In a sad bit of news, Capcom has cancelled Mega Man Universe. A couple of you showed interest in the game. I was intrigued too. I was really looking forward to the blend of classic Mega Man gameplay and creative user-made levels. I was thinking that Mega Man Universe would feel like a more familiar version of the excellent LittleBigPlanet. Sadly, a potentially cool game has been killed.
Any of you disappointed by Mega Man Universe’s demise?

I was and still perplexed as to why that got the green light. To me that was doa.
Mega Man is still globally popular with hardcore platformer fans. It's certainly still highly popular in Japan.
I am aware of the popularity its just the direction of that particular game is what I found off putting.
Why? LBP is successful. This would be like LBP, but with established gameplay.
Is LBP pop in Japan?
Great question. No it isn't. Some think that it's because it doesn't play like a Japanese platformer, while others say it's just too British for the Japanese audience. I think the concept of LBP with Japanese characters and gameplay would succeed over there.
"too British?" What does that mean? Is Sackboy a tea-sipping, scone-eating, monocle-wearing, pasty white soccer hooligan with bad teeth?

British developers have certain sensibilities. The gameplay style and humor don't always work for Japanese gamers.
