Coffee Talk #153: What Social Networking Service Do You Use?

I was wondering what social networking services you fine ladies and gentlemen use. Out of necessity (have to promote the site and all), I used most of what’s out there. Twitter is my favorite. Facebook can be kind of fun. LinkedIn and Plaxo are boring, but necessary for business. I’m late to the party with Foursquare, but totally love it. Not only do you get to see where your friends are hanging out and discover new venues, you also get useless points for going to places and checking in on Foursquare — it’s like Achievement Points, but for living!

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you.   3. I use twitter but i use it more as a news source and to follow people i'm interested, i.e. Rpad. My gf and friends are on facebook and annoy me with it. There are some people i want to keep in touch with and some i don't. Most of the people are in high school and are annoying. I didn't like them then and i'm not going to like them now. Also, people get upset if someone is in your circle of friends but your friend's friend isn't. That's retarded. If you don't know them why should you add them. ***end rant***

    OMunn is a little overrated. She's okay, i mean if she were offering i wouldn't turn her down but that was quite a jump in Maxim from last year to this year.

  4. facebook, myspace (because I don't feel like deleting it), twitter, linkedIn, foursquare. My problem is that I get bored with them.

    Myspace was never good, and the only reason I ever got it is because there were a couple bands that had pages that I wanted to support.

    With Twitter I was one of the very early adopters and since no one else was on there or using it I stopped and have only recently started using it again. It's pretty good.

    Facebook is overrated anymore and I don't really use it too much except for school sometimes- otherwise I only get on occasionally to keep up on people I don't feel like talking to.

    Foursquare seems cool, but when I first heard about it (again there weren't many people on it at the time) it was a little dull. I might try it again.

    LinkedIn is not bad, but I have never met anyone who really truly uses it to get somewhere in the business world, but I have one just in case. Actually that is the first place I ever got in contact with Ray to learn about this site.

  5. I signed up for Twitter and i think I may still have an account, but I never got the point so I quit using it. I occasionally get an email saying blah blah is now following you, which means I know its complete crap because I haven't touched it in over a year.

    I was using MySpace to "socialize" until I recently signed up for Facebook just to play the craptacular "games". I rarely log into my MySpace now and I haven't really set up my Facebook over the last year because I just don't feel like investing anytime in it.

    Never heard of any of the other that were mentioned.

  7. I know a lot of people who don't know what LinkedIn is, which just furthers my thoughts that people have it and claim to use it, but don't really use it for business applications.

    I would post an fb link to my page too, but I didn't see that option in my account settings…so I'm friends with SlickyFats, Ray, and Big Blak already and if anyone else wants to find me I guess you could cross reference the friend lists…or I can figure out how to link it here. haha

    That's a great deal, too bad I paid $60 for it already.

    I played it for nearly 3 hours and I don't remember why I never picked it up again, but I need to.

    That is weird, I don't know why that would work for Slicky and not for you.

    I just added N8R and Slicky though, and I am already friends with Ray and Big Blak, so I shouldn't be hard to find.

  22. I use Twitter for quick news updates. I hardly ever go to any sites to see what's new anymore and just follow links they post on Twitter instead. (RPad.TV is an exception of course) FB I use to talk to very few people. I don't even check my news feed on FB everyday and just go to the profiles I'm interested in. Both twitter and FB accounts end in sandrock323 and I have links to each other on them.
