  1. GoTY: none of the above. Starcraft 2

    innovation: Limbo I guess

    Action Game: BC2 (by far!)

    Adventure Game: Enslaved (surprisingly good)

    Casual: Angry Birds

RPG: Cataclysm. How could it be beaten??

    SN Game: Who cares!?

    1. I need to play Enslaved some more. I had just got to the part were the staff could be used as a gun.

  2. How sad is it that I either didn't like or didn't play most of the games listed.

I didn't like Black OPs at all. Pretty sure I never even finished the SP.

Bad Company 2 was my Favorite game out of all listed.

Angry Birds deserves to win something even though I got bored with it very quickly and can't even bring myself to install it again even being free.

      1. @Ray

Games are so relative in many instances. There are many on this site who love God of War 3 and Heavy Rain. I couldn't endure either of them. My copy of GoW3 kept bugging out so much I gave up on it. Truth be told though I was considering ditching it before the bugs killed it for me. The gameplay just wasn't keeping me interested. Heavy Rain just wasn't for me. I didn't care for all of the quicktime motions. If it would have been more of an action crime story….I would have liked it more I'm sure. The interface and UI are very important to me.

      2. Sure, but the list is pretty diverse. If someone didn't like those two games then what about AC: Brotherhood or Red Dead or Halo: Reach. There are only a few games on the list that I really like personally, but it's easy to see that it's a high-quality group.

      3. @Ray

Sure. I bought Halo Reach but never really got in to it. Iceman was nice enough to carry me to the Legendary Achievement for beating the SP. The AC games haven't appealed to me honestly. I bought the first one and didn't care for it then tried the 2nd. I decided that they make those games for people other than me. I'm not calling them bad, but their quality or appeal just didn't bring me in.

Right now I'm playing RDR slowly. In fact it has been a week since I have picked it up. It begins a bit too slow. I personally need a game to get me interested in it within the first half hour. I don't get that much time during the week to play games between work/home/gym/etc.

      4. #Ray

Thanks lol. My normal routine is to pick about 6-10 songs and listen to them. Once I'm done with those songs I know I've ran long enough. I just can't watch TV like some people do. I actually use that time to think.

However I'm quite sure I will break a leg or at least mildly f myself up if I were to use a 3DS during a workout lol.

      5. I would agree. My PS3 hardly gets used but I haven't noticed it having playback issues on anything else. GT5 ran great whenever it wasn't loading a menu between races lol.

I honestly found Vanquisher to be more fun than GofW3. meh.

      6. Angry Birds HD – liked but got old

Call of Duty: Black Ops – didn't like

God of War III – loved but probably won't play again

Mass Effect 2 – never played, burned out a on the first one

Red Dead Redemption – too buggy and no fun

Dance Central – fun with people but single player only kills that

Heavy Rain – liked just never finished

LIMBO – loved it just got stuck

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – my GOTY

Halo: Reach – MEH, better than ODST just seemed stale

        Alan Wake – never played

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood – never played, got bored with 2nd one

ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West – need to finish

Bejeweled 3 – like it but wasn't nearly the step 1 to 2 was

Kinect Sports – fun with people who don't care about accuracy or glitches

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX – never heard of it

Plants vs. Zombies – never played

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies – never heard of it

Fable III – never played, 2 was bad enough to not warrant a 3

Fallout: New Vegas – just never got into it the same as F3

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm – Never played

        Cityville – never played

        Family Feud – never played

        FrontierVille – played but lame

        Nightclub City – never played

        Ravenwood Fair – never played

  3. I fell like Heavy Rain was Pigeonholed into the "Adventure" category, since it really doesn't have a category that it fits nicely in. But if you've got to force it in, it doesn't belong and shouldn't win.

Anyway, if I had my Druthers:

Game of the Year – Mass Effect 2

Outstanding Innovation in Gaming – Red Dead Redemption

Action Game of the Year – God of War III

Adventure Game of the Year – Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Casual Game of the Year (frankly, I've only played Kinect Sports so my opinion on this catagory is useless)

Role-Playing/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year – Mass Effect 2

Social Networking Game of the Year – barf

  4. how do they come up with nominees? the list of games feels pretty limited in each category.

    1. As per the press release:

"More than 100 titles were played and evaluated by members of the Academy’s Peer Panels. These panels, one for each award category, are comprised of the game industry’s most experienced and talented men and women who are experts in their chosen fields."

      1. I guess. The lists still feel limited and i'd have to agree with Smartguy, i don't see how SC2 doesn't make it on this list after all the rave reviews it got.

      2. So, I other words, the industry has their "top" men on it.

        Who are these men?

        "TOP" men.

(move to shot of a crate full of these games being loaded in a warehouse full of endless crates of games with a score composed by John Williams)
