @Motion Controls

I don't mind motion controls as long as they work well. I loved playing Wii Punch-Out, but the fact that you don't really have to punch makes the premise kind of ridiculous. When I would punch sometimes it would register at all so I would just end up shaking the controller.

  14. @Slicky – the boxing game is one of my favorites on wii sports – I had a pro score of like 1500 or something like that

  15. There's just a plethora of great games coming out this year on both the 360 and the PS3. And there are still other unannounced games that I fully expect will be added to the list for this year. So while I think a lot of people think this will be the "Year of the PS3," I think this will be a great year for gamers overall.

  16. @Nightshade – completely agree. If this year plays out even half as well as last year, I think we'll all be in good shape by the end of it.

  17. I will definitely agree that fans/owners of both the PS3 and the 360 have a lot to be excited about

  18. I think 2010 will be the year of the exclusives. There's not a lot of multi plats looking to great this year. Sony's exclusives are looking outstanding once again and the Xbox has some good games too. Splinter Cell is looking great and I'm 100% sure it will end up on the PS3 like the other ones so I can wait. There is one game that I want to play but won't be able to and that's Alan Wake. That game has my attention. I'm really looking forward to Heavy Rain, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, and The Last Gaurdian. Dead Space 2 is the only multi plat that I'm really looking forward too. As for motion controls, I think both Sony and M$ will fail at that.

  19. I had completely forgot about Alan Wake.

I have no interest in The Last Guardian oddly enough. I didn't like Ico, but I did like SotC. I bought both for less than $20.

I'm willing to bet that GT5 won't come out before the Christmas season.

COME ON BLIZZARD, RELEASE THE GAMES!

  20. @RROD;

I agree with you on the motion controllers. I think developers had a chance to show what motion controls could do with the Wii and instead of inspiring new ways to play interesting and original games, we got 95% Shovelware. I don't think that Sony or MS's motion controllers will be any different. Motion controls seem like a first-party toy.

    -M

  21. @Iceman

    First off, nice logo

Second…I think MS will try and force Natal down your throat with titles like Fable 3 and perhaps the next Gears installment.

  22. I don't know if making Netal mandatory is the way to go. I have a feeling they'll make it optional for any AAA titles that may use it.

If the same development cycle holds, I'd expect Gears 3 this fall. Here's hoping….

  23. @Iceman

I think that the casuals and hardcore gamers who bought the Wii have learned that it's just a fad and was a novel idea at first but the fun quickly dies and I don't think these people will fall for the hype of more motions controls from Sony and M$. I too have a Wii in my son's room that hasn't been used in months. In the words of the Who, "We won't get fooled again".

  24. I agree with nightshade – Mandatory Natal would piss on their core demographic. I'm happy to try Natal but I don't think I'll buy any games that force me to use it. And that would include Fable, Halo, or Gears

  25. @nightshade

I am looking at it from the point of the illogical suit perspective. If you make it mandatory for something like Fable 3, which is expected to sell very well, then you can tout installed Natal units to developers in order to get ports or their very own versions of cra..i mean shovel..i mean games. Also if you make it mandatory then you will profit very heavily from the overpriced periphereal. (read this paragraph solely as me playing devil's advocate)

I think Natal will make the Arcade section of Live chock full of garbage. The best stuff will probably be in the Indie section.

  26. Also, do you really think the soccer moms and grand parents who already bought a Wii will also buy an Xbox and Natal or a PS3 and the sphere too? I don't think so.

  27. @Smartguy: I believe Peter Molyneux has said all future Lionhead games would "support" Project Natal. That's the key word for me. "Support" doesn't necessarily mean the same as "require."

  28. @Nightshade

Don't put it past M$ to make Natal mandatory. Think about it, what if M$ made Natal mandatory for Halo Reach? 10 million Halo fans will be forced to buy Natal and they will. Ka-ching.

  29. @RROD – as I said before I would bail on any game that required natal for use. I'll probably buy Natal and try it out on a couple of games to make my own decisions but I refuse to buy games that require it. I'm sure I'm not the only one. If MS wants Halo Reach to be the worst selling Halo yet then by all means they are welcome to force Natal on it

  30. @Nightshade

Molyneux is eccentric and Support could mean heavily incorporated when it comes to him.

I haven't decided yet…but either Fable 3 or a new Perfect Dark (or some unannounced Rare game) will indeed require Natal. I see it being Fable 3 since it is marketed and lauded as a casual / easy RPG. It fits, it really does. Especially when I think about the gestures your character needs to make.

MS making a flagship use it will generate a lot of sales for the add-on.

I hope you are right and I am wrong.

  31. @RRoD: MS doesn't have a history of making mandatory peripherals for their gaming console. By comparison, Nintendo makes a habit of it.

That being said, all the quotes coming out of MS sound positive towards gamer choice, and it's mostly fanboy fear-mongering that makes it sound like Natal and the Sony sexual glow-stick thingy (Do they have an official name for it yet?) will be the end of civilization as we know it.

  32. @Nightshade

You should know by now not to believe a word that comes out of Peter M's mouth.

  33. @Shockwave

I hear you but most Halo fans would buy Natal to play Halo Reach if it was mandatory.

  34. @Nightshade

Honestly, if you think the Wii is mostly shovelware then what kind of games do you think can be produced with no buttons or controllers at all? Honestly.

  35. I know a lot of people who aren't "gamers" that love their wiis. I don't see what's so bad about giving those people a free market to choose their console as well. Just because they aren't core gamers like us doesn't mean they don't deserve good games on good consoles. I don't see why a soccer mom wouldn't buy in to the PS3 Sphere or Natal, after all, they probably already have one of those systems in their home.

To say that the PS3 and Natal motion controls won't sell well is wishful thinking. It is ill-founded though, if the wii was a fad it would have passed on a year or 2 ago. it continues to be the best selling console every month and there's a good reason for it. mark my words, it won't be us that makes it happen but motion controls across all consoles will be huge. and next gen every system will have it in some way

  36. @Fable 3

Molyneux is also loyal to his core gamers. He tries to meet his expectations the first time around and usually gets it the second time around. I don't peg him as the type to shaft is fans in favor of a peripheral. He obviously likes Natal, but I don't see him devoting to it with his first Natal enabled game. Plus, what can you expect Natal to do in that game other than emotes? (which are big in the game, but still doable with out Natal.) Fable 4 seems more like the game with his one game behind thing going on.

  37. @Shockwave

When I say the Sony and M$ motion controls will fail I mean it won't do what they want and that's the Wii numbers. Of course it will sell some but nowhere near Wii levels. Also, I can't see most of the casuals buying a PS3 or Xbox AND the motion controller when the Wii is all-in-one for $199.

  38. @RRoD: I've consistently said that I hope both company's motion controls are optional. If the games turn out as crappy as the stuff coming out for the Wii, I won't support it.

But I do see the potential of Natal and Sony's whatchamacallit that I don't see in the Wii because of the advanced hardware of those two systems vs the the Wii. There are a lot of great developers who've never touched the Wii and aren't to blame for the shovelware that permeates that console's game catalog. Yo don't think Bioware or Naughty Dog couldn't do something spectacular with new tools to play with?

I'd be a fool not to let them try and prove it to me before I make up my mind in advance that it will be a failure.

  39. @nightshade

Lol at fear mongering. I hear ya. I think that the Wii has set a bad precedent when it comes to cheap hardware, cheap games, and a stupid market who will buy a party game at Walgreens while checking out.

Honestly, what's stopping MS or Sony from just keeping what they have or releasing a "new" console with the same hardware and adding built in motion? Bottomline looks good for the short sellers.

I really wish one of these game companies was privately held. It would make such a difference.

  40. @RROD – I don't know, I mean, I don't own a wii due to its hardware limitations mostly. I like the idea of the power of the PS3 with the option of wii motion, sure I don't play motion games every week but occasionaly they are a lot of fun. Especially if you're having friends over. why is it that a more versatile 360 and PS3 will automatically fail?

  41. @Nightshade

Sure, I think Naughty Dog and Bioware could do something special with motion controls but not without ANY buttons.

  42. @Change of Pace – Has anyone tried out the MAG Beta? Any good, worth giving a shot?

  43. I don't like pointing a wand at a sensor bar or at a tv. That gets uncomfortable after a few minutes. I prefer to relax in my chair or on my couch and enjoy myself.

  44. @Shockwave

I just have to see it to believe it. As of right now, I believe they both will fail. I don't care for motion controls and have no desire to buy the Sony motion controller.

  45. @larcenous

According to Taarec, the Beta is good. You can't run and gun like Halo, but you can be a bit more action oriented than CoD.

A friend of mine had a beta code but could never log in. Who knows.

  46. @LarcenousLaugh

From what I've read in the forums, if you like the old Socom games then you'll like MAG. If you think COD is the standard then you will not like MAG.

  47. @RROD – I think that's why all consoles will go with a mix of both buttons and motion controls. I would also hope that the PS3 and 360 both have a shut off button since I'm not always ready to dance around my living room. It's to be expected that some games will have motion only. I personally like that MS is trying something a little different than the other 2 but who knows how it will play out.

  48. @Shockwave

We've been through this before. Natal is advertised as "controller free" and "YOU are the controller". How can that be true if you need a controller? I hate that. I hate playing a game on my PS3 and all of a sudden I have to use sixaxis controls. Who wants to play Halo and all of a sudden you have an opportunity to wave your arms and legs in front of the tv for a few minutes in some mini-game scenario?

  49. If either's is anything like the six-axis controls, I balk. 'Nuff said.

@RRoD: I'm willing to give it a shot either way. If it sucks, I'll be the first to say it. But I'm not gonna dismiss it out of hand.

  50. @thundercracker I fully support your decision to change your PSN handle. "Jeff God of Biscuits" and "Simon God of Hairdos" also work.

@tokz_21 It's certainly creating a lot of buzz, which is great for the business as a whole. Ultimately, it's just one night. TNA has to change SO many things to be competitive with WWE. A humbled Bischoff is a great asset for the company. I'm not sure about Hogan.

  51. Anyone else getting a real slow turnaround time from Gamefly lately? It always seems like they're never prepared for holidays or summer breaks….

  52. @Nightshade

What is the turnaround now and what is it normally? I don't use them so I'm curious how it compares to Netflix.

  53. Normally, it's next day or so after they receive something. I've been waiting since 12/24 for them to send me something, and this isn't the first time lately. I realize there were two holidays in there, but this has been going on for over a month now.

  54. It should also be noted I had Darksiders go from "coming 1/04/10" to "Low Availability" despite it being on my list for over a month this morning, after I'd already been waiting a week for them to send me something. So I'm a little cranky right now.

  55. @Mr. Padilla;

You should have heard the Bubba the Love Sponge morning show today. Bubba and Terry are good friends, and you should hear what they say about pro wrestling and what Hulk's impact on TNA is going to be.

    -M

  56. @RROD – I know you and I disagree with how Natal will be used but I personally don't want to play any games that are strictly motion and no controls.

  57. @Nightshade – I just finished paying for Darksiders this weekend. Super excited for that one. Between that and Moxie's Underdome coming out for Borderlands this week, I have a wonderfully full plate.

  58. Bad move for TNA to broadcast at the same time as RAW. TNA is nowhere near ready to compete with the WWE. If they're going to make me chose then I choose RAW. I don't see how Hogan will be a draw. He can only do a clothesline and a leg drop.

  59. side note, I finished MW2 this weekend, I felt like the game didn't end at all. I haven't been this disappointed with a cliffhanger since Halo 2. The game went from unbelievable to downright ridiculous so I guess in many ways I don't really care what happens. I'm just left with the feeling that I got a half finished story. If they plan to expand on the story with episodic content I'll be very disappointed with activision.

good thing it was a christmas gift.

  60. @shockwave

You guessed correctly with the episodic bit. Remember, they never resolved the Makarov side of the story.

I disagree..the story in this one wasn't as good as the first MW, but the story is still plausible (discussed at length the other day). You just have to read between the lines.

  61. @Larcenous

I can't wait to buy that game tomorrow. I really should play Borderlands and L4D2 since I got them for xmas…but I have been waiting on Darksiders for 2 years.

  62. @smartguy – that may be the case but $60 for half a story and 5 hours is where I draw the line. I refuse to pay for episodic content when I expected a whole game the first time around. that's of course my humble opinion

  63. @Larcenous: I'll be getting a review copy from Vigil anyway, but if I got it from Gamefly quicker I could have gotten started sooner. Definitely looking forward to it.

@Shockwave & Smartguy: I'm probably sending MW2 back to them today. I haven't put it back into my 360 since finishing the single player campaign. I'm just not that interested in it. I know I talked with some friends about playing some Spec Ops, but I literally blew through a 2nd playthrough of Arkham Asylum (and now that I've played Uncharted 2, I can honestly say B:AA is my GotY) over the weekend rather than play the copy of MW2 I've had sitting here. I just feel like with Activision plowing these games out every year, the CoD franchise has gotten pretty stale for me. A series needs air to breathe, lest it gets old quickly.

And maybe I need to have no games out from Gamefly to finally get something….

  64. @Rpad:

I heard that Spike is going to be giving TNA, one Monday slot a month. I don't see how Hogan on his own will turn TNA around but I just heard the signed Scott Hall too and didn't you mention that Ric Flair was going to sign with them as well. I really don't want to see these old guys go at it but if I have to give them some ratings so the WWE can get some wrestlers or story lines that interest me, then i have no choice.

It is interesting to see if the WWE considers really extending a final hurrah to Bret Hart, as it has been rumored, especially if it does involve a rematch of HBK and Bret Hart.

@RROD I heard that Hogan can't even do the leg drop because of the hip surgeries he's had. So, you may not even get that.

  65. I don't know about not playing any more CoD games, but I may skip the Treyarch ones to try and keep the series from being completely stale when the "better" ones come out.

  66. I think MW2 is the last thing from Activision I buy period…..excluding Blizzard content though.

    Damn.

  67. @Nightshade386

I do that and MW2 still doesn't satisfy me. Course, when you set up a twitter suggestion system and ignore all feed back given through it, what do you expect? The only thing that made into the game was Bling…

  68. @Smartguy: Thus the reason I rent a lot of stuff, and I rarely buy Activision games anymore. Last one I bought was Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and in retrospect I wish I hadn't. In fact, I just went through my cabinet and that was the only Activision game I own from this console generation that I bought new.

  69. @Nightshade

I have both the MW games. MW2 is the first one I have played online. It will be the last. There are too many issues and problems with the online for the game. The only reason I play it now is because my friends spam me with invites. I really dislike the game.

    Can't wait for BC2.

  70. @Smartguy: CoD4's online was really broken too, partly because of the glitchers, but there's something else I think. The Perk system, which so many people seem to love, really turns off the new user in my opinion. You've gotta put too many hours into the game to be even somewhat close to on the same level as the people who play it a lot, thus you're always at a disadvantage. I have the same general issues with MMO's, and I often describe CoD4's multiplayer to friends as "the Shooter MMO without a story."

  71. @Nightshade

The matchmaking system is garbage. It takes entirely too long to find a game in my opinion. I have sat in a lobby by myself on team deathmatch express for 10 minutes. My connection isn't the problem either. I'm running a 20mbps connection with <70ms ping.

The akimbo 1887 shotguns and heartbeat sensors are horrible additions to the multiplayer. Some of the attachments to weapons is also very absurd. The Ninja perk glitches every other game or during a game and you show up on a sensor; the same goes for Cold Blooded.

My biggest peeve though…the fact they hide a lot of lag and game engine issues in the animation. Battlefield is guilty of it as well, but not to the extreme degree I have noticed in MW2.

    –end rant.

  72. I think buying COD games with single player in mind is a big mistake. You'll only get an average at best story mode that's only 4 hours long. COD is for multi player and multi player only. That's where it's good.

  73. @Smartguy

MW2 is very laggy at times. Activision knows that everyone will buy COD regardless so they know they don't have to have a beta that would have fixed most of these issues. I hate the heart beat sensor, it forces you to use ninja.

  74. @Smartguy

The Ninja and Coldblooded glitch isn't a beneficial glitch. You see yourself in the kill cams on their radar or heartbeat sensor, but they don't actually see you. It is a kill cam glitch. At least that is what IW says it is.

  75. @Sandrock

Yeah, I think the killcam is the glitch most of the time..however there are those killcams where I watch…the thing beeps and they wait for me…and I was the only person in the area.

If you get in the beta let me know how the building destruction is. What you think of the lag that is accounted for in the shooting and if possible, some of the little nuances like movement, etc. I'm envious if you get in lol.

  76. Damn, you guys make me glad that I got MW2 as a gift and did not buy it outright. Since I am not online, my only enjoyment for the time being is the single-player campaign story.

Maybe I should exchange it for Dragon Age or something (*looks at Mr. Padilla*).

    -M

  77. @Iceman: I think Shockwave's overstating how bad the story in MW2 is. But it is short. If you're looking for a truly story based game, Dragon Age would be the one to get. Although, If you haven't played Batman: Arkham Asylum or Assassin's Creed II yet, you can't go wrong with either of those games.

  78. @Smartguy

I wouldn't be surprised if they were hacking the game. They've already had to patch two hacks already and MW1 one still has lots of them.

I'm somewhat what jealous of PS3 owners for already playing the Bad Co. 2 beta.

  79. @sandrock

I thought one of the fixes was supposed to prevent people from getting on top of the building in highrise…i still see guys up there.

  80. @Smartguy

No that isn't a glitch. Any ware you spot a teddy bear, seems to be a spot IW put there on purpose. That spot has like 10 teddy bears up there and is railed off so that you can't go any where up there.

  81. @Smartguy – I agree, I don’t think Core and Motion will ever mix well. At least, I haven’t seen yet how it can. Doesn’t mean I’m not curious what Sony and MS have up their sleeves.

Motion and Core may never mix but I think they can co-exist

  82. Holy Crap. I completely say Larcenous’ post and didn’t get it the first 50 times I read it. I just got it when I reread Shockwave’s post. Man I am slow today. HAHA

  83. @sandrock

We are talking about the same part right? Where you have to jump onto the dangling basket and climb it like a ladder and then walk along the edge across the breadth of the map and then jump into the other dangling basket and finally up onto the roof. That one? I thought that was a glitch.

  84. @Mr. Padilla;

I have no idea. I just started listening to the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show because it recently started airing in the morning on my local rock station in Miami a few months ago. The show is pretty entertaining sometimes and the guy has a SERIOUS fanatical interest in wrestling and the wrestling industry in addition to being Hogan's good friend. Much more than my passive, casual interest in the sport. In fact, I think he's a great promoter because of all his "behind-the-scenes" talk has actually gotten me more interested in wrestling. I actually want to watch TNA and RAW/Smackdown now because I want to understand what the guy is ranting about on a weekly (if not, daily) basis.

  85. @Smartguy

No it is a legit area. They were very careful with how they set up ledges this time around. The only map glitches in MW2 are the elevator glitches and the painkiller glitches. Elevator glitches let you get elevated above the map and painkiller glitches involve walking out of a radiated map using painkiller. (I think they fixed all of the elevator glitches though.

  86. LOL I didn't notice that I had forgotten to change my name back until I got home. Watch me post something tomorrow at work and forget to change it back.

  87. Ha, ha! Now we know your secret identity, Ricky Bobby! Your veil of secrecy and anonymity has been pierced. You have been exposed for all to see.

    -Mike

    D'oh!

  88. sandrock needs to change his name to el diablo

which im told is spanish for one of those "fightin spanish chickens"

  89. @Iceman – Bubba has been up in Jacksonville for a while, but I still don't consider him or Lex and Terry anywhere near the Paul and Ron show. If there was one thing I missed from my hour long morning commutes to FIU through traffic it's those clowns.

  90. @R-Pad

You would think the guards would step aside after the first time I left a bloody trail through the Arl of Denerim's Estate… Can't say I'm disappointed though.

  91. @R-Pad

I'm going to have to wait on the DLC as as soon as I complete my first play through of Dragon Age, I'm going to have to replay Mass Effect one more time before 2 come out.
