The judges for the next season of American Idol have been finalized! Providing insights, entertainment, and (hopefully) insanity in 2013 will be Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, and Randy Jackson. With the show’s popularity waning, the producers decided to spruce things up with a new set of judges. (Though they couldn’t get rid of Randy Jackson. He must have naked photos of Nigel Lythgoe.)
AI was never able to replicate the drug-addled wonderfulness of Paul Abdul, who left the show in 2009. There’s an extremely high chance that the duo of Carey and Minaj will make the show more insane than it has ever been. The potential for awkward awesomeness is off the charts!

Nicki Minaj and awesome in the same sentence? WTF? I hope this is it for the show. It has jumped the shark more than Dexter has.
Her potential for disaster is fantastic. I think she’s a great train-wreck pick.

I don’t think the show’s ratings slipped as much from losing Paula Abdul as much as it did from losing Simon Cowell. In those first few weeks, America wants to see people who can’t sing to save their life (but think they can) and then somebody make them cry from brutal honesty.
THAT’s what the show has been missing.
Cowell definitely had more of an impact on ratings than Abdul. It’s more than that though. The show has just gotten stale for many people. A double dose of crazy women could bring viewers back.
Nah… Somebody is gonna have to be shrewd and over the top mean. And even then, it will look like somebody is just ripping off Simon.
I think the show is done.
