Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, digesting outstanding birthday food, Michael Vick complaining about referees, or rooting for Manchester City, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
Last week I had one of the silliest videogame dreams I’ve ever had in my life. In my dream, I was feverishly playing a Gilligan’s Island real-time strategy game made by Blizzard. I was harvesting bamboo to build war huts. I was gathering coconuts to make coconut-cream pies to hurl at my enemies. I was defending Queen Mary Ann Summers from the villainous Emperor Howell and the mad scientist Professor Roy Hinkley. From the bits I remember, it was an intense battle played out in wonderfully polished and addictive Blizzard RTS.
Yeah, pretty ridiculous, hey? It’s been awhile since I’ve had such a vivid and crazy videogame dream. I had to share it with you. I’m also trying to remember what I ate that night and wondering if anyone slipped me any absinthe….
Have you had any crazy videogame dreams lately? Please share them in the comments section! If you were playing a Gilligan’s Island RTS, which team would you pick? Are you a Ginger? Is Skipper your man? Or would you go with good old Gilligan? Also, is anyone else shocked that some hack TV executive hasn’t tried to remake Gilligan’s Island?
Ha!
I came across an article that puts it perfectly why I hate using my PS3. I will tolerate it for Uncharted 3 though but it will be the last game I buy for it more than likely.

Wow that makes me not want a PS3.
The killer for me was Gran Turismo 5. I bought it on release day and then proceeded to wait no less than 1.5 hours to play the game. In addition to the install the menus took forever to use. I played the game twice and got more use trading it in at bestbuy towards Gears 3 than I ever did playing it.
That reminds me; I need to put you on my GoW 3 Horde list. When I buy the game, I actually want to do it with familiar people and not random drop-outs. That is, if you're up for Horde mode in a few months.

Sure. Just let me know in some advance fashion in a few months so I'll be sure to acquire gold subscription again by then.
I cannot, in good conscience, ask you to buy a gold subscription just to play GoW 3 with our motely crew. That kind of scratch can buy you a whole new game.

I meant a 3 month sub lol. Just let me know.Sent from my iPhone 4
Good article and is exactly how ive been feeling about my ps3 lately too.
It would definitely bother me if the updates on my system took hours, its more like 5 minutes for a firmware update. I dont have an issue with download speed here in Va, but i suppose its fair to say that if i did, like Smartguy does, then i would feel different about the ps3
Nice. I actually liked the linked rant article better. Surprise; there's no such thing as a perfect console despite what PR firms say, huh?
BTW; how good are you at StarCraft 2? $30,000 will buy a lot of crawfish.

The last video game dream I remember was a few years ago, and it was really violent. I was playing Far Cry 2, I mean, Far Cry 2 was playing me lol. It was like the movie Gamer but much better, I was running around in my favorite map, Love Shacks, blasting fools with an automatic shotgun, hurling grenades, and pulling shrapnel out of myself and teammates. As I am dreaming this fun forward or backslash disturbing dream, the song Love Shacks is being played and that took the shooting to another level. I remember that I started to consciously think about the contrast of the song and the images I was seeing (btw I am still sleeping at this point) and thought it would make a good commercial. Then I woke up.
I'm pretty sure we could come up with a movie that was much better than Gamer.
Yea I fell asleep on that movie.
I dreamt once that I was playing Big 13lak in MK.
How crazy is that? It was completely unrealistic.
So… uh, who won? Or rather; how did the dream end?
-M
It was a draw.
He was Smoke and didn't try to land one hit on me. Every time I got close to him, he'd teleport out of the way. Eventually the clock ran out.
Wow you have dreams about me, I'm flattered, but no thanks.
Oh, he's Smoke now?!? Excuse me while I pull out the racism card!
Giving Spotify another chance. Anyone else using it?
I tried to use it, but its kind of pointless IMO, if i wanted to listen to music while i "facebooked", id just use VLC media player and one of the 1000's of songs on my hard drive
This is definitely one of the reasons that the Internet was created: So that I can share this with y'all.

– Spidercat
– M.E.O.W.D.O.K.
– Purrigan

– Catain America
– Mewtiful Joe

Maybe BB would fight N8 if they were kittens!

aww, deadpool is adorable
That's outstanding!
I just noticed Wolfurene. He's so adorable with his three little claws! Also, I missed Fleanix Wright, Furank West (with the bloody bat and camera), and Amrawretsu.
