This Week’s Videogame Releases

There are a bunch of fun games coming out this week, but I wanted to kick things off with one of my E3 2012 surprises that was released last week. I’m talking about Brave, the game based on the Pixar movie. I had no expectations for this game and was delighted to find an action-RPG that reminded me a lot of the old Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance games. I kind of want to see the movie, but I really want to play the game. Speaking of movie-games, The Amazing Spider-Man is out this week for your web-slinging pleasure. If military shooters are more your thing then you’ll want to check out Spec Ops: The Line. Do you want a game with the ugliest Olympic logo in history? If so then you must buy London 2012. Last, but not least, is a quirky-cute Japanese RPG called Record of the Agarest War 2.

Any of you picking up new games this week?

  1. Is there a mario & sonic version out for the 2012 olympics. Also best buy has a deal where u buy the ASM game and get one of the spiderman movies on blu-ray which could be a good deal since they come with a coupon for $ off the ASM movie.

  2. SSX and Soul Caliber 5 both 10 bucks this month (with coupon) at best buy.

Playstation 3d display 199 starting wednesday at Gamestop.

    Yeah…I'm cheap.

    1. SSX I liked, but thought it could have done without the survival runs. Soul Caliber V had some good ideas, but at the expense of a lot of what I liked about the series prior to that.

    2. How did SSX get to $10? It was $30 when I looked before because of the $30 off coupon, is it on sale for $40 now and then cheaper with the $30 off coupon? I'd pick it up for $10.

      1. Yeah, price cut to 40 bucks. So, 10 after coupon.

Dragon age 2 is also 5 dollars this month (with coupon. )

  3. Skyrim: Dawngaurd, Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut and SWTOR 1.3: Allies all drop tomorrow. I'm running out of time to figure out how to clone myself so I can play them all.

  4. Pokemon Conquest also comes out. I didn't play a lot of this one, but it seemed interesting if I had more free time. It's a turn based RPG style game that places Pokemon in the hands of warlords in a stylistic Japanese feudal culture. Using your Pokemon you have to gain control of the 17 different regions by defeating the warlord of each region.

I was also told that Amazing Spider-Man was a lot of fun. I'm not planning on buying any video games right now, but those are the only two this week that looked appealing to me.

  5. Nothing for me this week. I'm starting Mass Effect 3. We'll see how that goes.

If anyone wants 1 million gold for Diablo 3 let me know. I'm done with it. They keep patching it and ruining the game.

    1. "They keep patching it and ruining the game."

Please elaborate (and feel free to go on a "SlickyFats"- style rant).

      1. They don't like ppl playing the game unless it's how they intend. To read further into it: our controlled economy of the auction houses only allows you to do what we say. So no more smashing urns or anything. Oh and now repairs will cost you six times as much. Ergo sending you to the $AH.I hate reading blue posts like this: “we strived to create a different game than Diablo 2. We feel we have succeeded in every way.” Ppl still play a 12 year old game…must have done something right over a decade ago.The whole game is built around an AH and isn't fun since you have to use it and they constantly nerf and eliminate gameplay elements. Kinda makes them look full of shit about fine tuning a game over the last 5+ years when there are weakly patches for bugs and nerfs. Figured those would be history with an 8 month beta.Sent from a device with horrible AT&T service.
