What Are You Playing This Weekend?

I know this might come as a shock to you, but I’m going to be playing Dragon Age: Origins most of the weekend. I finally beat the game on Thursday morning. Now it’s time for my next run! My first character was a male Dalish elf rogue that was 99 percent good. This time I’m going with a female human warrior (and yes, it’s mostly so I can engage in a lesbian romance with Leliana). While I’m still going to lean on the good side, I’m going to be snarky whenever I can.

Dragon Age Origins 3

While the game certainly has its flaws, it’s also everything I love about BioWare. I love the combat, the music, and the storytelling. The dialogue is just frickin’ brilliant. The interaction between your different party members is so well done. There are times when it’s hard for me to choose my companions. Do I go with the most effective characters? Or do I go with a mix of people that will have hilarious conversations on the road?

While I should play Borderlands and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with my friends, I know I’m going to flake out of the proposed online sessions because of DA. Sorry Christian. Sorry Ted. Ha!

Anyway, what are you guys and dolls going to play this weekend?

  1. Dragon Age, all weekend long. now that I'm finished with Indigo Prophecy and Uncharted 2 I can devote all my time to it.

    I think I'll head back to Uncharted 2 in a month or 2 to grab the treasures I still need

  2. MW2 all week end long. There are many problems with the game I see so far, but until I hit level 70 and complete the campaign I can't make a accurate judgment on this game.

  3. Still trying to get through (read: doing every single quest) in Elder Scrolls IV; Oblivion GOTY edition. Man, that game is long!

    I have Fallout 3 waiting in the queue after that, but in all honesty, I don't think I can do another EPIC RPG after Oblivion. I think I may need a break with some itchy-trigger FPS or at least a fast-paced (and hopefully short) action game.

    Oh, and by the way, my wife was asking me to find a good local co-op game since we played RE5 together and she liked it a lot. Sure, it was mediocre, but since the game featured shooting without moving (and vice versa), she was able to (at least) keep up with me in the game, since she sucks at moving and shooting at the same time. Any suggestions?

  4. @Iceman – My girlfriend and I were really excited to play Uncharted 2 co-op after she finished the game but I was really pissed off to learn that there's no local co-op. I hate it when game companies do that.

  5. MW2, Uncharted 2, and maybe some Tekken 6 and Madden 10.

    @Shockwave

    Get over it. The good devs will not sacrifice the quality of their game just for you to play split screen. Uncharted 2's quality is way too high to support split screen.

  6. quality please… I know how it works. but it's nice to see a spin from your angle. truth of the matter is 2 PS3s sold and 2 games sold is better than one for Sony and ND.

    I won't give any free passes for that. especially with a game that offers co-op

  7. @Shockwave

    That's just the way it is now. You won't find too many games that offer split screen co-op.

  8. @RROD – ya, still it sucks though. some games still do the split screen co-op though so not everyone has sold out yet

  9. I am not going to put what I am playing this weekend, as whatever I have seemed to call the last few weeks I have not really played. So I will leave this weekend to the gods of gaming, and just ask that whatever they let me play, I have fun with it.

  10. @Iceman

    If you haven't played Prototype then you should grab that game. Good action game. Fast paced and over the top.

    @topic

    I'm actually planning on heading to Gamestop to see if I can find a used copy of Blood on the Sand. The idea of the game is so stupid and the action so over the top…I think I might actually like it. Ochocinco makes me laugh, why can't 50?

  11. @Iceman

    Nope. Just a good fun single player game. I threw a suggestion in there for your mindless action game you mentioned you might be in the mood for.

    If your wife likes co-op try the Lego games. Unlimited lives, funny, and fun.

  12. @ Smartguy: You know, I didn't care for Prototype at all. I thought the controls were very loose and poorly mapped. The button mashing mini game to enter vehicles was a disaster, especially since you died half the time from enemy fire while trying to do it. I got so disgusted that I couldn't finish the thing.
