To celebrate the two-year anniversary of its Chrome web browser, Google has release version six of its excellent web surfer. Here’s a clip from the official Google blog:
We’re releasing a new stable version of Chrome that is even faster and more streamlined. Chrome is now three times faster than it was two years ago on JavaScript performance. We’ve also been working on simplifying the “chrome” of Chrome. As you can see, we took the already minimalist user interface and stripped it down a bit more to make it easier to use. We combined Chrome’s two menus into one, revisited the location of the buttons, cleaned up the treatment of the URL and the Omnibox, and adjusted the color scheme of the browser to be easier on the eyes.
Chrome has been my main browser for about a year and I’m thrilled with its performance. I used to be a Firefox guy, but that browser has been getting slow and bloated. I’m super impressed with how quickly Chrome has progressed in a short period of time.
Any of you download the latest version of Chrome? Is it your primary browser? If not, how does it compare to your main browser?
I'm still a safari man.
unless i have to do online banking then I have to use Firefox since my bank is retarded. I should start using a new one that allows me to use a mobile browswer or safari.
I use Chrome and Firefox simultaneously, with Chrome doing the heavy lifting when I need something done quickly. It definitely has a lot more speed than any other browser I use, but I have not updated to version 6 yet. Will let you know when I do and whether I like it or not…which will probably happen in a couple minutes.
@smartguy I'm really looking forward to Bank Simple's launch:

Interesting.
I don't notice any more speed here, but I do like the design a little more. The colors they used to differentiate a couple parts works nicely, and I like having only one menu bar to work from, there never really was a need to have two in the first place. I do wish they would have kept the star option on the left side of the URL instead of all the way to the right.
I definitely recommend Chrome or Firefox to anyone I know. In all honesty I don't know what the draw is to people to use Safari or IE (or Opera too, I guess, but I have only met maybe 1 person who uses Opera).
@rpad
is this bank simple thing real??
I just recently started using Chrome (about 2 weeks now). and I have to admit it has spoiled me a bit. Firefox does seem sluggish when compared to Chrome. But sometimes I cannot get Chrome to load pages properly for school so I have to go back to Firefox and sometimes even Explorer 6.
About to get the newer Chrome now.
I have been using Chrome on my Mac for about 6 months now and love it. It is comparable to Safari even a bit faster and blows Firefox for Mac out of the Water. When I use Boot Camp to run Windows 7 I use Firefox over Chrome but I might try Version 6 and see if it has improved on the Windows side of things.
