Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, why Dwyane Wade is allowed to kung-fu kick defenders, Keira Knightley getting engaged (*sniff*), or Chris Jericho’s recent WWE suspension, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
Continuing yesterday’s chat about Microsoft at E3 2012, let’s spend today talking about your wants, expectations, and dreams for Sony at this year’s show. The company is in an interesting position after leading the console wars for two generations. It arguably has the best hardware, but has lost out to Xbox 360. The PlayStation Vita is a wonderful bit of kit, but standalone portable gaming devices seem to be giving way to highly capable smartphones and tablets. PlayStation Move has some impressive tech, but it doesn’t seem to be getting the same kind of support Microsoft is throwing behind Kinect. PlayStation Home…is still there.
What are you hoping Sony will do at E3 2012? Are you most interested in PlayStation 3 exclusives? Are you psyched for the next salvo of PlayStation Vita titles? Maybe you want a wider variety of t-shirts for your PlayStation Home avatar? Please leave your wants, predictions, and expectations for Sony’s E3 2012 in the comments section (as you listen to Adam Lambert).
I want Sony to expand on the Vita's capabilities. The app store is pretty barren right now. They've got some necessary ones, like Facebook, Skype and Netflix, but there's not much variety. Also, it doesn't have too many games going for it at the moment, and that needs to be changed. I want portable Battlefront, people! Gimme some half-decent FPS action that isn't Uncharted so I can show off the double-joystick action, and I'm sure everyone will walk away happy.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to make some announcements regarding the next-gen PlayStation system. For instance, maybe an announcement about how the new system won't cost over $400 this time instead of the Vita's "Over $600" statement that caused such a panic?
I'd like more bandwidth for PSN.
I'd also like a reason to turn on my PS3.
I'm hoping to see Sony give me a free PS3. But barring that, I think it would be cool to see a God of War RTS where you command your hellish minions to a very heavily fortified Mt. Olympus.
I would also sit back and wait patiently for the inevitable Smash Bros. vs. Sony All-Stars verbal throwdown and mandatory comparison.
BTW, do Sony users use the Move as much as they do in the commercials or is it used as much as the Kinect for Mass Effect 3?

I just read on "that other site" that the CAW feature in WWE '13 is going to be exclusive for PS3… this can't be true. The "sleuths" over there are either playing a joke that's only clear to the "in" crowd, or they are lying for whatever reason, or they have one thumb in their ass and one in their mouth desperately waiting for someone to yell "SWITCH".
Now… Yukes is already shooting themselves in the foot by screwing with the gameplay. The gameplay was perfect 2 years ago. It got rated very high. The stories were great, and the custom features were stellar. Last year, it's like they said "Well… can't get better than that… so lets scale back"…. and the fans showed them what they thought of that.
What they should have done is followed Madden's example. They found the formula, and are still riding it. We'll be happy with new moves, stories, superstars, caw gear, and arenas… THAT'S ALL WE WANT!!!!
Idiots.
If the CAW feature is exclusive to one console or the other, the game won't sell for crap. That just sounds stupid enough to be an idea that THQ thought up.
For real.
I see "innovative new gameplay" and I scratch my head at that alone.
Removing the most popular feature the game has had in the last decade (even if only on one, more popular console) is suicide. As much as I'd love to blame the publisher, I have to look at the developers first. The only thing that would make sense to me is if Dana White is paying them to kill the franchise or WWE is being dicks to them.
Other than that, the one cool premise I read was "relive the Attitude era in a new storyline"… but if the gameplay sucks, piss on it.
I suppose it's fair to say that I barely use any of the real WWE superstars because I don't know who, or care who they are. That doesn't really help market any of these guys to me, which is the goal of the game. As such, I could see how WWE as an entity wouldn't like the CaW feature, in much the same way you can no longer replace all 32 teams in Madden (which you could do on the PS2/XBOX versions) because the NFL wants to market it's teams.
I want a new Ratchet & Clank…..and I'm getting one (YAY)!! That and I want to know what's up with the new God of War's real mode (I don't count multiplayer as being "real" in that game).
I want them to fix my ps3 for free or allow me to buy a new directly from them at a pro-rated price. Since they wont do either then i cant look forward to anything sony offers.
I dont remember popping the question to Keira this weekend but i did get pretty trashed saturday.
For real…. you blacked out a proposal?
Blacked out; What!? If your asking if i for real proposed to someone. No i didnt. I was pointing out one of rpad's sub-topics and how i wish it was me.
I don't have a PS3 but it seems that their exclusives fall under Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, and GOW. Talk about riding a formula.
