All Retail NGP Games Will Be Available Digitally: Do You Care?

In a recent interview with MCV, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House said, “All [NGP] games that appear physically will be made available digitally.” While I absolutely love the immediacy and convenience of digital media, I know that some of you love physical media. Do you care that all NGP retail games will have digital equivalents? Will the NGP change the way you buy games? Can you see yourself buying the majority of games for your NGP digitally? Or are you still tied to the box and manual?

  1. i think it's pretty kool that it will be available digitally but i don't have an interest in getting an NGP. If i eventually do give in and get one, i think i'll care more if they give me a code that i can use to install the game in more than one NGP. i bought the game so if i have more than one NGP i should be able to install it wherever i want.

  2. No.

After messing with the 3DS, I think it will be huge. I don't see the NGP as a viable purchase at any time for me.

  3. That's cool. It will please both sides of the digital distribution and retail war.

  4. I like digital games but you can not share, and we all know that sharing is caring so…..

  5. my big concern is that if a game is distributed digitiallly, it better not cost as much as its physically counterpart…no trade in value, no cost to sony to package game, ship game…etc

  6. Yeah, I don't care at all. If they're gonna cost the same (and they will), then I'd rather have the physical copy.

    1. It is nice to have games in a digital form though when it comes to switching what game I play, especially in a portable format. That would just mean less stuff for me to carry, but that would only work with a game I knew beforehand I would want to keep and would only play on my console.

Most of the time I would also rather have the physical media though.
