What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The Decision has been made! I’m going to hold off on playing Pokemon White. This weekend is all about Dragon Age II for me. I’ve only played a little over five hours and I’m loving it. Yes, I understand that a lot of features have been simplified in order to broaden its appeal, but I think that a lot of reviewers have blown things out of proportion. The gameplay is easier in some ways, simpler in others, but the storytelling and characterization are fantastic thus far. I’m curious to see if I’ll change my tune over the weekend.

How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?

  1. i'll be playing some killzone 3, black ops, uncharted, and mlb the show if i can find a redbox to rent it from.

  2. Killzone 3. I went out and bought the gun attachment that Kevin Butler shows off for KZ3.

It cost me $40 for the "attachment" then the move controller is $50 and the navigation controller is $30. So to make a gun it cost me $120……seems worth it (sarcasm).

Oddly the gun isn't just some attachment like on the Wii. The Move controller actually plugs in to a port on the front so then rather than button pressing being a mechanical process from the gun to the controller it is just wired. There is no clacking noises. The gun is solid with an expendable butt. To reload your weapon you cock the gun like a pump action shotgun. Aiming while zoomed is actually pretty cool and precise. you have 2 triggers, 1 is the Move button and the main trigger is…well the Trigger. Also the Square and Triangle buttons are above the trigger and easy to hit with your index finger. There are 3 different firing modes selectable on the gun, but I didn't notice anything change.

My arms got TIRED though. Also the navigation controller is a bit odd to use where its placed, but it is in the best possible location. t makes the game tougher but adds some variety to it.

I wouldn't use it online for sure but it isn't too bad against the computer AI.

  3. Eh tackling some Fallout: New Vegas hopefully. And restarted FFXIII. And maybe snag some people up on Magic and LBP2

    1. Magic? As in Magic the Gathering? Do you know anything about the Magic Cards? After my older brother died we found several thousand Magic: The Gathering cards. I know some are worth lots of money but I don't know what to do with them.

      1. Yep Magic: The Gathering. Been playing that game since I was 15, lol. And I got the PSN version for my hubby too lol.

        Several thousand cards? Wow…

  4. I'm preparing to take on the Elite Four in Pokemon Black. I doubt I will get very far because I have enough reading and writing to do for next week and also my fiance and I are supposed to be going to the St. Patrick's parade in Chicago tomorrow too. I am just trying to level up a bunch of different Pokemon right now though before I start my trek down Victory Road. I have some decent ones mostly high level 30's and low to mid level 40's. The second or third gym (don't remember which now) is the only one I had a harder time with because I have used pretty good type advantages over all of the gyms. I feel like I will get slaughtered if I go for the Elite Four right now though.

I have a Beartic, Gigalith, Serperior, Sawk, Archen, Darmanitan, Unfezant, Druddigon, and Panpour all in the running for who I will be taking with me. Also, I haven't had a chance to use the other two starters—but my Serperior feels weak compared to other grass starters in the past. I'm also very attached to Venusaur though. Nevertheless, I've heard that there is a tough battle directly after I finish all of the Elite Four and champion battles, so that is another reason for me wanting to go into the Elite Four properly prepared.

      1. Well I go rather slowly through the story modes in all of the games. I'm not sure why I am so slow, but It took me about 40ish hours to beat all 8 gyms and I've also spent a little bit of time catching multiples of pokemon and then trading them on the GTS so my pokedex is now over 100 seen and a little under 80 caught. I've heard other people say they got through all 8 gyms in under 30 hours, so it depends on how much time you spend talking to NPC's and just wandering around just because you can.

    1. hahaha it seems like talking about Pokemon games always brings out these style quotes. nice!

  5. Dragon Age II, obviously. I'm loving it so far and I think the upgrades for the console version are fantastic.

    1. Yeah so far, I am really enjoying it as well. I think the Dialog wheel is a very welcome change from the Baldur's line dialog from the original, and the voice actors and writing is fantastic. About 20ish hours in and I am really digging the personalized nature of the story (a lot less save the world, and a lot more politics).

Fav character so far: Toss up between Fenris and Verric (with runner-up easily going to Salarian Scientist in training Merrell)

  6. First of all Rpad is the man! Secondly, PAX is so much better this year than last. I really didn't do much today because I learned that you have to pace yourself at these kind of events. I can tell you that LA Noire is shaping up to be another great game from Rockstar. It feels like Mafia 2, but that is only because the two games share the same time periods. It totally has that Rockstar feel and look even though the graphics are on a whole new level of awesomeness! The game was running on the PS3 and it literally made my jaw drop. Why don't I have a PS3?!?

  7. The 3DS is effing crazily awesomely sweeter than sweet and I didn't even use it yet lol. That is on tomorrows to do list.

    1. Nintendo really has to roll out some demo machines. There is no way I am even going to consider buying this, especially at launch, if I have no way to see the glasses-less 3d for myself. Heard it was awesome, but I am not putting 250 down without some kind of proof.
