I’m too emotionally spent for a full recap. I’m having a hard time imagining how I’m going to enjoy WWE without Shawn Michaels. Wow. Anyway, here are the results (mostly from my friends Joey and Jose who were at the event).
– Yoshi Tatsu won a dark-match battle-royal.
– The Big Show and The Miz defeated John Morrison and R-Truth to retain the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles.
– Randy Orton defeated Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes.
– Jack Swagger won the “money in the bank” ladder match.
– Triple H defeated Sheamus.
– Rey Mysterio beat CM Punk.
– Bret “The Hitman” Hart defeated Vince McMahon.
– Chris Jericho defeated Edge to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
– Maryse, Michelle McCool, Layla, Vickie Guerrero, and Alicia Fox got the win over Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Eve Torres, and Kelly Kelly.
– John Cena beat Dave Batista to win the WWE Championship.
– The Undertaker beat Shawn Michaels, extending his streak to 18-0 and ending HBK’s career (for how long?!?).
@ Smartguy
I know what a Scott Steiner mark you are, so when I saw this video, i thought of you:
This is classic.
@N8R
thanks
I thought this wrestlemania was meh. I still can't believe Jack Swagger won the Money in the bank match.
@rpad
The WWE will be fine without HBK. As a fellow HBK mark, it's going to be sad but he'll be back but i doubt it will be in a wrestling capacity either. I just hope he does retire and doesn't try to keep going like a 16 time champion.
@tokz_21 I know the company will be fine. I just don't know if I'll enjoy it as much. Without HBK, I'm not sure I'll watch Raw regularly. I'll catch NXT for Bryan Danielson and SmackDown for Jericho.
@tokz_21 Not a welcome really. I already record all three shows. I'm afraid I'll stop watching Raw…or maybe fast forward through most of it. A draft could be super interesting for sure.
@tokz_21 For years I've felt that SmackDown has the better wrestling. I just don't talk about it as much because I don't get it live on the west coast and it's on Friday, so I usually don't watch it until Sunday.
@rpad.
I see. speaking about things we don't get to see. I'm disappointed that the WWE decided to have the royal rumble dark match. I think the show could've used that match more than the divas that had to follow Jericho v Edge.
@tokz_21 Yeah, but that wouldn't have been cool to keep the girls working a dark match. I hate that neither of the women's titles were defended at WrestleMania. It makes them seem silly.
@rpad
I think they could've kept the impromptu rumble match and the divas tag match. I think the show was booked wrong. There's no way that Divas match should've followed a championship match. The divas match should've started the show or gone before the Punk v Mysterio match.
@tokz_21 It's been booked that way the last few years, but usually it's a women's title match between the men's.
@Tokz: They could have chosen a better cool down match that a diva battle royal, but it makes sense to put something short between those two matches that the crowd likely won't be as into since if you have big match after big match, the live crowd can get burnt out. You want them still fired up for the big finale at the end of the show.
@nightshade
I don't think the crowd was too amped up after the Jericho match. The diva match was unnecessary as it was. It should've been a title match one on one or triple threat, as rpad stated it makes the women's titles silly and unimportant if you don't defend them at the grand-daddy of them all.
Woot, UNDERTAKER ftw!
Here's a nice clip of HBK heading backstage after his retirement match. WWE sucks for not allowing embeds.

Undertaker was gonna win regardless. Would have liked to have seen Edge beat Jericho just b/c I can’t stand his tv personality lol. And it really is a touch call between Mysterio and CM Punk b/c I like both of them. *shrug*
@tokz_21 I'm hoping WM26 gets a Blu-ray release like the two previous 'Manias.
@ Smartguy
I told you that it was ridiculous. Now you need to start watching Botchamania. There’s like over 100 parts to it so posting links could take forever.
But Botchamania is absolutely hilarious as well.
@tokz_21 You kidding? The WWE stuff sells really well at stores like Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart. Amazon has a bunch for heavy discount too.
That's also the last HBK DVD I have. I'm looking forward to the next one.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030BS1HA?ie=UT…
@Ray: What's funny about the old WWF stuff is that waaaaay back in the day wen I was a store manager at Lackluster video, those DVD/VHS's never rented worth a damn. Mind you, they were burried at the back end of the same section as the documentaries and foreign films, but still….never rented worth a damn.
Just found out a couple weeks ago that my old store was one of the ones they're shutting down. I ran that thing for 3 years, and as of next month it will be gone. Kinda sad…
@rpad
i go to all the stores you mentioned and those dvd's are always there i can always find one if i'm tempted to buy one. If i see the dvd's are always there i don't think it's a good thing. Also with Amazon having heavy discounts on the dvd's why would someone buy them from the WWE shop when they're cheaper. I can't see the WWE making big profit from Amazon and other sites that sell their dvd's with deep discounts. You're right on the HBK dvd, i should wait until the definitive dvd collection so i have the WM send off.
So…. Predictions for WrestleMania XXVII?
I’ll go first: The Rock will come back and fight a tag-team comprised of Triple H and Vince McMahon.
-M
I was wrong on all of my predictions except Undertaker beating HBK.
@rpad
Welcome to the Smackdown party! He’s the only reason to watch Smackdown besides the taker and HBK smack talking there was. Maybe CM Punk will be my savior? They should think about moving him to Raw in the draft in two weeks?
@rpad
I see. we’ve never talked about Smackdown as much as Raw or ppv’s. I just thought you never bothered with it.
Frankly, I don’t think there’s enough of a woman’s division to justify 2 belts. There comes a point where the “Brand Extension” has got to end, because there’s so many belts that most of them have no meaning. I mean, I get that they’re “props,” but if you treat them as such the fans won’t take them seriously.
@rpad
Oh i know but if they’re not going to have the titles on the line. It’s a novelty match and shouldn’t be booked in that slot.
@nightshade
I completely agree but with the WWE having two brands you can’t merge the belts into one until the brand is merged into one and there is no more Smackdown or RAW.
The women’s titles are silly and unimportant, and it has nothing to do with them not being defended at Wrestlemania. It has everything to do with the Diva’s being tossed out there as soft core pr0n stars half the time instead of treated like the real athletes they are. I mean, some of the those girls can go in the ring better than some of the guys. But I digress…..
@rpad
thanks for the link. I’m hoping to have more extended scenes in the WM26 dvd.
@rpad
Why would you think it wouldn’t come in blu-ray?
I’m waiting for the box set release of the 25 WM’s like the anthology that was 1-20.
@tokz_21 I’m surprised that more WWE products aren’t available on Blu-ray. As far as I know, it’s just WM24 and WM25. I don’t know if the company is selling enough of them.
@rpad
I dont think they’re seeing that many dvd’s flying off the shelf. also, the way their ppv’s are going i couldn’t justify just paying 65.99 for the ppv then spending 34.99 for the blu-ray. The WWE shop doesn’t discount their videos unless they need to get rid of them. Hey did you pick up or know if they added more matches to the HBK my journey dvd. The last one i got was the from the vault: shawn michaels.
