Happy Birthday RPad.tv!!!

Today is the site’s birthday! Thank you all so very much for being part of this crazy ride. It has been a fun, crazy, challenging, and funky year…but the best is yet to come. Any second now I’m going to flip a switch to give the site a new look. In the months to come, I plan to have some fun video content. I’m nervous and excited about doing video again. There will definitely be some growing pains, but I hope you dig it! Anyway, thank you thank you thank you for reading the site and hanging out with me here. Your company and readership mean so much to me.

Now let’s play a game! To celebrate the site, I’d like to hear about your favorite RPad.tv memory (or memories). Were there any conversations or articles that stood out to you? Or maybe something more abstract like the general vibe of the site? Kindly share your warm and fuzzy RPad.tv stories. Let’s make the site blush!

  1. Glad to be here for you, the site, and for all the friends here. Thanks for running such a great site and giving all of us a place to hang out. There have been a lot of great times here, and I'm not completely sure about a favorite time. I usually like the big debates we have about various things, like mine and N8's debate between windows and mac. Talking about new movies, games, fantasy football, anything really. This is just the best place on the web to hang out, period.

      1. I'm with you BSU, I don't get butthurt about things like that either.

I completely respect your opinion as well as everyone else's.

  2. It's gonna take a little bit for me to get used to… but not that long.

    Happy Birthday RPad.tv.

  3. Rpad,

You are a great, non-conventional commentary. Thank you for letting us fans have a place to post our opinions and feel like we have a special place. I wish you nothing but success in the future!

  4. This is one of those rare sites where you don't have to worry about flame wars lol (except for the casual joking of XI vs WoW lol). Everyone has intelligent and often very insightful ways of thinking. I just scroll passed the football and I'm good to go. Thanks for letting us be a part of it Ray! <3

  5. I think everything is fixed now. Let me know what you think of the redesign. I can change things back to a look that's more like the old style, but I kinda dig this one.

Also, please remind me not to do an OS upgrade the night before a redesign. That's frickin' stupid. It took so long to get everything working because Dell doesn't support Windows 7 64-bit for my laptop. Dumb dumb dumb. *sigh* I really want an iMac.

      1. My laptop came with Vista 32-bit. I have an upgrade disc to 64-bit, but never got around to it. If you want Windows 7 64-bit through the upgrade disc than you have to have Vista 64-bit installed already.

  6. my favorite memory of rpad.tv was when smartguy and I were banned from shacknews because we posted something here that someone over there objected to….E3 was a fun week

      1. Yeah that was a pretty cool point in time. And you and smartguy getting banned by shacknews was pretty fun as well. But I really liked that Ray was able to be the first one to break the news about the 3DS and be right about it, much to the dismay (i'm sure) of a couple people at another site not worth naming.

  7. Yeah I'd have to say that getting Duke Nuked from Shacknews and reading the reason was amazing.

  8. The first time I came on this site there were so many posts welcoming me here that I felt instantly accepted and appreciated which is rare in general. I love that we all come from different places (physically, financially, mentally, etc.) and because of that we also have objectives and opinions that differ quite frequently but are THOROUGHLY RESPECTED , even in the most intense (and sometimes frustrating) posts and threads.

  9. I like the upgrade. I can't believe it's been a year already.

The most memorable moment that I can recall was not so much your breaking of the Nintendo 3DS story, but the fallout that came afterwards. Journalisim can be so cutthroat sometimes (if not all the time).

    Here's to another successful year!

      1. I feel somewhat sorry for them honestly. Just once they need to draw a different team in the first round.

      2. You could replace the word "Twins" with "Braves" and I think the sentence would still hold true.

    1. I, too, was a bit confused by the horse in the picture, until I saw who was riding the horse.

      Hint: It's not me.

      1. There's gotta be a way to make sure they don't get bigger than a certain width. Kinda like an "if/than" thing.

WP doesn't operate as easily as any other webpage from my experience however. So, I don't want to cause you any extra headaches.

      2. I really don’t mean to press this… it truly is your call and I have your back no matter what.

It seems the only reason there’s an adjustment in the style sheet is because you can set the width of the column. Some folks might like 100px, others might like 800px, some blogs are flexible width. How are they supposed to know what everyone that uses WP wants?

However. I am noticing that since this is a reply to a reply to a reply to a reply, the text area is now considerably smaller than the original comment. That may be a factor.

      3. Oh… I get what your saying now…

your saying it should just be an option in the plug-in and it adjusts the style sheet for you.

        I agree with that.

      1. Must be an iOS limitation with mobile safari then. There is no way for me to log in. The reply box is notably absent as well.

      2. Yeah, it's not in an obvious place and I have no way to change it unless I open up comments. One possibility is making comments open to all, but using Captcha to fight spam.

      3. It's fine. There are a few sites that use that type of mobile style. Now I know how to do that on all of them and vice versa for new visitors. My 2 cents.
