Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has taken the world by storm, so it was only a matter of time before the Korean sensation hit the gaming world. Here are two videos of two different games using “Gangnam Style.” First up is GameSamba’s Remnant Knights, followed by Fishing Cactus’ Creatures 4. Check out the videos, let me know what you think of them, and let me know which clip used “Gangnam Style” most effectively. Continue reading “Gangnam Style Invades Gaming”

Watch Axl Rose Butcher “Welcome to the Jungle”
Check out this live performance of Guns N’ Roses performing “Welcome to the Jungle” at a show last week at Bridge School…and prepare to weep. Axl Rose was completely awful. From greeting the crowd with a “Yee ha!” to his horrendous voice to his heart-attack mimicking mannerisms, everything about this live torture session performance was pathetic.
I remember the first time I saw the video for this Apetite for Destruction classic. I was amazed that something that raw and hard and heavy was on MTV. Axl’s now-wretched voice paired with an acoustic guitar have almost ruined the song for me. It’s so, so bad.
Slash was right to leave this bum.

Brian May Talks Sacha Baron Cohen, Queen Movie
Remember that Queen movie starring Sacha Baron Cohen I wrote about way back in September 2010? Apparently it’s on track for a 2014 release. Here’s what legendary Queen guitarist Brian May told Fact:
Filming is now scheduled to start in the Spring, with Sacha Baron Cohen playing Freddie. The film should be ready for release early in 2014.
Being in Queen is — bizarrely — as full of surprising twists and turns as ever — 40 years since we first got together, and 20 years after losing Freddie. But of course Freddie is in so many ways very much alive. He must be wryly smiling somewhere.
As a big Sacha Baron Cohen fan and an even bigger Queen fan, I can’t wait for this movie. For my money, Freddie Mercury is the greatest frontman that ever lived. His amazing voice and powerful stage presence were just…wow. I’ve never seen anyone better. I still get chills watching him work the crowd during Live Aid. Watch the performance below and witness Freddie’s glory.
Anyone else amped to watch Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury in the Queen movie?

“Enter Sandman” By Metallica — The Smooth Jazz Version
This video was posted on my friend Scott’s Facebook page. It totally cracked me up. I’m going to watch it at least 14 times today. It’s almost as good as those “Shreds” videos I wrote about in Coffee Talk #421. Give it a watch and let me know what you think (please)!

YouTube is the #1 Source For Music Among Teenagers
Oh kids these days…. CDs are lame. MP3s are so 2008. According to a recent Nielsen study, the vast majority of teenagers get their music from YouTube. Here’s the scoop from the Wall Street Journal:
Nearly two-thirds of U.S. teenagers under the age of 18 say they use Google Inc.’s video-sharing site to listen to music, more than any other medium, according to a new consumer survey from Nielsen Co., one of many challenges facing record companies as they transition into the digital world.
This surprised the hell out of me, but perhaps it shouldn’t have. The first time I went online with a computer was with a 300 baud modem on a Commodore 64. I listened to eight-track cartridges and records as a kid. I can’t imagine what it’s like growing up with the easy access to information that the Internet provides. I would have guessed that teenagers preferred getting music from a digital retailer like Amazon or Apple. After further thought, YouTube is free and simple. Considering that many American teenagers have 24/7 Internet access then it’s no wonder that YouTube is the most popular music source for that demographic.
Any of you surprised by Nielsen’s findings?
