What Are You Playing This Weekend?

A stupid vendor sent me the wrong part, so my broken television is still broken. Thankfully, Insomniac’s Outernauts is here to save my weekend! This Facebook game is like a sci-fi Pokemon. Insomniac + Pokemon gameplay = Bliss. My Google Nexus 7 is still getting lots of play. The excellent Jazz: Trump’s Journey is on sale for 99 cents (sale ends today!) and the Nexus 7’s Tegra 3 processor handles it with aplomb. If you’re not familiar with the game, it’s a platformer loosely based on the life of Louis Armstrong — you know, that part of his life spent running, jumping, collecting things, and stopping time with his trumpet. Between Outernauts and Jazz, I’ll be a happy gamer this weekend.

How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?

      1. I think that game is on sale for $5 on XBL for this week. I’m still kind of on the fence about it. I would like to know more about the game before I make up my mind.

      2. You should know by now, that for me, it’s not about the money (although I do pride myself in being a cheap-ass gamer), it’s about the time.

I can’t be wasting my time on mediocre or crap games since I have so little time to devote to gaming. A full-time job, a kid, and a house that doesn’t take care of itself eat up the majority of my time, so the very little “me” time. I have to make sure that that I can maximize as much fun as I can get out of every minute I have to play.

This becomes especially bad when you take into account of my achievement whoreness. I am a compulsive completionist and most of the time, that means getting all the achievements (or all of the achievements “within reason”). So even if I start playing a bad game, I will feel compelled to complete it. And the last thing I or any person wants to do is be mentally suck on a bad or mediocre game.

I think that the better question I should ask is: “How long does it take to complete ‘Orcs Must Die’?”

  1. I recently restarted a new game of Dragon Age II, so maybe that. Otherwise, more SWTOR and ME3 multiplayer.

  2. A little of everything. I have 17 unopened games I bought at some point.
Other than that I’m putting Jellybean on my Galaxy Note and doing homework.

  3. If i manage to not get tix to lollapalooza then batman ac or possibly l4d dlc if i can get to the store to buy a points card

  4. Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention for the PS Vita, because it’s fun AND funny. Not to mention that I looooove turn-based strategy games!
