Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, your World Cup predictions, Intelligentsia’s Edelweiss Finagro Estate Tanzania (my official coffee of E3 2010), or Angelina Jolie as Cleopatra, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
I’m so, so, so psyched for E3 2010!!! Like Phil Collins, I can feel it coming in the air tonight. With the show just around the corner, I keep getting these random bouts of excited energy (I’m pretty sure this is what “Hulking up” is like). The energy has caused me to think about the five (known) games I’m looking forward to at this year’s show. Here they are!
- The Last Guardian: I already covered this earlier in the week. Team Ico is awesome!
- Dragon Age 2: Duh!!! Considering how many times I’ve played Dragon Age and its expansion, I am so ready to hop back into this world. I heart BioWare.
- Epic Mickey: I expect this game to dazzle me. Mickey Mouse is iconic. Warren Spector is an amazing talent. I’m confident that this will be one of the best and most successful third-party games for the Wii.
- The Legend of Zelda: A new Zelda is always a good thing.
- Portal 2: I’m bummed that this got pushed to 2011, but I can’t wait to see it. The original was refreshing and original. I’m sure the team has plenty of new tricks up its sleeves.
@ Ray
Did Warren Spector have his hands on the Deus Ex game for the original xbox?
@Big Blak He worked on the original Deus Ex for PC. I'm not sure who did the Xbox port. He also worked on Thief, System Shock, Ultima, and Wing Commander. He's a legend.
A god amongst men.
In no particular order:
Fallout New Vegas (always room for Fallout in my life)
Call of Duty Black OPs (seriously I am starting to despise this franchise, but still want to see where they take it)
Dead Space 2 (not scary just good)
Crackdown 2 (supercops rock)
Batman AA 2 (still playing 1 but looking forward to seeing this)
Killzone 3 (hated the first, loved the second, guess I have to marry the 3rd)
Infamous 2 (loved the first)
EyePet (I know I know, but it intrigues me)
Gran Turismo 5 (it has got to be done by now)
Finally got around to watching the first episode of NXT season two. There's some promising talent here. I'm already a fan of Low Ki (Kaval) from his Ring of Honor days.
Alex Riley looks extremely polished for a rookie, but I want to see him in the ring.
Percy Watson just cracks me up. I love the he wrestles with glasses. I can't wait until someone takes them off in the middle of a match and he's all Velma from Scoobie Doo.
Husky Harris can go for a big guy. WWE needs a fat guy that can wrestle. It's kind of like a utility infielder. The company hasn't had a really good fat guy since Umaga. (RIP Eddie Fatu!)
I'm kinda meh on the new Zelda thing. Once again that damn imprecise Wii Mote makes anything but Mario a task. My opinion, no flames!
Epic Mickey huh? Interesting. never heard of it. You listed the games the guy has worked on and I have to be honest…none of them ever did it for me.
I'm looking forward to Fable 3 actually. I loved the second one. I'd like to see some Gears 3 stuff..Dead Space 2, and maybe some good RPGs. I know ME2 and FF13 are available to me now, but I want more. In fact, I'm gonna start ME2 in July. Can't wait. Also plan on beating iNfamous soon.
I'm with most of Slicky's wants.
Fallout New Vegas might be at the op of my list as well. Crack down 2 is up there too.
But I want to add APB to my list.
Isn't APB an MMO? I first heard about it I think 3 years ago.
@smartguy Whoa. Thief, Deus Ex, and System Shock were fantastic on the PC.
@N8R Crackdown 2 is just outside of my top 5. I like what I played a few months ago — complete fun.
Always excited to hear about a new Zelda game, however I am not too thrilled to hear about Shigeru Miyamoto saying that they are trying to make the games easier.
Fallout New Vegas seems like a cool concept, the pictures look cool…but I have also never played Fallout 3.
Portal 2 and everything else that Valve will be showing is exciting news to me, but I am also disappointed that Portal 2 will have to wait until 2011.
I haven't even played MW2 and I am already pretty tired of the CoD series (and I will probably at least try my hand at CoD3 and CoD: WaW sometime as well), but I am more excited to see what is going to happen to the series in the future after what happened to IW.
Also, I am curious to see what Respawn will announce (if anything), I would be pretty impressed if they already have something worth showing at E3 this soon after the fallout from IW.
tekken vs street fighter, can you comment on this ray?
i want to see what rockstar is up to as well, also, dc universe
I can't wait to see the "games" for the Wii Vitality Sensor.
-M
1) Mass Effect 3 (or whatever project it is they're talking about for the franchise this fall)
2) Dragon Age 2
3) L.A. Noir
4) Elder Scrolls V (I want this game, whenever they get around to announcing it)
5) Gears of War 3
@Nightshade386
I love the Elder Scrolls games. Wish they would spend more time on it than Fallout. (Although, I'm all for Fallout finally going back to its makers. Even though I'm not interested in it.)
If they announce Elder Scrolls V, I just want to say sorry in advance for not posting often after the game's release. It will steal my soul for the third time in two console gens. (One lasted almost a full gen O_o)
LoL, I'm with Sandrock on that. I'm prepared to losing some serious portions of my soul for Elder Scrolls V. Plus, of course, I want more details on Final Fantasy XIV Online. And Zelda, and Batman AA2 ^^
@Cami
Hopefully we get a release date at E3 or TGS. Otherwise it will mean a delay.
Batman AA2 falls in at #6 for me. I could probably have kept going all day listing the games I wanted to see more of.
