Adele’s James Bond 007 “Skyfall” Song

Here’s Adele’s “Skyfall” song for the upcoming James Bond 007 of the same name. It features her famous timbre and signature runs while also paying homage to songs from the previous Bond movies. Give the track a listen and let me know what you think (please!). Continue reading “Adele’s James Bond 007 “Skyfall” Song”

YouTube is the #1 Source For Music Among Teenagers

Oh kids these days…. CDs are lame. MP3s are so 2008. According to a recent Nielsen study, the vast majority of teenagers get their music from YouTube. Here’s the scoop from the Wall Street Journal:

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. teenagers under the age of 18 say they use Google Inc.’s video-sharing site to listen to music, more than any other medium, according to a new consumer survey from Nielsen Co., one of many challenges facing record companies as they transition into the digital world.

This surprised the hell out of me, but perhaps it shouldn’t have. The first time I went online with a computer was with a 300 baud modem on a Commodore 64. I listened to eight-track cartridges and records as a kid. I can’t imagine what it’s like growing up with the easy access to information that the Internet provides. I would have guessed that teenagers preferred getting music from a digital retailer like Amazon or Apple. After further thought, YouTube is free and simple. Considering that many American teenagers have 24/7 Internet access then it’s no wonder that YouTube is the most popular music source for that demographic.

Any of you surprised by Nielsen’s findings?

Jeffrey “Osang” Soliven Rocks X-Factor Phillipines

Osang is better than anybody I’ve seen on American Idol in the last five years. This transgender contestant rocks Drowning Pool’s “Bodies” and goes in an entirely different direction with Shaggy’s “Mr. Boombastic“. Underneath Osang’s effeminate facade is a hard-rocking power singer with enough versatility to tackle reggae grooves. Watch this video (please) and become a witness to Osang taking over the world (well…at least Southeast Asia).

Snoop Dogg’s Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Video

Here’s the video for “Knocc ‘Em Down” by Snoop Dogg (Lion), a song featured in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The video features a reincarnated Bob Marley, Adrianne Curry, FilthieRich, Mark Man, Justin Wong, and more. There are supposed to be hints that point to Snoop Dogg’s transformation into Snoop Lion throughout the clip (and he does proclaim him self Snoop Lion at the end of the video), but I didn’t see them since I’m still coming to terms with the concept of a reincarnated Bob Marley. Will he go on tour with Hologram Tupac?!?

Anyway, check out the Tekken-tastic video when you have a chance and let me know what you think (please).

AC/DC…the Wine Collection

AC/DC has announced that that band’s wines are now available in the US and Canada. Yes, the Australian rockers have their very own Australian wines, which are now available through Vinport. The tasty selections include:

Back in Black Shiraz
Hell’s Bells Sauvignon Blanc
Highway to Hell Cabernet Sauvignon
Thunderstruck Chardonnay

Normally, I prefer cabernets over chards, but Thunderstruck Chardonnay sound too awesome to pass up. Actually, they all sound awesome!

Which, if any, AC/DC wine would you drink first?

Andrew Lloyd Webber Wii Game Coming in September

Coming in September is…an Andrew Lloyd Webber videogame?!? It’s true! Andrew Lloyd Webber Musicals: Sing & Dance arrives for the Nintendo Wii on September 14, packed with songs from more than a dozen of the composer’s musicals. According to the press release, the game will feature timeless hits such as:

  • “All I Ask of You”
  • “Any Dream Will Do”
  • “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”
  • “Memory”
  • “The Phantom of the Opera”
  • “Superstar”

Featured musicals include:

  • Cats
  • Evita
  • Jesus Christ Superstar
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
  • The Phantom of the Opera
  • Starlight Express
  • Sunset Boulevard

The game will feature separate song and dance modes, as well as a career mode that combines both.

Andrew Lloyd Webber Musicals: Sing & Dance is set to be published by Tubby Games and, quite sadly, is only confirmed for a UK release. I’m so jealous of British gamers right now. I love musicals.

Tokova Tiger Shark: Meet Soulja Boy’s Android Tablet

Say hello to the Tokova Tiger Shark Soulja Boy Edition, a Google Android tablet that bears the American hip-hop artists name. After thinking about it for several hours, I’m still not sure what to make of the fact that we live in a world where a Soulja Boy-branded Android tablet exists. Part of me thinks it’s cool to see more celebrity-branded consumer-electronics (Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers camera was cool!). Part of me is afraid to see something like…I don’t know…a Toby Keith-branded mobile phone.

Here are the Soulja-specs for this $399.99 tablet:

  • Display: 7” Display 1024X600 IPS Resolution
  • Size: 7.5 x 5 x 0.4
  • Weight: 12 ounces
  • OS: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Hardware & Processing: 1.2 GHz 1G DDR2
  • Battery: 4500mAh/3.7V Li-polymer
  • Battery Life: Up to 8HRS.
  • Storage: 64 Internal Storage Supports 32 SD
  • Camera: Front-Facing Camera Rear-Facing 2 Mega Pixel
  • Smart Phone Connectivity: GSM 850/900/1800/1900/ UMST/2100
  • WCDMA Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • USB: Micro USB port HDMI Port Bluetooth® DC Port
  • Multimedia: Stereo Speakers Stereo Microphones
  • Video Output: H.264, DIVX, XVID, RM, RMVB, MKV, WMV, MOV
  • MP4, MPEG,DIVX, XVID
  • MPEG, MPG, FLV. HD 1080P
  • FM Radio Tuner (NO INTERNET REQUIRED)
  • Web Browsing: Adobe Flash® 10.3 HTML 5

Branding aside, it’s kind of pricey for a seven-inch tablet. You might as well get a Nexus 7 and have a talented artist write Soulja Boy on the back of it. You’d either be lauded for your originality or someone will make a diss track about you and your poser tablet. Either way, you’ll still have better tech at a cheaper price.

What do you tink of the Tokova Tiger Shark Soulja Boy Edition? Are there any celebrity-technology pairings that you long to see?
