  1. Move for me. (that's what she said)

    I only need to buy 1 move controller to see if I will like it. Later when I buy more and the "nunchucks" the Kinect will have been a cheaper (avoiding the term 'better' there) deal.

  2. Sony priced their system to move (see what I did there?). They have two real advantages over the Microsoft product: 1. A better price point (at $99 for the starter package, you have an entrance point that is easy to swallow, even if it means having to buy more to get more controllers. As we have seen from Nintendo, you make the initial product cheap and available… and you bring the Big Blak [had too] Penis of Commerce with the extras), 2. People know what to expect from Move. It's a movement control. They say "Oh we had fun with the Wii, and this kinda looks like that. It also kinda looks like I can have some fun with my wife afterwards! Win, win." With Kinect, you are asking people to drop $150 large for something is kind of a mystery. People are going to be asking why they need to pay so much for playing with no controller when they can pay less to play with a controller.

    I expect to see Move move some volume, not nintendo numbers, but more then Microsoft in the initial sales. It's going to take some serious word of mouth for Kinect to start making up the difference imo.

  3. @LarcenousLaugh Great observations. I think you're pretty much on the money. I'm guessing that Move production will be significantly higher than Kinect production, partially because of cost and partially because of projected demand. I'm guessing (again) that the initial run of Kinect hardware will be relatively low and Microsoft will be able to cite a sell-out, though it won't be as impressive as it sounds.

  4. I think the PS Move is the better value because it's cheaper and it's geared towards hardcore and casuals. A lot of existing hardcore games are getting motion controls added(which is why I won't be getting my Heavy Rain Chronicles DLC any time soon) and a lot of future hardcore games will have Move controls added as well. I think Kinect will sell more than Move at first due to MS's stellar advertisement and misleading but I believe the demand for Kinect will quickly fall off when consumers see that it's not what they were promised and it's laggy and buggy. How can you make hardcore games with all that lag? When consumers find out the hard way that they can't play with 4 people like MS promised and that they can't scan their own items to use in-game like MS promised they will be pissed.

  5. Funny, I see Natal selling better than Move according to NPD numbers, and Move Selling better than Natal internationally. Price point aside, Natal is a new gadget with a larger potential install base in the US. Move is a super Wii controller with a larger potential international install base. Either way, I don't care. There are no games for me to justify buying either one right now or in the foreseeable future. Child of Eden is a close one though…

    Disclosure, Oblivion was the game that sold me on the 360. Back then, there was no word if or when it would come to the PS3 and I wasn't going to wait to find out.

    I wouldn't be surprised, Natal doesn't even have any real games to go with it yet. Sony and Microsoft both just lost a horrible game chicken. (they both jumped off at the same time with miles in between them.) Even with a low inventory, I still think the NPD numbers will be in Natal's favor.

  7. @Sandrock323 Dance Central should be pretty popular for Kinect. Sony has an advantage of being able to use old stuff to complement the newer (and probably more basic) stuff.

  8. I agree Ray, MS will create an artificial shortage of Kinect by deploying low amounts of units to retailers. This will make it look like an indemand item like the Wii was for over a year. I'm very curious to see if MS will allow places like BestBuy to have a Kinect kiosk demo. From what I have read it will disappoint ppl who try before they buy.

  9. the ONLY reason i want kinect is because of menu navigation and voice recognition….that doesnt justify the 150 just yet

  10. @Thundercracker

    Yeah that is about all that I want Kinect for as well, and I am NOT paying $150 for just that. Maybe if some cool games came out for it as well I would consider it, but I could get a lot of used games for $150 instead which is a much better deal for me.

  11. @Thundercracker & Bsukenyan;

    Get in line with me while I'm waiting for the Kinect to be listed on eBay for like $50 or so. Just give it a few months.
