Raymond’s Random Rants

Post image of Raymond’s Random Rants

- I watched my Star Trek Blu-ray last night. It’s such a great movie. Unfortunately, I missed it when it was still showing in theaters and only saw it in September on my way to Tokyo. I guess it doesn’t matter though, since I enjoyed the characterization and dialogue more than the special effects. It’s definitely one of my favorite movies of 2009, but I have to wonder how it plays to younger people that haven’t seen the old shows and movies.

Dolph Ziggler

- It’s such an interesting time in the WWE right now. Established headliners like Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and Triple H only have a few years left. This leaves the younger main-event players like Edge and Randy Orton waiting for some new dance partners. The WWE has been pushing The Miz, John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler, and Kofi Kingston successfully. Seamus and Drew McIntyre have been getting decent pushes as well. I’m especially high on Ziggler and Morrison. Do any of these guys stand out to you? Do you see any of them headlining WrestleMania in 2015?

- According to ESPN’s Keith Law, Nick Johnson is the 13th best free agent in Major League Baseball. Really?!? The market must really suck this year.

- The last episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm totally cracked me up. I loved the “It’s not an eye for a lesser eye!” conversation. I can’t wait for the season finale. On another HBO note, is Entourage over?

- As much as I can’t wait for Manny Pacquiao to face off against Floyd Mayweather, Jr., part of me doesn’t want the fight to happen. I don’t see how Pacquiao can win. A Floyd victory would just add to the man’s insufferable ego. He’s a brilliant talent, but he’s also a piece of sh*t. Plus, he can’t touch Manny’s karaoke skills.

Still haven’t seen Star Trek. Definitely want to though. Might have to make a BBV run this weekend.

Oh, and I hate the Miz. And not in that, “Wow, he’s such a great heel” way. It’s in that, “I hope he gets hit by a train” way.

Here’s another random rant for you: Nothing quite like waking up at 3:00am to the sound of your toddler retching in your bed. Mind you, I have no idea what time he climbed into bed with us. I obviously slept through that part of the evening’s festivities. But I did spend a good half an hour cleaning up puke. YAY!!!

Mayweather vs Pacquiao must happen. The sport is dying in the US. Something like that could revive it. What I’d really like to see is the heavyweight division become what it was with a few bruisers who are from the US. I love boxing, I really do….but it is waning.

Star Trek was awesome. He did it right.

WWE: Maybe I’m just set in my ways….but nothing they do will ever eclipse or rival the Attitude Era. It was just plain brilliant and the right people were there at the right time.

I actually caught the WWE match with Big Show, Jericho, Undertaker and Kane the other night. It has been about 7 years or so since watching on a reg. basis, Big Show has gotten really fat looking.

I really used to love Undertaker and Kane, but one seems too old to be doing this anymore and the other lost what made him so great…I thought his face was so horribly disfigured he couldnt ever remove his mask…

Oh well, it was still an alright match I guess.

@Smartguy I don’t think any one fight is enough to revive boxing. The sport has way too many problems — too reliant to cable and PPV, corrupt/inept judges, promoters, sanctioning bodies, etc.

@rbee90 There was a time earlier this decade when San Francisco game writers and PR people went to karaoke every week. It was magical.

@Hrolf ‘Taker can still put on a great watch every now and then. His WrestleMania match with HBK was phenomenal. Kane is still useful to have around. He’s one of the best big men in WWE and the younger talent learns a lot from him.

The Miz is missing a few ingredients and just don’t have what it takes to headline and never will. I’m digging Seamus and Drew McIntyre though.

@ The Miz

I’ve always been more of a fan of the heels. That said, I like what the Miz is doing now. BUT… I think he’s pushing it too far too soon. I don’t think he’s capable of extending his character further.

He has nowhere to go but down.

And I have been seeing Seamus a lot more lately, I was curious about that. I’ll really hate seeing Triple H and HBK retire. But HBK prolly should have done it last year (or was it this year) when he had those few blows to his eye and was out. *shrugs*

I never really enjoyed Entourage. The whole concept of a show based on a group of leeches attached to their one successful friend/family just never really struck me as entertaining. The only saving grace was Jeremy Piven, and honestly that’s just cause I loved him so much in PCU that I can always look at him and think back to that.

@larcenous

he was doing great before the last 3 weeks….5 catches 78 yards this week was decent, but the dude i was playing has TO, so im like 70 points behind

although ive got chris johnson and matt shaub tonight, so its possibly theoretically, i guess

Colston will be more involved going forward. Without Moore on the field Colston is double covered. Meachem has to be game planned for now. Pats can’t cover all of them.
