What Are You Playing This Weekend?

For some reason, my recent gaming choices have been all Nintendo. This weekend I’ll be playing more Glory of Heracles for Nintendo DS. It’s a fun RPG written by Kazushige Nojima, who worked on several Final Fantasy games, various Kingdom Hearts titles, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. On the Wii  I’ll be playing Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. It’s a strategy RPG that’s…well…very Japanese — very quirky and unusual in a way that I love.

How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?

  1. Red Dead Redemption. And maybe some Battlefield: Bad Company 2…..if I can bare to pull myself away from RDR.

  2. If any of you have seen my facebook status then you should know…for those of you that haven't seen that…playing L4D with my fiance who is now hooked on this game. She has never played an FPS before in her life and is now playing L4D fairly well on normal difficulty.

I still need to get my last achievement on Uno (win 10 four player online games) and Madden 08 (20 catches in a row with one player) so I might work on those as well at some point.

  3. limited game playing this weekend. Blackhawks game 4 and 5 this weekend. Birthday party on Sat along with the Cotto v. Foreman fight. If i play it's going to have to be something with short gameplay maybe some SSFIV or MK vs DC or Tekken 6.

  4. @Ray

Did you try out Rocket Knight? You had mentioned it and I was wondering if it was any good.

  5. I don't know what I am going to play. It really sucks having to start every single game I own completely over since my PS3 died. I may just stick with some MP games this weekend

  6. Every time I play a Western like RDR or Gun, I get the urge to watch Silverado.

  7. @N8R

Really?!? RDR is fun? I couldn't stand it. It got old picking flowers and skinning horses. It was fun to call my horse just before a train came by and seeing if he could cross the tracks in time (usually SPLAT).

  8. @ Slicky

I just finished all the challenges last night so I only need to pick flowers or skin horses if want to get the free tonic that refills my Dead Eye or get free medicine. I also unlocked the outfit that looks like the High Plains Drifter.

I dig it alot actually, then again, I actually liked GTA4. I love the hunting aspect. But my favorite is hogtying people with the lasso and putting them on the train tracks to wait for the train like those old school silent movie villains. I'll also smear them with bait in a bear or cougar infested area and let the animals have at 'em (that doesn't always work well though… but when it does, it's magic).

I think I'm a sucker for cowboy stuff deep in my being. I love me some old Clint Eastwood westerns and get giddy when the game makes references.

  9. WoW. I might try and play Alan Wake for more than 20mins. Sunday I plan on playing SMG2 more. Then of course more WoW.

  10. @N8R

When do you get a lasso? I was supposed to convince some chick to go back to her man and the prompt said hog tie her or threaten, didn't know what else to do so I shot at her.

  11. @Slicky: You get it in one of the story missions from Bonnie MacFarlane.

  12. For anyone who's interested in tracking their achievement whorery, a friend of mine introduced me to this site.

There are also usually guides you can click on specifically for every achievement if you're stuck.

hey! What happened to the Celtics! They let me down yesterday. It looked like they didn't feel like playing yesterday. Also, what's up with 2 day break between game 1 and 2, they're in the same city!

  14. @Nightshade

Yeah I have been there a few times before, the idea is cool, but I think the statistics are a little off. From what I gather it only tracks the achievements based on how many other people's profiles say that they have a certain achievement. This is not always accurate as to how difficult or easy an achievement really is. But I digress. The site is still a lot of fun.

I have found a couple sites that do some cool things with your profile like that though, the coolest is the one where it writes a blog based on the games I play and achievements/gamerscore I get.

    Lol thanks dude :)

    @ Tokz

Man the Celtics gave about 60-70% effort the whole game, it was as if they were not in a championship series. The Lakers on the other hand looked awesome and quite honestly I think they gave about 80-90% effort. Against the Celtics they can play slightly better but not by much. I truly think the Celts were testing the waters seeing as most of the team had a sub par night (not making excuses for shitty playing) and seeing what the Lakers are truly capable of. If both teams gave 90% the Celtics would win every time because of they have the superior defense, the Lakers have length and Kobe. Speaking of that man he is unstoppable when he is in the zone which makes me upset but what can we do but watch him make shot after shot. The Celts bench is more physical than the Lakers bench as well. I got the Celts in 7.

I hope this is the weekend we can play L4D, I know you fiance will be playing there so I know how that is lol.

  17. @SlickyFats I played Rocket Knight for about an hour last weekend. It was a fun hour. Unfortunately I was so sick last weekend that it was tough even playing games. I'll jump back into at some point. Please keep in mind that I got the game free from Konami. I'm sure I'd think about it differently if I had to pay for it.

  18. @BB

Yeah we definitely should. I am not sure what all I am doing this weekend other than playing games, doing homework, and being with my fiance. And all of those things will be at my apartment so they should be a little flexible. Just let me know when works for you.

  19. Modern Warfare 2 co-op if I can wrangle Sandrock into helping me out with beating a lot of the missions on Veteran. Maybe some Halo 3 multiplayer as well. I still can't decide what new game to start with next, but I think it's either going to be Episodes from Liberty City or Fallout 3, which I am dreading because Oblivion IV was so time consuming, I don't know if I am ready to commit that much time to another epic American RPG so soon.

    @ Bsukenyan;

The "Mile High" achievement you were talking to me about is in Call of Duty 4, not Modern Warfare 2. I don't have CoD4 for the Xbox, just on the PC (or rather, Mac running Boot Camp) and I liked the game, but it's not easy to play it on a laptop, so just went through the game two or three times on Normal and Hardened difficulties, but not Veteran. So, I've never tried Mile High on Veteran. If you need help with it, go on YouTube and search for "Call of Duty Mile High Veteran" ant it'll show you how a bunch of people got it. It looks really hard and seems like it takes a lot of luck by watching some of those videos.

  20. @Iceman

Yeah I ended up getting that one, and then I couldn't do it again. The videos of people doing that level are ridiculously good, and they all leave out the part that after you enter the second level of the plane there are more stun grenades which most people will need to use to actually get to the end. After I found that out it became a little easier to do. There was definitely a lot of luck involved when I got it though!

  21. MW2 some more. FFXI is on the back burner right now because the Memphis heat is in and I live in an unair-conditioned house. Need to open up my PC case and remove my extra GPU to cut down heat and then I should be good.

  22. i dont understand the multiplayer in rdr

is free roam the way to go?

  23. Damned thunderstorms keep knocking out the power at this rate I wont be playing anything.

  24. @ Big Blak;

Dude! The same thing happened to me while I was playing Modern Warfare 2 during a thunderstorm we had down here on Saturday. It was no big deal though, when the power went out, I went to go take a shower and before I was done, the electricity had come back on.

What I'm going to do now is play the lottery and then take a shower to see if I have the same kind of luck. You'll know I've won when Mr. Padilla finally gets that HD video camera he's wanted to post his own videos on the site.
