Monday Night Wars Over: TNA Impact Moving Back to Thursday

Well…that didn’t take very long. After a couple of months competing head-to-head with WWE, TNA Wrestling has decided to pack it up and go home. Continually getting trounced in the ratings by WWE Monday Night Raw, TNA Impact is heading back to Thursday nights starting May 13, 2010. In a press release, TNA president Dixie Carter said:

Our fans made it clear that they preferred the Thursday night time period. By moving to Thursdays, this is a win/win opportunity for both TNA and the fans. We are looking forward to delivering what the fans are asking for!

Perhaps it’s just me, but perhaps wrestling fans “asked” for TNA to put on a better product and the company ignored them. Instead of emphasizing the young and unique talent in the company, TNA gives way too much air time to old wrestlers that lose relevance each day. Sorry Dixie, but moving back to Thursdays isn’t a “win/win”. It’s your company waving the white flag.

  1. They conceded defeat earlier than I thought. The ratings are going to continue to tank if they keep the old guys in the spot light. Did they really think that was going to beat the WWE's Monday Night Raw?

  2. Moving it to Thursdays still isn't going to make me watch the whole show. Their vignettes need more work, some of their talent needs more work selling their moves, and some of their gimmicks are lame. This whole Abyss being on Hogan's side is soooooo lame. How can someone named "Abyss" be coming out to a poppy song like "American Made" i think that's the song? Raw was pretty kool i liked how they showed off their NXT talent. I wish that Barrett didn't have to tap out to the STF, he should've lost to a pinfall.

Agreed about Abyss. That whole wearing Hogan's ring giving him confidence thing is indeed sooooooooo lame. They keep putting Hogan and Flair in the ring against each other like that's suppose to get us excited. Sting walking the rafters again is also soooooooooo lame now. About Wade Barret, I think he should have lasted the time limit preventing Cena from beating the clock.

yeah! I was hoping that he would've lasted the time limit too! The ending of that match was so anti-climatic for me because it ended too soon. It set me up for him to actually escape or for Jericho to interfere. Flair looks out of control there but i did like Lethal's impersonation of him, it was dead on Flair.
