What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Last night I started playing Dyad for PlayStation 3. It’s a cool puzzle-racer that features soothing sounds and trippy visuals. I’m really digging it so far and looking forward to playing more this weekend. The audio-visual aspects of the game are so intense that Dyad seems like an excellent game to play while drinking. You shouldn’t drink and drive, but drinking and driving your way through a puzzle-racer is completely fine.

How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?

      1. I may pick up NCAA Football 13 as well. We'll see. The last two years it's been better than Madden, but I'm also trying to save up to buy a new Gibson SG.

      2. What makes NCAA better than Madden? Just curious. I like beating up on the Giants in Madden. For reason Matt Ryan always gets hurt when I play the Saints. Hehe.

      3. I'm shocked Matt Ryan can throw the ball more than 10 yards in Madden. Prolly the only place they'll ever win a Super Bowl though, so keep those dreams alive.

As for why it's better, NCAA is just a more solid football product. The last couple of years the presentation in Madden has been too much. They spent too much time on fireworks before preseason games, that they forgot to make the players run nearly as smoothly as NCAA. Also, the MLB's with 20/10 vision in the back of their heads and the ability to pole vault from a dead stop to catch balls 25 feet in the air doesn't seem to exist in NCAA the way it does in Madden. The defensive audibles are much easier in NCAA, because it's less button pushes and there's not 20 seconds of TV presentation between each snap keeping you from actually reading the offense and having time to make an adjustment. Offensive audibles are better in Madden though, as in NCAA you have to scroll through the entire playbook. Also, No Gus Johnson in NCAA, so the PLAY calling DOESN'T FEEL completely DISJOINTED DUE TO a terriblely inconstant EXCITEMENT level on EACH play. I mean, if Hakeem Nicks runs a 5 yard out, the play by play guy shouldn't be losing his mind. Just saying.

That said, it looks like they're making some good adjustments to Madden this year, so I'm hopeful it'll be better than it's been the last couple of years.

  1. Is it me, Mr. Padilla, or do you just happen to like games that are only playable when stoned out of your mind?
