GameStop Soft Launches its PowerUp Rewards Affinity Program

GameStop has soft launched its PowerUp Rewards affinity program in select areas. The full launch will take place in Fall 2010. It’s not terribly different from the current Edge program. Here’s a link to PowerUp Rewards’ details or you can scan this nifty graphic below.

Are you currently a GameStop Edge member? Any of you planning on signing up for PowerUp Rewards? Do you feel it’s worth paying for?

  1. too bad i go buy my games at play and trade and game play now. tempting though.

  2. I'm with slicky. I wish they would explain the point structure and rewards. I use my chase rewards to get some pretty good gift cards. I clicked on the link but it only mentioned what you can redeemed but didn't bother to break it down like 40,000 points = $50 gc. i would like to know something like that before joining.

  3. I'm honestly think about not renewing my edge card and just buy a 12 month subscription to GI from GI. I like GS as a game centric store, but almost all of my gaming purchases are done online now.

  4. Full disclosure, I would love to work at a GS and intend to apply for a management position in the somewhat near future. Just have a few things I need to financially secure first. (easier said then done though Q_Q)

    I am also going to be trying to work at a GS sometime in the near future, just not in a management position most likely.

    I might look in to this mostly just for the GI subscription, but I really only trade games there anymore if I have to. I like my independent game store but unfortunately that is an hour away, so sometimes it has to be GS. And any new game I have been trying to buy on Amazon. If I want the game right now I manipulate the system though and buy it from Best Buy right away, then order it on Amazon. Play the copy from Best Buy and then when the copy from Amazon gets here I return that one to Best Buy. It worked nicely for Family Game Night.

  6. I buy from Amazon and Bestbuy. Why? Because my games come sealed. It's a thing I like to see when I pay full price for a title.

    Manager and assistant manager are the only full time positions. I doubt I have a chance of getting one, but I don't want to work part time. My current job has made me hate part time work.

    It isn't hard to get an asst manager position much less a manager position in a retail store. Asst mgr means you don't mind working shit hours for only about 2 bucks more than regular employees. I think you could do it.

    I do hate part time work, the scheduling can be awful sometimes, but I just don't have time to work full time. I am doing that now and taking a full schedule of summer classes and I already feel worn out and beat down from doing too much. I only get about an hour of free time a day and maybe 7 hours of sleep. And for the most part I have only been able to turn on my xbox for netflix and no game time.

    Right now I would kind of like just part time.

    I think both get crap hours. A full time employee has to be at the store anytime it is open.

    @bsukenyan

    I haven't met anyone who liked summer classes.
