Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Scott Pilgrim needing your support, Dustin Johnson being the victim of a stupid golf rule, or the latest threats to net neutrality, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
Man that was an awesome weekend — great WWE action, fantastic friends, good food, and mingling with WWE Superstars! Here are some random highlights.
– It’s always great to see the crew from Yuke’s Yokohama. I make lots of jokes about my tiny involvement in their game, but these cats work really hard to pump out a strong WWE game on a yearly schedule. They’re awesome.
– Melina is much prettier in person than on TV. I learned this when I met her a few years ago. I was reminded of it on Saturday. She’s also unnervingly sweet.
– The Sheraton bar was great on Saturday and Sunday. Among the people hanging out were WWE Champion Sheamus, Edge, Christian, Michael Hayes, Mark Henry, Kaval, R-Truth, Finlay, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Percy Watson, and Jack Swagger. I’m definitely forgetting a bunch of people.
– The only time I got nervous around WWE talent was when I bumped into Arn Anderson. The dude’s a legend and one of my all-time favorites. His spinebuster still rules!
– I marked out massively when Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) was announced for the Summer Slam main event. I enjoyed most of the card, but that had me out of my seat, screaming, and pumping my fist. (Keep in mind that I was in a luxury suite and not on the floor, where it would have been more appropriate.) Total mizzark moment.
– Hanging out with my boy Jose from Electric Playground is always excellent. However, two days of screaming “Ask him!!!”, “Excuse me!!!”, and “What’s up?!?” (like R-Truth’s) has completely screwed my voice for the week. And with that, I shall leave you with a song and a question: People on my site, what’s up?!?
What's up?
Drank a little too much this weekend that's what's up
Forgot to mention that Matt Sydal's (Evan Bourne's) shooting star press looks brilliant live. I've never seen anyone do that move so well. (As opposed to Justin Gabriel's okay 540 splash. Austin Aries' does it way better.)
summerslam was okay. The Miz's mic work was awesome and Bryan Danielson was impressive. I was watching it with a couple of my friends and he was bashing him saying he doesn't know how to wrestle. Then he started the match off with a bang and i turned to him then said he doesn't know how to wrestle huh??? I wish triple h would've come back too. I'm tired of this Kane and Undertaker sibling rivalry story line. Oh man Rpad you should've heard 'Taker trying to talk to Rey, you could tell he hadn't used his big man voice in awhile.
@Scott Pilgrim
i'm planning to go see that tonite!
@golf
i have no idea what the rule was, so i can't judge.
@net neutrality
Skynet, i mean google is almost ready to fullfill their role to end humanity.
There's a suspicious car on Wilshire that might have a bomb. Can't get to super secret office. Sitting on the sidewalk until I hear some news.
@ Ray
Speaking of cars that kill…
That California 200 race where 8 people died and 12 were injured was pretty damn close to my house.
Not in the general vicinity, but like 3 towns over.
@ Ray (as well)
Were any pre order bonuses for SVR 2011 announced last night?
@N8R There's an embargo until Wednesday. I shall tell you then, unless things change.
Sigh. Lost a day of work because of the stupid bomb threat.
@California 200
I have never been to any kind of race like that, BUT I can't really feel sorry for the people killed/injured. What did they really expect to happen when they were standing 10 feet from cars that are going at least 100mph? It baffles me at the sheer stupidity of people sometimes.
I am glad they brought back Bryan Danielson. Now I have a reason to watch the WWE again.
@ All
Maybe its because I just took some vitamins but ISN'T RPAD THE MOFO'N MAN!? For real, this man didn't know me from a hole in the wall and now I'm addicted to this site lol. I feel like we can ask him just about anything and hes honest.
@Rpad
Ray your the effing man and don't ever think less of yourself, positive vibrations are a coming your way.
@Big Blak
Couldn't agree more with you on that one!
Two more Summer Slam 2010 notes:
– The Miz's promo was brilliant — one of the best I've seen in years. It reminded me of some of The Rock's best heel promos. The great part is that the crowd totally hated him during his promo, but was cheering for him to cash in Money in the Bank after the Sheamus/Orton match.
– Bret Hart got in a lot of offense — way more moves than he did at WrestleMania. I was actually scared as it was happening. Dude had a stroke and old people don't heal fast. I appreciated it after the match, but was nervous for him during it.
@ Ray
Maybe, but there's one thing Bret hart has that you don't…
Meniscus tissue.
(jk)
Oh yeah… Big Blak is on the money as well.
I went on a mission tonight to get a Droid X or an EVO (there will be 4G in my area by September). Mission failed. Why did I attempt? Because even though my Iphone has been jailbroken, I still can't tether with it w/o ATT trying to charge me. Ridiculous. Android community here I come.
@smartguy Welcome back!
@ SG
Nice. Did you not get the Droid X on principles?
apparently theres a place in the world..i think south africa…where this is NOT considered racist..everywhere else, yeah its racist as hell

@ Thunder
I saw that before and my jaw hit the floor, it was when I first started dating my girl, who is white, and she felt so awkward that she apologized lol. The apology wasn't necessary but it was funny as hell.
@Amazon
I bought some cables this morning on Amazon (using Ray's links). I went to check out and I signed up for the 1 month free trial of Prime to get my free 2 day shipping. So why the heck did it still cost me $4 to ship 2 cables???? When did free not become free anymore. Amazon pisses me right off.
@thundercracker
it was pretty funny. it reminds me of the lady who has a radio talk show last week and people were offended by the conversation she had with a black woman who was married to a white man. see link below for more info.

@BB
No, but I did come up with a way to avoid the principle issue. I'm just going to buy the device outright and avoid a contract. That way there won't be any billing errors. I'm just going to pay them using my debit card instead of an ACH draft out of my checking account. That way my bank can recover funds. That is if I choose them.
Having 4G is so tempting to just wait a few more weeks and see if it happens.
Unfortunately Bestbuy had neither device in stock and both of the corporate stores in my area were closed when I left the house at 8 last night. Not being able to tether my devices really bothered me. What really pisses me off is that I have already tethered with my Iphone 4 before last night and now all of a sudden ATT wants me to change my plan around to use the service. F that.
@Slicky
That is odd. I signed up for prime but the items I bought gave me discounted 2 day shipping.
this is pretty cool, what ive been waiting for anyways

once again, i screw up….originally that article was posted on engadget, i believe
@SlickyFats You have to make sure that the cables were sold by Amazon and not one of its partners. All items say if they're eligible for Amazon Prime or not. In fact, you can limit your search to Prime eligible items only. That's what I always do.
@Ray
Thanks I hadn't considered that. I'll make sure to check next time though.
@Thunder
Here is everything you could want to know about the upcoming and current processors. I just stumbled upon this today.
