Aside from mobile-phone functionality, one of the biggest differentiators between the iPhone and iPod Touch is the former’s camera. It looks like that will no longer be an issue with the next generation of iPod Touch devices. According to MacRumors the iPod Touch will have a front-facing camera for FaceTime and possibly a proper camera for picture taking.
For a lot of people, it would be much cheaper to get a pay-as-you-go phone and an iPod Touch. If the next generation iPod Touch features dual cameras, it makes the proposition even more intriguing. Sure, you have to carry two devices but you’ll be paying much less for mobile service and you’ll be able to take advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities without being tied to a shoddy network like AT&T.
I’m thinking that RPadholic bsukenyan is highly interested in an iPod Touch with dual cameras. Anyone else?

me! Only for my gf. I'll get this for Xmas and she would love me (and it) forever! If you use Skype though you will really only need this iPod touch, right?
I don't know what it's like in Chicago anymore, but where I live… there are no payphones anymore. They were basically all removed from everywhere.
So…. unless your car will only break down in front of somewhere with free wifi, I suggest getting a phone.
That's what I am assuming about Skype. I would love to just have the one camera on it, but two is even better because then I really don't need to spend separate money on a webcam to use skype or anything.
I'm glad to hear this news finally.
my jb iphone is a wifi hotspot! Also believe it or not we still have payphones in Chicago and they are in unsafe neighborhoods. want to take a guess why they're still there?
So as long as she breaks down or has an emergency either with you or in a bad neighborhood… she'll be ok.
hahaha. Hey she's the one that wants an iphone but doesn't want to go with a&t. Sometimes people have to suffer the consquences.
Will you be able to use Skype on it? Or is that Verizon's 3G mandatory App?
@smartguy Yes, you'll be able to use Skype on it.

For drug dealers. I know because we took out all the pay phones from all of the gas stations we run since they were being used mostly for illicit purposes.
*ding* *ding* 2 points for you!
I am looking forward to having one of these in a few months, hopefully. My fiance might be switching to AT&T in the Chicagoland area and getting the iPhone 4, so I will no longer have to give her my old iPod touch and I can just try to sell the old one and buy the new, or trade…something. I am just hoping that the new OS isn't really as slow on a new iPod touch as it is on mine right now. There is so much lag it is hard to want to use it recently.
